Snehesh is as valuable an asset for ThePrint as the P75I programme submarines are for the Navy.
indian navy is way ahead of the army or airforce when it comes to goal setting and designs of its own.
Oh yeah navy is ahead of curve in terms of indigenization.

The aircraft carrier and submarine programs are an example of the Indian Navy not being able to tell its face from its posterior.
They are competent in manufacturing.. However, Navy is severly lacking in numbers.. A minimum of 2 ACs and 16 subs should be operational at all times for adeqaute force projection in the IOR. Army is doing okay.. IAF.. Well.. HAL is complacent in inefficiency and at times incompetent because muh bureacracy and skill issue.
@@kevinvjanc India needs at least 40-45 submarines and 4-5 Aircraft Carriers. The Indian defence industry is still way behind.

We are highly indebted to the DRDO and HAL for the extraordinary delays and inefficiencies! There are working for pensions and job stability, not persuit of excellence!
Conventional submarines have little use against China.
China has a massive geographical advantage over India.
Han China, the heart of China is in the eastern coastal region well out of the reach of India's conventional weapons.
But, Chinese conventional weapons can strike all across north India starting from J&K all the way to Arunachal Pradesh.
To checkmate this enormous advantage, India needs at least a fleet of 15 SSGN, 5 SSBN and 10 nuclear attack submarines apart from a potent rocket force.
For this we will have to shelve the 3rd aircraft carrier and conventional diesel electric submarines program which are good only against Pakistan and pretty much useless as offensive weapons against China.

Why bother with conventional subs ... India should have all nuclear powered SSN and SSBNs.
First of all you seem like u don't know what you're talking about or have very limited knowledge in this field, if your gonna ask that then you should also be asking why buy 4+ gen aircraft, we should just buy 5 gen aircraft? If you know why that is then you answer your own question

So, buying or building unproven AIP technology so that subs can stay underwater longer is a smarter decision when nuclear powered subs having doing that for decades? India already has the capacity to build nuclear powered subs, my question is why not invest more in that. Royal Navy and US Navy do not run any diesel power subs for decades now. Feel free to share your "knowledge".

Honestly do n't give 75I to germany, they are not a trustworthy country. Remember they have delayed engine for liht tank and now for arjun mk1a tank. Who is to sa they will not do that again.
