  • In this introductory video, I try to give a little insight into how I go about designing a piece of jewellery. I am not a professional jeweller but my work is selling quite successfully and in a series of videos that will follow, I will show you how I do things. I'm not saying that it's the right way to do things but it's a way that works for me and folks seem to like my work, they're buying it!!$$££!!
I'm not setting out to make a profit as I make these things for the pure joy of designing and making. I don't sell anything directly which means I use a selling agent (in my case the Art Centre in Aberystwyth, Wales UK and Tourist Information Centre gift shop also in Aberystwyth).
Typically, after agent's commission I will receive approximately 60% of the ticket price. The downside of this for me is I never get to meet the folks who are buying my work so I never get any feedback. By way of this series of videos I hope to encourage others to be creative and to have a go. I guess it's never too early to have a go and given that I'm in my 70's and have only been making jewellery for 14 months, it's never too late either!!
As time goes by, if there's any additional information that I think may be helpful, I'll add it into this description.
I hope you enjoy this introduction and if you subscribe you'll be sure to get further videos.
    Kind regards . . . Andy

Hi Greg. Man this took some putting together, technology can really get in the way can't it!! I'm not setting out to try and teach anyone anything, (I'll send them to your site to learn how to do things properly.) I just want to share my thoughts in the hope that they might inspire someone to 'Have a go' If just one person dose something good as a result of what I'm showing here then that would be great.
All the very pest my friend. Kind regards . . . Andy
(PS. for anyone else reading this, do checkout Greg Greenwoods jewlery making videos, you'll learn far more from him than me!!)

Love your work! They have a sort of solar-esc/planetary vibe and kind of remind me of the solar eclipse that recently happened

Hi thanks for the feedback , it is nice to have folks comments, good or bad, but obviously I hope for the good. I only make what I want to make and so far I have sold more than two thirds of the work that I have produced. but I have a couple of pieces that haven't sold, they are, to my eye, attractive and I can't understand why they haven't been bought. Maybe I'll have to put them up here to see what feedback I get from a wider audience.
      Thanks again . . . Andy

Green stone looks like a form of jade, which should look nice when complete.

Thanks for the feedback, I do appreciate it. I think it might be jade but unless I can tell for sure I'll have to call it 'Green stone.' all the best . . . Andy

Andy, I just had a brainstorm happen on my side of the pond. What would be the best disguise to hide a security camera on the other side for concealment ?? The trick would be having a clear lens that would not cause a distortion of the image coming in to the apriture.
    Keep up the great work......

Hi there, I'm not quite sure where you are going with this? Am I missing something about the camera work?? I know it's not the highest resolution, is the image not clear??
      All the best . . . Andy

Hi Andy, great past three videos. Just caught up on them as UA-cam's notifications lately and even showing videos from those Im subscribed to in my subscription feed has been very iffy.
Always great to see the thought process behind hobbiest activities. The work looks great, the plan looks great, and the techniques require a skill that I think you've gotten pretty good at by now. Similar to glassblowing, its not something you see every day and is one of the great fascinations.
Good to see you still active,
    Chris.

Hi Chris thanks for the nice comments. I'm 73 now and very pleased that I can still see and do things on a fine scale. I'm finding life very exciting and there are so many things I'd like to make and do and it's great to think that by the ability given to me by UA-cam that I might be able to pass on some of my enthusiasm and passion to create, to others for years to come.
      All the best . . . Andy
