Hi Paul I was one of the other guys who turned up on that day I said hello. It was your viideo finding groot that got me going to cannock chase. It is such a great place for large old oaks, I will have to keep a lookout for the large rap around oak.Great shots as allways keep it up.Thanks.
You are correct in saying a lot of photographers only show their best images of a shoot but I rather like the way you show a lot more of your images. You show your best images and, in your own words, some that are not so good but it's real and it kinda gives us an insight to your thought process as to how you get your images. Stick with showing us lots of your photos. Many thanks.
@@paulcomptonpdphotography yes mate, Cannock is my local stomping ground if I'm ever at a loss, the same bloke that showed you where Groot was showed me about a month later 🤣
Wow, I've just checked and it's exactly a year ago today that I discovered Mr Groot and took several photographs of 'him' and by complete coincidence, your video came up as a recommendation today, too.
Great video. Directed here after posting a pic of this tree in a group on Facebook. I like to think of him as an Ent from LOTR and to me he's walking up the hill into the shot. Pic I took was just a quick phone shot as a ref to come back to when conditions were better
i would love to get his in the perfect conditions, i have been twice on video maybe look up my other video let me know what you think.. i cant see him walking up ill have to re look at him next time
The shot you took at 25mins is absolutely brilliant! Just love the lighting in it and the warm colours on the ferns. Loved all the pics but you got better as the day progressed.......what beautiful trees though, such a special place.
Although I had to watch this vlog in stops and starts between jumping around the local area to get shots when the light crept out, it still hung together pretty well. It's a pity the Osmo died because the shots at the end were the best shots, although as someone else commented they did get better throughout the vlog. You always give a good concept that photography is a process and as long as its relevant to actually taking a photo or the environment you're in it works. Groot needs some light or mist to give separation from that branch above his head. Maybe a late evening shot with someone hiding behind the other tree with a wide beamed torch or some light painting, just a thought.
You did very well there Paul. It's never easy in a woodland setting sorting out the wheat from the chaff or even the wood from the trees🤣 Did you manage to find Groots mate Forest Stump?? A lot of people are looking for him including Special Branch🤣 📷👍🍂
Paul, I follow your channel and your adventures, would love to join you one day and do some landscape photography… 👍🏻 I think in this video, there’s a shot which I think you’ve missed (you’ll be able to tell me more) but I think as a pano shot with the path right down the centre, on minute marker 30:00 exactly… if you see what I mean… Other than some cool images in this video… 👍🏻
maybe, but would not say it was when i was there as we were on top of a hill the white sky was to much between the trees, I would be happy for you to join me, now i do do some photos walks email me.. www.paulcomptonpdphotography.co.uk/contact
I thought Groot was wonderful and as for the entwined trees, yeah they were all good but No.4 stood out from the 6 to choose from. You are not an ordinary photographer in my opinion as you have both the vision, artistic and technical skills to develop your images
Entwined trees, shot at 11.30. For sure you will get a corker but I doubt it will be the one that everybody and his wife are photographing. You know those photographic guide books they do, the only reason for buying them is to avoid photographing anything in them!
This is truly a remarkable tree, if you would like to come for a walk around Cannock with me please do ask.. email me for details through my website.

haha thank you just dont see myself as much more haha
Nice images Paul, but I agree with you...you simply needed more mist to separate the subject from the background.
Defo more mist
Can't see a link to Steves site ..??
ill add it now

all your images are worthy of showing. You often say your Osmo battery has run out do you not carry a pocket sized power pack!
I have some small power packs mow lol
No it's no groot it's treebeard! >:(
haha could well be,
common puffballs not edible 12/13 mins
