This movie was years ahead of its time and that’s why no one really gave it the attention it deserves it should be up there with titanic and avatar Edit: I did not mean in terms of quality but of how well known and popular the film turned out to be compared to these films
This scene has been resonating with me lately, I see myself in Cooper's shoes seeing my dad leave for the hospital wishing I had held him longer one last time. He passed away yesterday and I wish I could have said how much I loved and appreciated him and how grateful I was to have a dad like him.
+Julian George -i know right RT f*cked this movie over big time ,made me doubt watching this movie, until i heard it was directed by Christopher Nolan, then i had to watch it. Hands down one of the best movies I've ever seen in my entire life, seriously.
+Julian George Dude people take RT too literally. If something get 74% it doesn't mean the movie is only 74% good whereas something like Furious 7 is 85% good. It simply means that 74% of the 100+ critics that reviewed the film gave it a positive review. 7 critics could have given the film absolutely raving reviews saying its the best science fiction film of all time and 3 could say it was just okay but too flawed to give a thumbs up and the aggregate score would average out to 70%. It's not a very good system for judging movies. Since the only way anyone can objectively judge a movie is by looking at consensus, imdb is much more accurate because it takes into account hundreds of thousands of reviews and averages out the score each user awarded it.
Yeah I've been looking at imdb's ,movie rating more than RT's, because I've watched some great movies that RT rated really low. Sometimes I'm just baffled on some of the movie ratings. "Some"

0:56 this to me is one of the most heart breaking scenes of cinema, Cooper knows that he broke his promise to Murph, and that right there was his last chance to change things, yet it didn’t happen. And Matthew’s acting here is just perfect for how sad it is.
Imagine being able to watch yourself do something you regret infinitely. And to add to that, you regret it because you're hurting someone you love. That would be hell. I remember when I first saw Cooper enter the tesseract. I thought that he was going to be trapped in there forever. lol. Then he had to constantly see himself leaving murph (of course until he understands the tesseract). Image if you were Cooper. Anyone else could have gone insane.
This was an amazing movie, a true masterpiece. It dived into some serious physics, that even professors don’t understand, it conveyed a story full of emotions and tension, and the music was on spot. It’s shows off relativity, dimensions and time, in a way that we can all understand. It pulled men into tears, and made professors bow before it. It is an amazing piece of art, and will be for a long time.
@TurboCMinusMinus what you dont get is that the black hole isnt really a black hole but a five dimentional construct controled by beings beyond our understanding
@TurboCMinusMinus u are right, you would get pulled in like a Spaghetti, the feet first, if you Position like that and yeah, but yeah it is a 5dimensional construct, and we dont even learned how to Control 4d
This kind of thing was started when the universe formed. It's a kind of whirlpool that spits you out the other side and you go back in again. And it has infinite variations. This is one.
“Don’t let me leave Murph”. Most gut wrenching crushing moment in the film (arguably ANY film), all alone in the vacuum of space for eternity, is then immediately followed by the comforting voice of TARS and a meagre of hope is rekindled. If this isn’t genius I don’t know what is…
Imagine if this is what happens to us when we die, forever trapped in a point in time, desperate to do anything to keep us alive, perhaps ghosts are not trying to terrify us, they are just scared and try to change everything to be alive again.
No matter how many times I watch this I still cry every time. One of the most touching scenes ever. She realized he was her ghost the whole time...I love it.
The guy is in space, on a mission to look for a habitable planet, cos the earth is on the brink of extinction. as an unknown disease is spreading, that affects the crops, so they come across a planet that looks habitable, but the problem is it is near to black hole named gargantua, long story short 1 hour on this planet is equal to 7 years on earth and on the spaceship from where he went on mission, something goes wrong and a lot of time is wasted almost 20 years. And when they are back on the ship he looks msgs of his son and daughter that are now grown up and about his age.
He enters the black hole (gargantua) and within the blackhole there is a tesseract. Which is basically infinite 3 dimensions ontop of eachother. Or the 5th dimension as a 3rd dimensional being would see it. (being able to look at all point of time at once) The tesseract which he is in during this seen was constructed by the 5D being as a way to communicate to the past without disrupting anything. He uses gravity in this scene as gravity is scientifically the only thing that "leaks" or crosses other dimension. Long story short, hes in a realistic time machine trying to send a message to the past without interfering. Hope this helps. I'd suggest watching the movie as its very difficult to just explain parts of it without a backstory. It would be worth your time. Its a masterpiece if you understand whats happening.
Imagine this is happening right now but we have no way to connect with our future selves and we are being warned and every single tiny thing like a penny being 51% more to be flipped on tails and random objects falling when it seems like no one is there is there way of communicating and the cycle just goes on.

I just got to see this movie for the first time in IMAX yesterday. I've been waiting years for the right moment and it finally came. What a well written movie. Man.
I don’t usually cry from movies, but this movie makes me ball my eyes out every time. Especially this scene. Matthew McConaughey was so damn good in this.
This movie reminds me of my mother. I can feel her love for me as her son. She would do anything for me and I forever love her unconditionally for that.
What's crazy is I watched this as I got on a plane. I left my family, because I took a job, and I was all excited and happy for the opportunity. Yet it made me think about how I'm going to miss my family. Very sad
+william sewell OH MY GOSH! I HAD THE SAME EXPERIENCE. I was leaving for school in the US from Australia and I watched this on the plane. Lets just say there was a lot of crying, I'm sure the people next to me thought I was crazy...
After watching Tenet and then this scene again, I was reminded of one of the recurring themes in Tenet by this scene...”You can’t change things in the past that you’ve already seen...what’s happened, HAPPENED”. So once Cooper realized he can’t get his past self to “stay” and that he can’t change things, he started viewing things differently, and this is when he got a clear understanding of how time works in this world. Only then was he able to use this logic and try a different method (Morse Code on the watch using gravity in this 5 dimensional contraption) which ended up working in the end as we know.
It's rare that a movie can be so complex and thought provoking all while being one of the most emotionally charged movies I've ever seen. Matthew is at his best, the plot line is deep, the music is exceptional- this is quite possibly the closest thing to a perfect movie I'll ever see and yet it doesn't get nearly enough recognition for what it truly is: a masterpiece.
this movie is simply wonderful, as a father with two young daughters this scene in particular hit me so hard i felt my heart literally swell in my chest as i cried tears that were long overdue
As I have said before This is THE BEST MOVIE of 2014.The MUSIC is STELLAR,The CONCEPT is STELLAR,The ACTING is STELLAR.This movie needs an AWARD of some kind!!
Jeffrey Lebowski Oscars are mostly politics...I think anyone with common sense know this by now, we had the proof with all the great actors that didn't win, directors...music composer...etc...etc...
The 'don't make me leave' is like some people say to themselves 'don't smoke that cigarette', 'don't cheat', 'don't eat that delicious cake', 'go for a run'. But we understand that talking won't work, just like he can't yell 'don't make me leave' and it would work. This is basically a metaphor for the communication between the conscious and the subconscious, the subconscious communicates with us by sending urges, the urge to eat, to have sex, to do something we're addicted to, or need like drinking water etc. We try to control the bad urges by talking to ourselves and most times it doesn't work. That's why this scene gets you every time, because you can relate every time you try to stop yourself from going though a bad habit. You see yourself 'though the bookshelf' harming yourself, but the urge is strong and your body doesn't listen. And it's not about trying to change the past, the past actions are there to stay but, if you go though an inner journey you might discover new ways to communicate with your subconscious and change (Morph...) your future.
+Super Mayn (Joe) Have seen both! Crash blow me away with its "a good cloak scene" - brilliant. The Road was also very depressing! Great end! Other examples?
The way he screams - "No"...gives me chills. Matthew is incredible actor, as always. Interstellar is not a movie. It's experience. Brilliant one. Love it! Probably the best movie I saw since Green mile.
This scene made me cry. How beautiful, sad, McCounaughey nailed it. Thanks to Christopher Nolan and directors like him that I still believe that movie masterpieces can still be created. And critics gave Interstellar so low rates... It defines what I think of film critics :D.
I don't even watch the oscars anymore cause performances like this don't even get nominations. Just think, Matthew was in an all green screen room hanging from wires and had to perform like that.
@@Kiiiell wow, no green screen! impressive, but this is helpful to get an actor into the mood, acting on green screen sucks for an actor, nothing to ignite the imagination, a clever director understands this and builds sets to get maximum performance from their actors.
I think this scene is so powerful, because we all have moments that we look back on like this. Something that could’ve been so easily fixed, yet it changed our lives forever.
This was by far one of the most powerful scenes I've ever seen in cinema. Him banging on the bookshelf watching him leave his daughter made me cry my ass off not gonna lie, one subtle detail I thought was interesting too was early in the movie when he initially walked out of the room a book fell off the shelf right before he left, and once we realize it was him in literally another dimension was such a mind fuck. Such a brilliant movie and an overall masterpiece.
Kip Thorne, scientist who got an initial idea about this movie, said that convincing people that space exploration is important was one of his main goals.
We cant get out of the solar system physically, however we should definitely support scientists and engineers who are designing modern technologies to observe deep and far away space like the JWST.
This movie is such a powerful film it's heart wrenching and at the same time so relatable and then a few minutes later epic to the point of holding your breath and hold onto the edge of your seat and Hans Zimmerman's music just complements that mix so well and makes you feel as your a part of the movie..
Interstallar touches every genre you could think of and successfully pulls it off. This movie is toooo much greatness and didn’t get the recognition it deserves.

Hell is a stupid concept. If humans are there then they can't exist in physical form.. you know because of the "intense heat" and stuff. Beyond physical form life is not possible.. or if possible then this realm and that realm have no attachment. Furthermore humans aren't too good at obedience in this world, so whoever is in charge of managing discipline would need to be an immensely powerful and advanced being... that devil you freaks fear just doesn't seem capable of such a task. But hey.. you keep fearing the possibility.. its what the bible intended.
+Hello you are speaking with Rakesh won't know until the end. Not saying I believe in it but you have to keep an open mind to things such as life after death. Won't find out till that day comes
SpazticzGamer as you may (or maybe didn't) pick up... i don't rule out an after life.. all i did was apply simple logic to the possibility of the two coinciding... specially in the manner in which the bible depicts it.... AS AN ETERNAL PUNISHMENT FOR YOUR SINS IN THIS WORLD... oh shit im scared just thinking it... obedience is my virtue... you know because way back when all these cute bible stories mattered... a regular soul did not have the luxury of "googling"... "will i go to hell for stealing that stale bread that shut my stomach up for a brief moment". TERRORISM is the new religion... not for the worshiping of it.. but as the tool to rule over the masses with the ominous fear that shall keep them in check.

This movie was years ahead of its time and that’s why no one really gave it the attention it deserves it should be up there with titanic and avatar
Edit: I did not mean in terms of quality but of how well known and popular the film turned out to be compared to these films
It should be a part 2 of this
Titanic and dances with smurfs? Way to damn this movie with faint praise ...
Arun titanic was considered one of the best movies and got worldwide praise so I think that’s what he meant
Nolan is a time traveler
peculiar boast but alas much better than Avatar
This scene has been resonating with me lately, I see myself in Cooper's shoes seeing my dad leave for the hospital wishing I had held him longer one last time. He passed away yesterday and I wish I could have said how much I loved and appreciated him and how grateful I was to have a dad like him.
I'm sorry to hear man. That's tough. I can't imagine myself in your shoes. Feel better, feel better buddy.

this movie is a prime example of why the critics are wrong. one of my favorite movies of all time and a measly 74% on RT

Oh :c

It just doesn't matter how many times I watch it.
So why are u watching it?
It's always emotional
+Faheem Saiyed If you have the time can you please explain this scene and what is he in?

And to bad it didn't get an Oscar, ashamed
Pure Fun and Stopmotions Not true. It won best Visual Effects ;)
Pure Fun and Stopmotions Best visual FX and best original soundtrack by Hans Zimmer ;)
The score from The Grand Budapest Hotel was better ! It deserved the Oscar !
Jeffrey Lebowski
Oscars are mostly politics...I think anyone with common sense know this by now, we had the proof with all the great actors that didn't win, directors...music composer...etc...etc...
This was probably the saddest scene I've ever seen in a movie...ever. And I've seen plenty of pretty depressing movies.

Looking back on this decade, easily one of the best movies that came out.
This scene made me cry. How beautiful, sad, McCounaughey nailed it. Thanks to Christopher Nolan and directors like him that I still believe that movie masterpieces can still be created. And critics gave Interstellar so low rates... It defines what I think of film critics :D.
Film critiquing is completely subjective and a load of bullshit. It's a wonder why anyone takes their reviews for anything.
I don't even watch the oscars anymore cause performances like this don't even get nominations. Just think, Matthew was in an all green screen room hanging from wires and had to perform like that.
The room was actually built irl but still a great performance
Not a single green screen was used in Interstellar actually
believe it or not this actually wasn’t green screen

This movie makes me wanna go to space just to see what's out there.
I don't know is it just me or can u guys feel it too
Kip Thorne, scientist who got an initial idea about this movie, said that convincing people that space exploration is important was one of his main goals.
Idk about that fam the space is more scarier than the fķing ocean
