    I would have killed for this when I had my Grasshopper 2 back in the day. It was my first hobby-grade RC car, and I've got some fond memories of going up against folks with RC10s and Losi vehicles.

    WOW! The Outtakes REALLY show how much abuse that it can take!!! 😲😎
    I forgot about this one. I want to get either the Grasshopper II or Rising Fighter - and do THIS.
    I saw how the second design update was necessary. Version 1 had the upper Rod out of line with the Lower Arm - creating Negative Camber gain on compression. Glad you fixed it. 😉
    You know what Alberto? I AM another one of those NUTZ who enjoy tinkering and reengineering Tamiya's bottom end line. 😜
    I just don't have the Engineering background, or ANY CAD skills, like you to actually be able to DO this.
    So I'm glad you're out there, doing what you do, for the rest of us!!! 😁
    Hey.... About a year ago, you mentioned a couple of times that you were going to design a King Blackfoot type Front Suspension for the ORV Chassis............
    Any closer?? 😁😁😁

    Looks very impressive. Good job on those slo mo jumps, showing it in action. Would really wish, for the looks, that those extra mounting holes on the uprights weren't there though. Would look more 'stock' if the uprights where shorter. But it works the way it is :-) Would love to see it mounted on your Hornet III RF. I think with everything AMPro mounted + a fix for the rear slamming, the Hornet III would actually work better than the DT-01. That would make it a real Hornet III - defeating the Super Hornet's replacement :-)

    • @AMPROEngineering
      @AMPROEngineering  8 років тому +1

      I agree with you on the holes but I felt that it was more important to have consistency on minimizing parts should someone have multiple of my front ends. Currently, every front end I make uses the same uprights. I just ordered a set for the Hornet 3 (Rising Fighter) in red. My next side project will be the trans pivot. That will be an easy one. The GH2 is also easy but the Super Hornet seems to be a massive challenge. You would think it is the same as the GH2 but the rear mounts on the shocks screw up the geometry. It is a bad design.

    • @NordicRC
      @NordicRC 8 років тому

      AMPRO Engineering Never had a Super Hornet up close and don't think I ever will. But I'm ready to transform my RF into a Hornet III :-) ... once I solve the problem with the rear Rolling axle. Saw a solution with a fishing line on a Hornet that might work with the RF as well but prefere a more visual pleasing solution. Keep up the good work.

    Hmmm.
    I wonder if you have thought about a kit that includes these GH2/SH/RF lowers & uprights with the upper from the GH/H, for the Hornet/Grasshopper.
    When Combined with the GH2/SH/RF inspired rear kit, & the battery/trans retainer & new door, they should work out nice.

    • @AMPROEngineering
      @AMPROEngineering  7 років тому +1

      I think I need some clarification on what you mean about the lowers, uprights and uppers for the cars. I am intrigued.

    • @ss9c1
      @ss9c1 7 років тому +1

      I am looking at doing a crazy Hopper/Hornet build.
      My idea includes:
      The front) Your Super Hornet lower a arm kit but using the Hornet upper control pivot and a Tamiya M04 (or Traxxas Bandit/Rustler) steering knuckles, either would likely need to be slightly modified to fit your uprights (c blocks), but they would allow modern hex mount wheels.
      The rear) Your (Super Hornet inspired) Hornet lower rear suspension mount, Hornet battery tray door, Hornet battery tray door retainer (which one depends on what gearbox I get), Hornet shock & wing mount (depends on whether I use a Hornet or Cyclone/Manx body), & Tamiya aluminum hex mount adapters for the Frog.
      Basically I wish to mix n match parts from your Hopper/Hornet & Hopper2/Super Hornet/Rising Fighter front suspension kits.
      Of course with plenty of parts and mules, you could probably try it out yourself (& possibly fix any errors while improving on the idea).
      What do you think?

    • @AMPROEngineering
      @AMPROEngineering  7 років тому +2

      Wow, the length people like us go to to mod an old car. I love it. Well with that kind of mod, I would say that the upper link be changed all around and not use any of the designs simply because they had constraints that you probably don't need to worry about. I think that a version of the Hornet center control pivot is what you would need. This project sounds amazing!

    • @ss9c1
      @ss9c1 7 років тому +1

      Yeah, it is an odd passion.
      But I am this way with RC cars, Hot Wheels & even the full size things, stock is fine, but sometimes, things need updating or just plain personalization.
      I also have an old Traxxas Bullet that I am restoring & an old Bolink Sport '91 {Jammin' Jimmy] that I am resto-modding, finally found an easily obtainable way to update to hex drive wheels thanks to servo city.

      The GH 2 is a cool little car. I like mine but a more useful upgrade is the trans brace I made for it. It keeps the car quiet so budgetarily (is that even a word) speaking, I would go for that before the arms.

    • @AMPROEngineering

    Those jumps......landings looked impressive! Even the off balance landings handled well. That double upper control arm mount looks MUCH stronger than the single one in the other kits....
    Any chance of a double brace for your other Buggy kits?? 😲 😲 😲 😲
    And, do you have a Novak ESC AND a Tamiya MSC in the SAME car?? I don't know if I'm seeing things.

    • @AMPROEngineering
      @AMPROEngineering  7 років тому +3

      Well it all has to do with how the load is applies. The upper link on the Hornets is very durable because of how they absorb impacts. The one i call the cosmetic upper link is very weak but as the name implies, it is there for cosmetics, lol. This one here did turn out to be stronger than I anticipated and I love that I have to make no mods to any part of that body or chassis to make it work. You know me and cutting stuff...i hate that.
      Lol and yes, I have MSC's in almost all of my cars for both cosmetics as well as a way to get them out of my drawers. I had around 30 in a drawer that was just for MSC's. I needed the room so I tried to sell them on ebay but no takers. Then I said screw it and installed them all as a way to get rid of them! Problem solved.

    • @CarminesRCTipsandTricks
      @CarminesRCTipsandTricks 7 років тому +2

      Now THAT'S some method of clearing stock!!! 😁 😂
      Yeah, the upper link on GH II, SH & RF just LOOKS more secure to me...
      I just like the look of strength.
      I hate to pop even MORE ideas in your head, but if you lengthened the upper tabs on that piece - as an OPTION for people who don't mind putting holes in their vehicles....
      That extended upper tab could have a second hole, to mount it with a screw, to the shock towers.
      I only did some basic math, but it appears that it would make the whole front assembly STRONGER than stock!
      Whadd'ya think?

    • @AMPROEngineering
      @AMPROEngineering  7 років тому +3

      Interesting thought. I see what you are saying as it would secure the whole thing much better. I need to investigate that. Well thought.

    Just came across this awesome mod, thought to myself "I got to have this !"
    So was fully prepared to buy a few sets, but then I went to the site and seen the price....... O.O
    Honest question here: why is this so expensive ????
    Seriously, I think for the price they're, there should be no cleanup needed to the parts before installing and all parts required included in a complete kit !
    Am I missing something here ???

    • @AMPROEngineering
      @AMPROEngineering  6 років тому +1

      Well, that is just what 3D printing costs right now. This time last year they were $5 more expensive. Injection molded parts would cost 10 times that since the quantity needed is so low so the printed parts are by far more viable. Ina few years price will drop even more and materials will get even better. 5 years ago when I started this, the suspension would have cost $100 or so! Crazy how far it has dropped and what materials we have now.

    • @pinmandan5164
      @pinmandan5164 6 років тому

      Thank you for the explanation, I don't know anything about 3D printing and the costs involved, I may wait for the Grasshopper / hornet front end to come down in price one day.
      The Lunchbox front end seems a little more reasonable, but I suppose there is less material there as well ?
      My trouble is, once I have this kit in one of my cars, then ill want it in all of them ! LOL
      Which will add up very quick and be very costly.

    • @AMPROEngineering

      The LB has fewer parts but the front tires and added bulk make the parts more vulnerable to damage so I tell everyone that they cannot run anything but a silver can. Ill have a video soon of my Pumpkin at the track with these arms.
