I'm sorry you lost your brother and friend. Thank you for sharing your technique for the creation of those wonderful plaques. I may attempt something like it for custom garden plaques.
I didn't expect to cry watching a video about etching a brass plate but here I am. Everyone works through loss in their own way. This is a beautiful way to try and honor him, and do what you know and what you can to honor his memory. The coffee can thing seems like a way to try and bring some levity to the whole situation. Well done with the etching and video editing too. What a shit thing to happen out of the blue. Sorry for you loss. Edit: Thanks for not hiding what had you in the mind to need to etch a plate with something more light-hearted. Knowing how to make things serves folks in all parts of life, and life isn't always peaches and sunshine.
Sorry for your loss. Regarding thermal transfer, you really need a special type of paper (I don't know what it's called in English), but in terms of grams it can be 130-300 g/m2. I had the best results with 160g. The print needs to be on a laser printer or photocopied(no luck there). When printing check the box saying something like print in real dimensions. The temperature is not that important but the pressure is. It needs quite a lot of force. After that you soak it in water and gently remove the paper, rubbing the leftovers with your finger. If some pieces are in between the tracks remove them with a toothbrush and a toothpick.
It sounds like you and your brother shared a special maker connection as well as being a great friend. The remembrance plague was a great tribute to that bond. I’m terribly sorry for your loss, Becky.
My condolences on your loss. My congratulations that you got to know someone so special that you have grief over their passing. Your sorrow is your tribute, embrace it.
Interesting use to add to the list for vinyl. A motorcycle is the most fun you can have by yourself and is worth the multitude of risks we face every ride. It's very sad that most of us are injured or worse by a vehicle not of our own doing.
We used to hang with your brother and family when they lived in Virginia. He was a cool dude. I was very sad to hear of his passing. My condolences to you and the family.
I’m so sorry to hear about your brother. This was a beautiful tribute and I genuinely think grieving through craft can be a great way to process (I did a crafty project for my grandfather when he died and it really helped).
Amazing work as always but even more so considering the subject matter. Condolences on your loss. If he was anything like you (and judging by the amazing home made gifts, he was) it's a loss shared by many.
What a lovely tribute. My deepest condolences for your loss.
