Why do you need to pay hundreds of dollars towards therapy when you have Trevor Noah? I don’t get it
Hi
Happy Easter.. Trevor my love...😘😘😘
Don’t be a hero😂😂😂
Someone called me a little taco one time.
Lol love these stories of word usage misunderstandings. My buddy who's British (where "rubber" often means eraser) moved to the US (where "rubber" often means condom), took an art class, and asked a classmate if he could borrow a rubber. She gave him a weird look, so he was like, "I'll give it back!" XD
LOL 😂😅🤣
make sure to wash it before giving back, hahaha
In India rubber also means eraser😂😂
That happened to me when I moved to France. Discussing diet with friends at lunch, I opined that it was best to eat foods with no preservatives in them - 'sans préservatives'. Yep, the word for condom is 'préservatif'. Condom, on the other hand, is a city in SE France.
My older sibling (we're Australian) did that during an exam after we moved to the USA XD
We had a foreign exchange student from Spain in my high school math class. She was outgoing, charming,, and a really beautiful girl. About the 3rd day of class, she turns around to the boy behind her and asks if he's got a rubber. I knew what she meant and watched in amusement as this smitten boy stammered and his cheeks flushed bright red. "Well, have you got a rubber or not? ... I've an error I need to correct ."
The relief on his face as he realized she just wanted to use his eraser 🤣
We Spaniards have a problem in many Latin America countries. They use "grab or agarrar" to mean "pick something up" while in the penninsula we use "coger" and that word they use it to "f*ck". You don't know how many times I have being looked down as a crazy freak 😩 even when saying "I would get the bus" and those terrorized eyes looked at me and then, when I realized I used "coger", next thing I am wondering what are they picturing in their minds? like...how can anyone could possibly do that with a bus or an elephant? 😬😃
@@Lyrielonwind My father is from LA and I'm now living in Galicia, Spain. I was at a bank signing up for an account/debt card. The bank teller turns to me and says I can come back Monday to "cogerla" and I stood there absolutely shocked thinking this man is so vulgar! And I'm like WHO THE WOMAN BANKTELLER?? Humiliating when I realized the "la" in question was la tarjeta.
By the time of "I've an error I need to correct", its technically too late for a "rubber". 😂
Her problem seems to have been that she learned English, not American…
Wish I could have seen that lol
"I feel like there's certain level of accountability with permanence"
-Trevor 2021
Brilliant line
One of the lines I picked and it's amazing..
lo
lol
And therefore comedy as a profession for Trevor makes sense?
As a Mexican Woman, I can just only imagine how awkward this conversation and hilarious it would have been in real life if I were to be witnessing it at the taco truck in the sidelines lol 😆
But where was Dave this whole time? Was he just standing there?
@@123benny4 Yeah.
Dave needs to be held accountable 😊
Stand up comedy stories are all made up
Dave could have easily corrected his misinterpretation but it sounds like he might have been high.
To be fair, depending on the the taco truck, he could very well need a "napkin"
Taco bell enters the chat.
😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆
@@david.jr. Tacos are Mexican food. Taco Bell it’s just a copy that I always need a napkin (in South African meaning) because give me stomach discomfort 🤷🏻♀️
@@ermopa7633 I’m not gonna lie, some places here the tacos are really a cause of need a napkin
@@ericgabrielbautistajaimes9187 I know, u right about that.
Duddddddddddddde, he has the warmest smile at the end when he says now I love tacos and, my history teacher recommended me to watch him ,she was like he's so good that you're forced to laugh 😂
Reminds me of that time my Swiss friend talked about Italians coming to Switzerland.
So, for those of you who don't know, in Italy, we call transparent tape "scotch" as in Scotch tape. In the Italian speaking parts of Switzerland they don't, so you'd have some really confused store clerks wondering why those Italians wanted scotch when the bar was nextdoor.
In Mexico we say Cinta Scorch, 😂 basically Scotch Tape but we say scorch.
“YOU’VE NEVER HAD TACOS!?” My sentiments exactly
Never had it too until recently. Taco bell finally arrived in Malaysia!
@@aimisakee867 I'm so sorry...those are not really tacos...
@@guyfuntyme6050 owh really? I ate to my heart's content 😢
@@aimisakee867 In the U.S., those aren't "real tacos". But I also love Taco Bell. In the Midwest, we call this Tex-Mex cuisine. So yes. They are real tacos, but not the same as other countries. 😉 It's not that we don't have the ingredients. We just don't all enjoy them the same.
Some tacos have a soft tortilla shell, some a crisp corn shell. Some with a flour shell. You could make them with fish, hamburger, beans, rice, peppers, onions, green onion, sour cream, ranch dressing, shredded pork or beef, shrimp, shredded cheese of a variety of names, etc. My favorite is a walking taco! A small bag of Nacho Cheese Doritos where you open one end, don't take any out. Add taco meat (hamburger with taco seasoning), shredded cheddar cheese, lettuce, a teaspoon of sour cream, and mix it up with a spoon. You can carry it around and eat it at birthday parties. 🙂
@@leavesofdistinction1679 hehehe .. thank you for walking me to taco experience. I used to live in the Midwest for 4 years and now back to my homeland. But since it wasn't Halal, I didn't try them. But here in Malaysia, the ingredients are halal so finally I could try them 😉

Trevor Noah is the only person I know who could get a big laugh with "There's a certain level of accountability that comes with permanence."
But it's also true. There was a truck selling drinks around here recently. They had no prices posted, so people naturally assumed a certain price range only to find themselves getting charged way over twice that amount. They could do that because they could pack up and move on. There were people from all around the county badmouthing them online as rip-offs. If they were invested in an actual physical location, they couldn't do that. They'd lose all their business and go under.
@@mage1439 Noah is still the only person l know who could get a laugh with that line.
@@annainspain5176 It's all in the context and the delivery.
Oh my. Free napkins when you visit us at Frontera Grill.
Some people don't know they squeeze so tight and then the juice comes spraying out even more 😂
That poor taco truck owner... you had him going.. he had no idea that a napkin in your country meant a diaper...ROFL
Taco guy was doing his best to speak English. Napkin in Spanish is “Servilleta”!!!!
@@carlotarodriguez144 came here for that comment. I learned some time ago that it is the same in German,so that makes sense that it would be serviette in South Africa.
@@carlotarodriguez144 we say napkin here in the states? Were are yall from?
To be fair, most of what comedians tell are just made up stories or greatly exaggerated. This probably didn't happen exactly like this 😂 hilarious nonetheless
He's a bit different.. I'd believe it happened..
Been watching this several times, but when Trevor announced about to make this a premiere, I keep waiting to rewatch it. Well, thats how good this is.
New video pls, Trevah!
Do you want a Napkin😂😂😂
*why would I want pampers? *😭😭😭
I laughed so hard I couldn't breathe and I couldn't see either from the tears. My sides hurt and so does my face from smiling. Trevor is a genius.
Forget the flowers. Bring me tacos! 🌮 🌮
Proud mexican here 🙋🏻♀️
It's on, time and place...
His Mexican accent was spot on! lol
Mike his accents are so the best!!!!
Some folks would also call this fake accent - racist.
ikr! he's so good at imitating accents
Yes, he is pretty good on all accents he imitates. I am pretty sure you saw his other comedies specially practicing to be black American on airplane and imitating them once he gets to NY.
There is a behind the scene of daily show of him talking about accents and why he loves them and how it helps him understand people better. You should check it out
Comic genius!! This man knows what he's doing!!! Bravo!!!!
We Canadians call them "serviette" too, but I always thought it was just one of many French words that had made the transition from foreign word to common usage. Hearing that it is also used in SA makes me wonder just how far back the word crossed over, and then why isn't it used in the US too.
Yes, even in Germany we say Serviette 👍🏽
even weirder is that in Quebec we say napkin like americans, serviette means towel here
Because we aren't Canadians bro or Europeans most Americans Are Mixed Races remember your history Arizona, California, New Mexico, Texas, Colorado, Nevada, and Utah were Mexico back then so we aren't just one plain race My family is from Texas and we never use the word Serviette🤣 we use napkin?
colonialism. British English
@@ifyoureplyyoureajuan4659 I mean, if you heard serviette in Mexico, I'm sure you would deduce it's "servilleta" which is napkin in Spanish. And it's pronounced the same way as serviette except for the last letter. The silent e from serviette would become a short a sound for servilleta.
Napkin part made me laugh especially cause i relate with him 😂
It's the divergence of British and American English. The same word may mean a completely different thing across the pond, so much that people will laugh at you, for saying what is a seemingly ordinary word to you.
Some examples:
Fanny in American English is a tame word for butt, and is part of the name for a fanny pack as a bag to wear on your hips. But fanny to the British means female private parts. The British call it a bum bag.
Pants in American English are called trousers in British. Pants in British are undergarments.
Thongs in Aussie English mean sandals. Thongs to Americans are revealing undergarments.
"A rubber" in American English means condom. A rubber in British means eraser.
Fag in British means cigarette. Fag in American English is a derogatory term for homosexual.
@@carultch the F slur used towards gays and the word Fag for cigarettes have the same origin
Africans 🤣🤣🤣👈🏿👈🏿
@@carultch Really do thongs mean sandals 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@ifyoureplyyoureajuan4659 Yes.
The thing about the taco bit is, that you really never do know about the mess... on either end.

Trevor, just remember, never order tacos from a Mexican Restaurant, they aren't real Mexican tacos. Best tacos are from street vendors on the corner or from the Roach Coach ( truck vendor) LOL.
The video made my day!!! I literally laughed out loud after a long long time 😂😂
Hi Dear,
How are you?
The real tacos are those who are in the callejones de mala muerte
Servilletas not toatillas …. This argument I have with my friend …. I just want to punch her in the face when she doesn’t say servilleta
True
They have restaurants in Mexico
Funny how folks used to call taco trucks roach coaches in LA in the 90s and early 2000s (i loved it it) and now it's gentrified like everything else. An his mexican accent is on point.

I remember when I ate a taco I squeezed too hard and it crumbled all up. I looked at everyone else to see if this only happened to me and sure enuf... it only happened to me ugh embarrassing but then again it was my 1st time trying it so not really embarrassing lol.
I casually mixed all the ingredients all up like nothing poured the sauce stir again and ate it like that with a spoon of course and was delicious and now to this day when I buy a taco I take everything out of the shell and mix it up then as the taco sauce mix it up then place it back into the taco shell lol cus that’s just how I like it lol
Then I remember my first time eating a burrito I looked around at everyone else to see how I’m suppose to eat it; like am I supposed to pick it up or am I supposed to eat it with a fork and knife lol. I didn’t know so I started staring at everybody else eating their burrito to help me see how I’m supposed to eat it lol
I've eaten burritos with a fork and knife. I don't mind picking it up and eating it either, but there's just something about eating it with a fork and a knife that's just so satisfying to me.
If it's a wet burrito. You have to use a fork and knife
Dude, that's your best outfit yet ❗😀
...the number of analogies between taco sauce and feces, unbelievable senor 🤣😂
Made me laugh so much on a bad day 😂 thanks Trevor! ❤
Trevor talking about how the idea of a food truck was strange to him and he was reluctant...Bruh, my experience in South Africa was admittedly limited and geared toward tourists, but I remember eating fantastic food in Johannesburg cooked and served streetside on plastic fold-up tables. How big of a mental leap is it really to scale that up to a food truck?
Nope, the street vendors are still there everyday, plus there's strength in numbers as they come in crowds. Food truck... If there were many at once I'd go, but abandoned parking lot would make me hesitate.
Haven’t laughed this hard in a while! Thanks so much, Trevor!
Even though my mother was American and my father British, I was born and grew up in India until I was 16. When I came to the USA at 16, I did have some trouble understanding American. Now I tell people that I speak two languages fluently, American and English.

Trevor Noah , if you never do another thing in life , you have brought laughter to so ' MANY ' . Thank You !!
After seeing this, I almost needed a napkin (a real British one, after laughing so much....)
In British English a napkin is used for wiping (well, delicately dabbing) your mouth when eating. The South African English "napkin" corresponds to the British English "nappy".

I remember how confused I was when my English friend Emily was visiting me in the US. We were at a restaurant and she asked me where the toilet was.....I was like "um it's in the bathroom " 🤣 Such a strange and oddly specific question. I had no idea at that time that was what she was referring to.
Flip that around… why do you need a bath to take a 💩? That’s some next level work.
We have the bathroom = shower/bath. Toilet =room with🚽
@@sillytorque 🤣😂 fair point my friend! Don't get me started on the confusion between "pants" and "panties"...it's all so funny
@@sillytorque But then the question is why don’t you call it the toilet room? Also a lot times people go in there to wash their hands or fix their makeup. Not always to take a 💩
@@anndeecosita3586 Because it's not called the bathroom. In a public place, like a restaurant, it's called a restroom. At home, in a hotel, or any other place that has either a bath or shower, it could be called a bathroom. In a gym it's called a shower room. The thing with American English is that we are so casual with our speaking, that social norms change our way of speaking literally every year. That makes learning our literal language and social language very difficult.
On my first day of school I asked a girl where the bathroom was and she didn't understand then I said toilet and she pointed me in the right direction.
I have often heard characters in British movies and tv shows refer to the garment babies wear as " nappies ", but I never realized it was NAPKINS as an abbreviation.
