Good info to know. That’s something a lot of people do not think about. You guys are awesome about providing info that a lot of others do not and your very realistic about it all.
Hi Rachel, thanks for sharing these helpful details. It's been roughly 2.5 years, if you were starting over, would you still pick Florida? Also, would you still advise following the basic steps you laid out in your video? Thanks for your help!
Excellent video thank you! I've been down a long rabbit hole in searching the best income tax free states side by side. My top priorities are no income tax, no retirement tax (I have a 401k), no requirement to be physically present in state for long, no vehicle emissions or safety inspections. Can you offer any spreadsheets you may have showing a side by side state comparison as I'm sure you created at some point? Or any websites that you found very good at what I'm after? Please!!!!
I have a domicle address in Florida for a year now. I travel all over the country doing business and ne car reged to get new plates on my car but don't have time to get them done before they expire. Can I get my car plated for florida without driving down to florida?
Still trying to wrap my head around on the steps. Do I buy an RV, sell my house, and then get start the Florida domicile? Or do I complete the Florida domicile before I sell my home in North Carolina?
You should do it before so that are are all set once you sell the house. You want to change your address there before you sell since you don't want it showing up at your old place.
@@roncummins9614 , hehe... having somewhere to live would be the biggest repercussion. If you dont have an RV before selling your home, I guess you could live out of your car or pitch a tent somewhere till you get an RV...hehehehe
So you use your mail forwarding address on your drivers license? I moved to FL about a year ago and attempted to do that. It was either that or when I formed my LLC they said they could use that address as it appeared to be a Commerical property. I’m using iPostal1. The mailbox is in a Staples location.
Hello, I know it’s been a while since you aired this video. Couple questions. I currently live in SC but am retired and will be selling my condo. My intent is to full time travel across USA. (a mix of car camping and Airbnbs) I plan to set up a mail forwarding service in Florida or another income tax free state. I currently have bank accounts in SC. When you say bring two bills, can you provide examples? Do they need to be like utility bills from Florida or bank statements from a bank in Florida and not SC? Obviously I still have a SC driver license and plates…. Will that need to be changed as well? I’m guessing that the tax audit office recognizes your mail forwarding company as your residency? Thanks for any information
Great information thank you> Can you have the mail forward service ini one county and visit a different county tax collector office? The mail forward services are in different parts of Florida, I wish to fly into Florida Miami can I use the Miami Tax collector office , using my mail from a different part of Florida? thanks
I think I read previously that you can visit any county office, but I can't seem to find the link to that info. We visited an office in our county to set up domicle, but then registered our truck and RV while in a different county.
Banks, DMV & Tax Collectors Office all have the addresses of mail forwarding businesses & do NOT accept them as a physical address for Drivers License, new bank accounts, etc is my understanding. - Hasn't anyone else experienced this? This is posted 11/04/2022 so maybe the laws have changed since this video was posted several years ago
Escapees RV Club I use this place. Truck driver. Only ties I have are to ca and its usually where i spend about a week every couple months ( kids are still in ca) and stay for vacations in S. Dakota. That being said I use that place for a south Dakota residence. For me its better to have my cdl out of another state for a few reasons. No state taxes, mini van is registered there but sits in my terminal in phoenix lol
You're using RVMail and the post office does not recognize the new address? Can you expand on this? I'm literally fixing to hit "click" and sign up for this service.
You need to change your address, drivers license and everything else, but you'll have to check with local laws since many states automatically declare you a resident and force you to pay taxes is you are there for more than 6 months a year.
@@TheGrayAdventures Ok I wasn’t sure how that worked because we don’t have a pa address. We have an Illinois address on our licenses but we don’t rent or own property there anymore. Really our only tie to pa is her job because I work remote
When you find your land you want to live ft in your RV not a structure, you will need a physical address, by taking these steps she explains that is how you gain residency. In my case I have land in Florida just need to know if I can live in my rv on my land, have heard I can’t live in rv on my land, need a structure or building within a time frame … something to do with hurricanes, can only imagine the stips now after Ian…

I’m a trucker from Georgia trying to set up residency in Florida:)
Did it work for you
We are already residents of Florida, but wish to begin full time RV life. So, in using RVmail, do we still need documentation of new address?

Thanks! Super easy to understand and very helpful.
Glad we could help.

Do you have more information about homeschooling in RVs for Florida? Thanks!

@@TheGrayAdventures Thank you for the reply. Is there any repercussions to selling your home before purchasing an RV?

So you need to stay in your state of choice for a couple of weeks to get two pieces of mail for each person?
Also, what type of mail documents will they accept at the tax collector's office for your two pieces of mail ?
Bills and bank statements work best.

Do banks except your mail forwarding address?
Can the address be a campsite?
Not sure how to go about getting an address they'll accept..
Thanks so much for this video!
Typically not, unless the campground allows it. Using a mail forwarding service is the best option.
Can you get the Florida drivers license with the mailing forwarding service address?
I don't have a vehicle....Can I still switch over to Florida for domicile ?
Shouldn't be an issue.
Thank you

I did this and still have no address on my license.
How did the school district in FL accept your address being a mail forwarding service? I'm not sure how MN would handle that.
We resigtered our kids with a homeschool program and everything worked out fine.
Someone told me you have to prove that you are physically in Florida seven months of each year, to maintain a Domicile there?
That wasn't the case for us when we traveled. It's possible rules have changed.

We are using this same service but the address they gave us is not accepted by the USPS, now what do we do, any suggestions?

What was the verdict?
Great job thx you.😁🖒
What is with going to a tax collector office never had to do that in other state that I have moved to
That's what it's called in Florida. It's their version of the DMV.
@@TheGrayAdventures thanks for the reply
So if we work full time in Pennsylvania living in a travel trailer will we be able to establish our residence in Florida still?
You need to change your address, drivers license and everything else, but you'll have to check with local laws since many states automatically declare you a resident and force you to pay taxes is you are there for more than 6 months a year.

yea its kind of silly you need paper mail I have been paperless for a decade or more lol really just silly they have to do this
What was the purpose of going to the tax collector's office? I'm not clear on that. Thanks.
That's just where you have to go in FL, rather than the DMV.
