- Today SRAM released their new eMTB, Enduro and DH brake which is their most powerful brake they've ever produced. In this video we look at why mountain bikers need more powerful brakes, the tech inside the Mavens and offer our ride impressions after three weeks of mucking about with them.

I’ve put nearly 350 off road miles on the Maven Ultimates I installed on my 39 lb. Specialized Levo SL. Two things I really like was going from a 200 to a 180 rear rotor and a 220 to a 200 front rotor which still gave me exceptional stopping power with smaller rotors less likely to warp. The second thing was the ability to move my levers in and make them a one finger pull instead of a two finger pull. This gave me a better grip in rough terrain with more fingers doing the gripping since one finger on each lever provided plenty of pull. Took some practice during the first few rides to learn not to over pull and skid the tires. Now they feel completely natural and I will never go back to any previous models.
They're incredibly powerful. Great eMTB brakes.
Nice video! I plan on putting my Maven's on my Trek session as well.
You should!
I am 245 lbs and this year i am riding with a etroy mullet 2024 and i really think i should upgrade my brake i thing they would be a great add
The power is incredible
Great review! I weigh 200 lbs and my e-bike is 54 lbs. Would you suggest starting with 220/200 rotors? TIA!
yes
Probably best yea
Nice review. Does the lever feel stiffer than the codes?
Well, there's less lever force required to match the Codes power. And the 'feel' / ergonomics of the lever are practically identical to the Codes
Getting them added to my enduro bike right now but with 200mm rotors .. regretting that now, maybe I should have went 180mm :(
After a couple rides you might well adjust and be fine with the bigger rotors
@@bikenetwork_SA I got the bike back and yeah, super grippy !! did a massive endo that almost ended in tears lol
No cons ? many other reviewers mentioned the levers were more difficult to pull than some other brands .
I totally think these will make for more arm pump from the lever force required
@@KurtRWalker learn to use brakes
I felt a set at shop and yes they feel stiff compared to my TRP DH-R and watched a review where the guy was getting arm pump because of these
@@davetscantech if your talking about Dale stone... Hes a heavy shimano fan and drags brakes.
Most, including me get less arm pump compared to shimano when using mavens.,
@@MrSupermugen It's not just him. Several other youtube riders have mentioned it.
