The movie is Spanish, and was filmed almost without money. The crew had many difficulties but the movie went ahead. Furthermore, Spain has no tradition on superhero movies and many special effects was used for first time. With more budget it can be a great movie, despite so it's full of good scenes: some effects are really low budget effects, but other are really good. The movie was shot for kids and teens mainly. The disco theme song was extremely popular the saturday nights 👍
I wonder if anyone involved with 'Pod People' worked on this one. The flying scenes are cheesy but immensely better than 'Pumaman'. I'm presuming this was made right after Franco died and Spain started having a little fun with things.
Cameron Mitchell is just a total legend, future war, deadly prey, CLOSE THE FUCKING DOOR, raw force, passed out drunk in low blow.. hes in the hall of fame of Best of the Worst as well as Rifftrax haha, stumbling his way through b movies wasted
"Do not be afraid." "Be wary and puzzled." This summed up what my reaction would be if Supersonic Man walked towards me, speaking without moving his mouth.
7:42 Yes that guy with the grey hair is Burt the Poacher from "Pod People", because this was directed by the same guy, Juan Piquer Simon. The actor is Frank Braña, a Spaniard who did a lot of budget European movies.
I'm reminded of 'The Final Sacrifice' when the bad guys are rolling down a slight incline and Mike riffs "Umm....does somebody want to hit the brakes?"
haha after seeing him in all those RLM best of the worsts, that kung fu island zombie one especially, i love seeing him in the rifftrax too, hes just the shitty movie legend
The hero's concept feels like a non-giant version of Ultraman, but with a mask and a cape. The robot reminds me of the "S3x Robot" sketch by The Whitest Kids U Know, but without the grooviness.
This is what happens when someone has an idea for a superhero movie that everyone says sucks and no bank will back it but they still push it and some how it still gets it made.
So... I have slightly more self-respect than to go looking up the full movie just to confirm this, but... I assume they don't ever explain who's talking at the beginning of the movie, or what the heck that's _about._ I mean, _Abraxis_ at least pretended to explain why it was inflicting Jesse Ventura on the world. I guess standards are lower in Europe.
Soon as I heard the dub voices, I figured this was yet another Italian film, but it's actually from Spain, so I guess the dubbing outlet was a broader European operation.

10:45 Fun fact: Cameron Mitchell (b. 1918) was actually a full year OLDER than José María Caffarel (b. 1919), who plays the "old man" scientist.

We should all take a moment to salute that cadre of brave men and women who struggled through the post-War decades in barely movable robot suits.
Oh, if only there was a B-Grade Superhero Cinematic Universe!
Super Argo and Puma Man would be perfect allies for Supersonic Man! And if they need a Hawkeye equivalent, they can call in Firehead.
