Honestly, I know a lot of people were disappointed that there wasn't an actual Hunter fight, but his dream nail dialogue really gives an important window into his logic. If a hunter knows that a beast is stronger than they are, they know better than to try and hunt it.
I really hope Silksong has a Hunter-like character that we can fight, just to get an idea of how the Hunter would’ve fought. Unlike the Knight, Hornet could feasibly agree to spar with someone.
I liked you didn’t have to fight the Hunter. Considering all the enemies you had to defeat multiple times. Which requires numerous backtracking, the potential missable fossils, and the hours of gameplay ensuing to get to this point. The hunter is like: “You dedicated your time to this, I don’t want to fight you. You’ve earned the reward.” The boss music abruptly cutting is the icing on the cake.
Yeah, this is super missable. It looks like you have to do it while on the hunter's hand before picking up Hunter's Mark. It also is interesting that the Hunter seems to entertain the idea of being hunted by the Knight, though I can't quite understand why. The hunter hunts physically, but also do so to hunt for knowledge of the creature's he kills. So maybe to the Hunter, a desire to be hunted is a desire to be understood.
I think it's because they love hunting per se, and want to know the power of others. For example, they "proved their beasts' strength". I think they want to see the Knight fighting, and specially if it's against themself
Do keep in mind, The Hunter has trained beasts to hunt with him, only to turn on them in the midst of a hunt out of curiosity of the beasts strength. The Hunter has Also wondered what his insides taste like, and notably has tried stalking the intelligent lives in Hallownest (Hornet and The Collector, for instance.) It's not beyond imagination that he may have been interested in seeing the Knights combat himself, though it's most likely a thing that Team Cherry Wanted to implement but never got to (as others pointed out, hand animating that many leaves would cause madness.)

That kills the hunter, as a character. The hunter has expressed in the hunter’s journal that he finds that fighting for honour and pride useless. He only fights to hunt. The hunter doesn’t want to hunt what’s stronger than him.
Even after finding out we killed godlike beings and the hunter still is in doubt that are we stronger then him and still hopes that we come after him meaning he's longing for a fight to the death with us who killed beings like god. Like it makes me feel like he's absolutely very strong he would've been in godhome as a boss pls put the hunter boss fight in silksong if it ever comes out
Guys, the hunter is genuinely scared of the knight because he completed the journal and he want to keep peace between them but also hopes to fight us like cloth
I just hope that the hunters is our journal in silksong too and that we can fight him, I'd love it if he said something like regrettons that the knight wasn the one to kill him

We can tell that hornet looks the same between the silksong trailer and her appearance in hollow knight meaning If this was a prequel this would have to happen a bit before the quirrels appearance because he came before the knight and both fought, but she is the protector of hollow nest and has no reason to leave hallowenest unless the infection were to dissappear in some way like if someone like the knight were to come and stop it's spread. These small bugs escorting hornet in the cage are way too weak to capture hornet or even survive in the crossroads assuming hornet was in the crossroads because they definetly wouldn't survive anywhere else in hollow nest. So if this were to be a prequel it would need some things to happen It must take place between the period where hornet is at the same age as shown due to the identical image of hornet in both games, and before qurriel arrives in hollow nest There must be some reason for hornet to leave hollow nest because there is no way for those bugs to come down and capture hornet even if they used those Lumafly like bugs to capture her And lastly there would need to be a reason for hornet to lose all her abilities and equipment because she clearly isn't able to use any of this except for her spike balls and some other techniques. If this were a sequel then hornet would not only have a reason to leave because she no longer has anything to protect due to the fall of the infection she would also be more likely to be captured due to the storms outside of hollow nest wearing her down. There are still some mysteries that can't confirm whether silksong is a prequel or a sequel like if it was a sequel how could she escape black egg if all endings are Canon and how could she get caught if she was protecting hollow nest and it was a prequel. There are 2 endings where hornet can easily leave, dream no more and the hollow knight 2 other ones where it might be harder for her like embrace the void and delicate flower And then there is sealed siblings which would make it impossible for hornet to leave Delicate flower and embrace the void might be fine if the infection is gone and the pure vessel is back to normal but it is not confirmed if the pure vessel is hostile or not. Considering this if hollow knight is a sequel and team cherry has to pick which ending is Canon there is a 80% it's one where hornet can leave the black egg. My theory is hornet leaves the black egg and ventures out of hallow nest In search of a new kingdom or village with living creatures due to the storms she takes shelter nearby pharloom but still outside and not in sight where she is captured and put in a cage in her sleep where the next events are seen in the trailer. But this could be wrong of course because I'm only one person and there are still many mysteries we don't know.

funny enough, I tried her for 6 tries and after 6, I won because of "Defender's Crest". It works when you die so when I die charm effect actually killed her and make me look for her dialogue at internet. It bypassed dialogue... (dont ask me why I equipped crest, for sentinal hornet. I dont even know)

I've replayed Hornet 2 yesterday, and for me, what worked was Quick Slash, Long Nail, Thorns of Agony, Stalwart Shell and (if I'm not mistaken) Soul Catcher. She's fast and tricky, but each time I got hit, I hit her back for about 10-12 hits. That's enough for her to stagger, and might help you tp heal 2 or 3 masks. Also I had Nail 4, which helps a lot. Gather some Pale Ores for your nail, 2 or 3 already makes it so much stronger. If you have Monarch Wings, there's one atop Crystal Peak, another at Ancient Basin, another for 300 Dream Essence at rhe Seer, and another as a trophy for the first Trial. If you haven't, that helps a LOT.

Fortunately I remembered to claim the reward I had left hours before because I felt like it probably wouldn't be as useful. I thought it would be a journal or something about money. Turns out it's a pale ore. That single ONE pale ore meant for me -sword upgrade -defeated worm mother boss -deepnest found (map later on) -fog canyon map found -one crub left to find (probably) -queen's gardens plus map found -teachers archives jellyfish boss defeated for the story -second stage colosseum done -reached a lot of time in stage 3 of the colosseum but died to soul warriors -another sword upgrade -got unbreakable strength -got easily unbreakable greed -love key found -collector boss defeated -Nosk finally defeated last life last hit -a few spirit bosses defeated -dream portal reward for 900(?) essence -dream nailed everyone in the spirits glade -got train ticket -unlocked all stag stations -defeated the three respect mantis people -defeated the whole distant village thing -unlocked stuff in the hunters journal and the god place I don't like visiting -saved zote just for him to end up in the coliseum Literally all of that 2-3 days of game because of a single pale ore that essence grandma gave me I am now considering which is easier hornetV2 or the five ball knights. Besides, I wouldn’t be surprised if you could get all those infected enemies without infecting the crossroads just by finding them elsewhere (infected vengeflies exist in the colosseum, for example)
It's an achievement on Playstation at least, so you need to complete it for the trophy. But no it does not count towards %completion (neither does collecting entries to the hunter's journal)
