- I didn't spoil myself with the Japanese release, while I'm surprised there isn't a upgrade. The attacks are pretty cool.
Probably one of the few (if any) MMA robots in the OG universe.

This mech would definitely get along just fine in Dunbine universe.
Of all OG mech in VXT, Xelguard definitely is my favorite. Also has the best attack animation imo.

Even though it does not get an upgrade, I cannot help but like the Xelguard.
It's a giant kung-fu wizard robot, what's not to like?
honestly, it dosen't need upgrades just a better library of sorts as long as it gets more dogma then it gets more options and power for fights.
Since Z2 there are too many real robot protagonists. It's very refreshing to see something different.
I kind of challenge that.
Since Z2 and not counting OG which doesn't have a singular protagonist and X-Omega which isn't a real game we've had the Odessa/Odyssyea from UX which is in between real and super which a very Super style finishing move and storyline, OE's Exert which is a real, Z3's Genion which stops being anything approaching a Real Robot after upgrading, BX's Falsaber which looks like it stepped out of a Brave Saga anime, and V's VangRay which was a Real but could upgrade into either style.
By the numbers we've had one definite super robot, one definite Real robot, one hybrid-y kind of robot, one real that became much more Super, and another Real that could go either way.
As a kind of irony the Xelguard is statted up way more like a Real Robot than a super. Its Size, mobility, and damage output make it resemble a really odd Gundam more than anything.
Omnicrom I would still count X-Omega, myself. It's not the traditional SRW style, but it's still got the name and a proper story. With that in mind, Van Ein is pretty much an Orbital Frame, so take that as you will.

You've gotta be splitting some serious hairs to argue that "In between Real and Super" does not encompass "Real Robot with Super Robot elements". Are you seriously taking me to task for a distinction with little difference?
@@Omnicrom speaking of real robot with super robot element.... Granzon is kind of there... When u are real robot that have all the goodies for real but then u also have super robot dmg and defense along with hp...
Althou granzon is kinda.... Cheaty unit (not like u actually gonna use it in Moon Dwellers cuz he appear so late 9 stage before the final boss... Still a good unit thou)...

Well your character is a mage out of the mech too, so it fits.

if this thing ever happens to appear in the OG games, i think it will have something to do with the Masou Kishin stuffs
Obviously, Cybuster was included in SRW X because of the magic theme in the game. I imagine Xelguard would be fit in with the Masou Kishin mechs just fine.

I think both sides(X protags and Masaki) would be freaked out about running into each other again.

i just started srw x, I just want to know if xelguard is a cqb or ranged so i can pick which parameters to upgrade
I think it has a bit of both since it's your only mecha (unlike say, SRWJ where you get to choose between specialized machines like Bellzelute and Coustwell).
Late answer, but all of it's attacks except one are Ranged.

Well it's going to be tough if you don't upgrade your robots, but it's doable (especially if you're not planning to do battle masteries). I once got through 90% of Alpha without upgrading my Grungust.

I made all of Xelguard's attacks better by changing the BGM.
- First two attacks: OP of Aura Battle.
- Third and fourth attacks: Mazinkaiser.
- Final two attacks: The Guardian.
One big question : is this PS4 Version or Vita?
Because on Vita Version when i use Iori, the text is kinda like "i' ll take you down"..... Is this only happen on Iori, or only in Vita(I haven't play using Amari so i dunno)..... Regarding BGM, i like Amari's final BGM more than Chisato(Dislike it so much that make me change her BGM into Matte Black Bullet. Yup MBB is that great for me). Iori's Final BGM is not that bad, but MBB is superior than that... Have to customize their BGM into Phoenix Wright Vs Layton's Pursuit - Casting Magic except for their Final Attack using their Final BGM(Magic theme must change into another magic theme also, using MBB on them is kinda weird LoL)
PS4 version. The vita version has text spacing issues.
ZengarZanvolt No freakin' wonder..... Also some of the translations are either weird as hell(Wataru's Hisatsu into Hiyah, Mazin Emperor G's Great Blaster to Great Booster which they haven't fix it since V), some dialogs are over translate(1 of some example..... Hina's "Aoba to nara" which means together with Aoba, but they add "we're invincible" which lead to "Yatte Miseru" which if i'm not wrong, the meaning is we'll do our best that makes it awkward..... In my opinion that is.....) and under translated(Such as Gargoyle-Sama translated into Gargoyle only..... Can't they translate it into "Lord Gargoyle"? If i remember correctly, this translation is good on V since they address Desler with "Lord", except for Judau calling Marida Cruz A. K. A Ple 12 with "He".....

Xelguard's alright i guess but upgrade wise it just cant beat vangray's simple yet visually impressive upgrade cycle of obtaining bigger gun. No amount of flashy fancypants magic will ever change that
I, myself, am more of a fan of the Super Robot "Punch Reality until it Breaks!" school, but even I agree that the Xelguard is unimpressive compared to the Vangray/Granvang/Vangnex. In particular, because there's no real change to the Xelguard. Sure, Iori/Amari change as characters thus granting them new powers, but the mech itself never gets an upgrade that allows it to keep up with that. I had a lot of trouble keeping the Xelguard alive in the later levels, even full upgraded. Unlike the Granvang/Vangnex who I could just trust to dodge/tank everything.
If they gave the Xelguard either a different form, or allowed us to choose an upgrade like in V, the Xelguard would've been better.
Guess trouble with fantasy based robots (Super or real in other fantasy based series) they rarely get upgrades with Escaflowne and Broken Blade being good examples.
One way they could get a fantasy-style upgrade right would be by giving the mech a comparatively sized mount to ride into battle, instead of the usual mecha expansion packs with rocket boosters or shoulder guns.
@@MaxHDAvenger I'd like to point out that the Villkiss got better features as the game progressed, and even gaining it's own version of double-image despite being practically a fantasy robot, heck, Ryujinmaru got an upgrade too, and that was from a series that is a fantasy isekai.
I mean, even with a robot like Xelguard, would it have killed them to have a special "wing open" mode, and have it function similar to N-TD from SRW V? the only way I can get it not be be hit is if I either A: outrange a unit, or B: use a spirit.

I will decide which MC robot in the Switch SRW games is the best:
V: The Vangray is more on ranged weapons and relies on speed and power instead of defenses. I would recommend Hyper Reloader, strong armor parts, and/or an barrier generator part. It definitely got an upgrade, you can pick one of the two; one is faster and stronger and the other carries an bomb.
X: It’s an mage robot doing magic and martial arts. The Xelguard relies on magic which can boost its defenses and attacks and is more of close combat than ranged weapons. It’s fast, and nibble. The Xelguard had some of the best attacks in the game, sadly they are very costly to its EN. I would recommend the Hyper Generator which can refill your EN instantly whenever your turn begins, CQB Supporter, strong armor parts, and/or parts to recover your SP since this MC has some of the best SP choices. Sadly, this robot never got an upgrade, but the MC can learn new magic and attacks.
T: The Tyranado is an mix of close combat and ranged robot. It may not be the best, but it’s looks kickass when it got an upgrade. It has some of the best attacks in the series. I would recommend the Hyper Generator, Reloader, strong armor parts, CQB supporter, and/or barrier parts.
30: Definitely one of the worst super robots in the series. It’s more of ranged than close combat. It had only one powerful attack which is an black hole. There’s one robot that is almost similar in SRW V and it’s a bit worse than this one.
The best MC super robot in this is the Xelguard.
Hucklebein 30th got so lazy animation. Drei Kreuz, too. Despite their broken mechanics makes them super powerful.
I hate that Hucklebein 30th has to carry the big cannon in his back. It is not cool compared to other versions. The cannon flies to the Hucklebein and he grabs it and shoots.
The game itself is pretty good for the new overworld map for choosing to go where and recruit members or train.

Meh I didn't like the fact that the Xelguard didn't get a physical upgrade. And Chitose Kisaragi's theme is much better IMO.
I feel like SRW has become a little lazy. I miss the time we would have many original robots to choose from start. They could at least have changed the spells/movesets used in Xelguard depending on the pilot you chose.

Dude, SRW already used almost all of MCU's tropes before MCU was a plan in Feige's head.
A (comparatively) small core band of heroes? Check.
Evil empires? Check.
Shady organizations? Check.
Backstabbing? Check.
Heel face turns? Like you won't believe.

Remember Banpresto made Masoukishin because they love Dunbine very much but cannot own the ip. Oh and Demonbane that joined on 3ds' SRW use magical tome as power source.
Meh, the Brasta and the VangRay are better.
