- New project!! We will be building out a 2021 Dodge Promaster 2500 159 inch wheel base van and turning it into a beautiful tiny home on wheels.
I have built a sailboat, a dinghy, two teardrops and an RV. What better way to combine all builds into one, than to build out a van and enjoy many travels! Journey with me as I put my skills to the test and turn an ordinary cargo van into a luxurious dwelling place on wheels!
We will compliment this van with a full size bed, bench seating for two, running water, full electric, propane cooking appliances, lights throughout, outside shower, and top it off with solar power to run everything. And to add that extra flare… we will do it in BATMAN style!
I hope to see you until the end when we will do a complete tour of the finished van. I hope you like it!
Thanks for staying tuned and watching the videos… now, let’s get started!

Looking good Al. The floor plan looks very functional. Just remember, if a little glue is good, a lot of glue is better! That’s my motto! 😁😎
I'm with you there! Thanks Dan!
The build is rocking along beautifully! WooHoo! ~Jim~
Be hitting the road soon! :)
@@OregonBatman That was a great maiden first trip in the new wheels! 👍😎
Looking great OBM! It's really going to be something special. Thanks for the video and stay safe.
Thank ya sir... been a great build so far!
Don't forget that your refrigerator needs to have air circulation! Provide some grills in the bulkhead and door.
Absolutely! I will be installing vents in the door at some point when ready to supply power to fridge plus will have an opening through the bulkhead for the power supply... thanks for the comment David!
Thank you for sharing your build with us! Lots of good techniques and ideas on building it out correctly. I just wanted to suggest that you add some angle supports between the fridge drawer and the front face. I've found that the weight of the fridge once loaded with food puts a lot of stress on the drawer front and the drawer causing the front to pull away from the drawer. Don't ask how I know! Good luck with the rest of the build. Mark
Thank you for the tip! This will definitely be something I keep an eye on... will probably be one of the finishing touches I do when I complete the build!
Holy let there be light, Bat(e)man! I like your conical shaped lamps! Amazon?
Those cone lights were really something for this video! Very helpful in illuminating the subject!
He John! Actually... lights came from ULINE, but guessing can get from Amazon as well. Make for a couple nice bed side lamps!
Great video Al! That Thetford Curve even has a hidden compartment for the loo roll! I am just wondering about your drawer slides for the toilet: they don't look that much Heavy Duty to support the weight of a person sitting on it.
The slides are 100 lb each... a little on the light side. As the drawer slides open, there is about a 1/4" from door to floor, so when opened... it almost touches floor. The door is actually supporting the weight when opened. Works very well and don't see a need to change them out just yet.
Never made drawers before....so what kind of wood did you use??
Your build is coming nicely!!
Hey BeachBum... used 1/2" x 5-1/2" clear pine for the drawers. Very strong and lightweight. Thanks for checking it out!
Very nice. Going to make new drawers for mine. Will you have some kind of latch on the drawers?
Definitely need some sort of latch for the drawers. Took a trio this weekend and they kept opening and closing, so will need to install. I have the latches, just need to put them in!
Curious how'd you know to use 1 3/4 screws to secure cabinets through the floor? What does the Promaster floor consist of below the laminate flooring you added and how do ensure you don't screw into a fuel /brake line or wiring harness?
I think I actually ended up using 1-1/4" screws... with the installed and laminate and the wood, I'm right at 1-1/4"
👈🏼👍🏼
Fine and dandy!
Woodsmith magazine started a series on using a CNC. One of them was how to make some pretty cool drawers. Maybe you can try it on your next project. I’m also kinda curious to see how that drawer holds up when you sit on the potty.

I need to make some drawers to fit in the bulkhead between bench and kitchen... plan is to use the CNC for those. Will try and make flush mount drawers for this one... we will see how it goes. Drawer hold up fine under the weight. When drawer is opened, the face of the drawer touches the floor and supports the weight, I'll have to make a demo of it in action... but works great!
