I lived in Los Angeles for ten years and everyone I knew who considered themselves artistic acted exactly like this. Bowen Yang’s character in this is half the people I knew there. Also, love the Arclight theater shout out at the end.
I mean, it was basically just a skit for insiders. The writers/cast members are all professional comedians and have all probably spent hundreds of hours at these open mics. It's still funny to an outsider audience, but these are probably pretty well known tropes on the comedy club/open mic scene.
Kyle Mooney was so great here. It’s a departure from his usually more awkward guys or the scripted reality-speaking guys. I’ve met guys like in this skit.
“Why can’t you get here/you always suppose to be here/woah woah woah/you stood my fat ass for the last time” - Dia as Bowen Yang “being abandoned at the ArcLight movie theater” is such a mood.
This was actually pretty accurate in terms of capturing the essence of most open-mike shows - at least the ones I've been to. What would have made it more realistic: including at least one would-be 'stand-up comic', and someone who recites poetry.

Well, MASH started as a book, then a movie, then a TV show, and then, unknown to most people, a series of books. So I guess it's possible.

That's actually genius.

Okay can we just Melissa lowkey killed that🙌🙌🙌
I rewatched just that part like 3 times...🤣
I really wanted her to talk about eating candy from the dead lady's purse
She always does.. her singing voice is great.. check out the Welcome to Hell skit ..she sings a bit .. she can sing and her comedic timing is flawless
She just dropped an album, it's called Dreamer.
and Heidi Gardner is a horse !... Daaammmnnn !
"Powerful. Powerful."
"You're saying that about yourself?"
"Yes."
Melissa Villaseñor's lines were the most hilarious!
Her "Queen of the House" line!
Pete Davidson's dad died in 9/11
Oh Betty, with candy in your purse
You're dead but I'm sad
Tell me which is worse
I made your death about me!
I can't be the only one who wanted to sing you're dead-y

Bowen's little finger tap applause is great and almost unnoticed

“This is called my 9/11” OMG I just spit out my water😂
My head exploded when Kristen and Kate walked out on stage together.
Dressed as the ultimate lesbian sisters, Tegan and Sara
Melissa Villasenor has a good singing voice
self discarded king of ruin 72 I love it whenever they give her a Chance to sing in a skit
She actually came out with an album a bit ago called sweet Melissa
She was doing a Lana Del Ray thing. It was the best one.
She actually had a UA-cam channel with some of her stuff.
Yeah her lady Gaga was super good!
Why is the "cut for time" sketch always the best one of the night? Somebody's making some bad calls.
want the full "My 9/11" track lmao
Yes I need it on spotify
superduperjoi she has an album on Spotify, it’s pretty good
That Ryan Murphy joke though 😂
"You're dead, but I'm sad, tell me which is worse"
Yang is really funny. And they need to give Villaseñor more to do.
I think he is the least funny person in the cast. But that’s just my opinion
For some reason it made me really happy that Kate was pretending to play actual chords even if it was mostly just a C lol
Ever since Kristen Stewart came out, her acting makes so much more sense. More gay movies with Kristen please Hollywood! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
She's bi so how does her having male love-interests not make sense?
"oooooohhhhh who am i? Who am I? Ooohhhhh where am I? Where am I?"

I have a sprained ankle. So I'm feeling pretty down.
It’s simple. I see Kristen Stewart and Kate and I click
If SNL didn’t have Kate they’d have to hire 10 more actors for the Saturday Night skits.
Tango Bango And Kenan
No 10000000more actors they’d needed
This entire skit was great. Everyone was great in it.
SNL, do better with these time cut skits.
Furious George I was at this dress rehearsal and they cut the most hilarious skits out. I wish they posted all of the cuts here.
This episode of SNL feels as though it has more "random" sketches than usual.
To go with how "random" American life at large has become, no doubt.
Keep in mind that this was cut for time.
And as usual...none of them remotely funny
Just like Mad TV and The Kids In The Hall.😂😅
T R no need to keep watching them lol
Things I liked best about this sketch:
The name "Moon Jumped the Cow".💙
Heidi's & Bowen's avant garde applause methods.💙
And Kyle & his song.💙
Can Beck physically give less than 100% of his effort? All evidence so far points to "no"
So SNL is only cutting the funny sketches now? This should’ve been aired. The hungry jury thing was pointless.
This wasnt cut tho...
@@downwardbubbles The video title says "Cut for Time"-this means that it didn't air during the original broadcast.

The most unrealistic part of this sketch is that there isn't 5 minutes of dead silence in between acts when the audio is still being set up
"I'm overwhelmed and the devil will trick me." 😂
“I made your death about meeeee!!”

Oh. There's Melissa... and in a cut-for-time sketch. I really feel like they're wasting her.
This was too good to be cut
Agreed!!!!
Yeah like why was this cut but the corporate song was still in it....
Bloomin Onion I LOVE Kate McKinnon, but yeah, they need to give the other ladies a chance to shine
Gonna admit that I hadn't watched weekend update when I wrote this. She was sooo good in it! I think she finally has a reoccurring character!!
Usually, I can see why some sketches are "cut for time" - shame this one didn't make broadcast, one of the funniest from this episode.
It was to on the nose and actually good for once. So..they cut it.

@@joetraw2110 That's a fair observation! I'm a couple of years into doing stand-up comedy, so maybe that's why I took a shine to it.

Other than maybe Kate McKinnon, Melissa Villaseñor might have the most raw talent right now on Saturday Night Live. She is highly underused.
What do you mean “Cut for time”?
They had an extra hour lol
Here's to Melissa, may she be the next Kristin Wiig.
Her figure is amazing and she's funny as hell. Love it that she doesn't lose character. I hate that breaking character bs. It's not funny.
When you think you can’t love this show more they make fun of Tegan and Sara, Lana Del Rey and John Mayer
