Anybody want to buy Gibson for 800 quid LOL - listen I’m sorry about this stupid situation, I do think it’s genuinely going to get worse. I am very mildly honoured to have been deep faked but still it’s a stupidly annoying situation and unfortunately some people have fallen for it already.

Because of your huge history. You are limited to "going forward, all REAL promotionals MUST contain...(xyz)". because of the limitations now using basically B roll of all your history, but a convincing AI gen voiceover.... you'll have to use a combo of invasive, physical things...Like a "this is a promo" cup, item, or guitar that is the visual indicator that this is real. Something that is NEVER in the daily content and ONLY promos, AND CENTER STAGE, so they cant cut it out. maybe even a backdrop/sign/or something center stage thats the physical "THIS IS A REAL PROMO FOR....".
With tech these days I would say you could even do like a digital sign or whiteboard that states what the promo is for thats updateable (so scammers cant take real promo b roll and apply it elsewhere).
Some people fighting TikTok and facebook video flippers use t shirts. Most scammers dont know the language they're stealing from or understand anything other than entering translation text into the AI gen. They most certainly dont put the effort into reading shirts (using custom fonts and design helps wonders).
AI nowadays can generate any video of any theme of anyone saying anything, and yes - it will just get more crazy. :( AI is just out of control. And this is an issue world wide for everyone , worrying sign for everyone. In my country recently we had a scandal where someone deep faked / AI generated video about some bussiness to put them out of customers ...
@@fhruser3847 Because its Generation with translations and audio sources... you have to combat it with real content where both visual and unique things (like t shirts or signage) matches the audio exactly. Something that cant be found in older videos.
Most scammers don't go through the trouble of reading things in the video...thats why it is mostly audio based scams and edits on loosely related video.

What strikes me is that this really is just the beginning, I can only imagine in six months time. Even I wouldn’t notice the difference.
I think the good news is that this eventually gets so common and so convincing that it finally convinces people to become skeptics and learn how to evaluate things rather than taking everything at face value.

Unfortunately, half our population thinks that questioning what you see and what you hear, particularly from individuals who they see as "in positions of authority" makes you a conspiracy theorist. Going to be a pretty rough time for them.
Or you can't believe anything at all on the internet, so you go back to buying real things from real people, in person.

Exactly - The AI always puts weird phonetics or pauses where an actual English speaker wouldn't, unless they were having a stroke.
You press the button, and it bellows "GRRRRRRRRREETINGS!" at you.

Only an idiot scammer could mess up the word “below” in their scam. Lol. It’s so funny the bad English in some of the email and text scams I get occasionally. You would think they would have someone proofread for them.
UA-cam is a big part of the problem, I always report deepfake adds and videos and always gets the same answer ”This …. do not violate our rules”

Same here. I have reported ads from deep faked Elon Musk promoting some clear scams, only to get an answer saying that it doesn’t violate UA-cam’s rules. WTF?? They either don’t review them or don’t care. It’s freaking annoying

@milkandmeat It's believable up until the "they got pissed bit. I fully believe a bot sent him a message and maybe he even responded to said bot asking for proof. But the bot didn't then get pissed, that makes 0 sense.
The same thing happened to me, but the guitar they sent was an Epiphone and the phone was only an iPhone 11. I was totally ripped off. 😂

I anticipated this quite sometime ago. What will happen - my prediction - is that fake stuff will create distrust and people will not buy the real stuff secondhand - because there will be no way to trust it. It might even reach - new versions. This could destroy markets.

The measures you suggest are all very valid. I would report it to whatever platform the deep fakes are appearing on too, UA-cam, Instagram, whatever. They should take the videos down pretty quickly I would hope.

About 4 years ago, I visited Anderson’s; Rob, Rabea and Lee were filming and they were gracious enough to take a photo with me and Lee even took the time to talk over my Swiss Army knife guitar paradox (which I still have to this day).

When it said "The link bellow..." it became pretty obvious. Something seemed weird about the cadence before but the longer it went, the more obvious it was.
The most disturbing issue is that platforms like Instagram allows these ads and when they get reported state that it’s within their policies to allow them.
I hadn't even noticed the "button bellow" instead of "below".

All advertisements should be verified by the social media outlets. But they wont, they just take the money and let any ad be played.....

AI is definitely a problem. I would only suggest that if you were to have any give-away or promotional items, have them go through your company website. If it isn't going from there (or Anderton's official website) then it is fake and be sure to make that clear when doing such so people know. Unfortunately there will be people fall for such and that is what such scammers want, so it is only do your due-diligence to try to inform people of such things like this video. Great guitar learning by the way from your channel as my playing has improved a lot from your insights. Thumbs up to you.

You could always try Making it known that all prize give always etc will only come from your official website/Anderson’s website , the winner will be announced on there and you will never charge anything for the prize for delivery etc.
They will move somewhere else if there is no profit.

I had my Instagram faked one time. I literally let it go for a few days because i was honored they thought i was important enough to fake before I reported them. My friends and I were keeping tabs on it. Great fun. As long as you make sure no one gets hurt, it can be a fun game.

Hi Mate, thanks for bringing this, it will be a problem for all content creators, and probably the only way to fix this will be by having some sort of centralised site with all your news / offers, content, that you can control and verify, and for any real offer you have, having some sort of double verification like the two step login for people for sign in. there were my two cents... now... did I won the gibson for 800 quid? LOL

Report each violation as a trademark infingement as best one can. And for anyone that does come across any type of scam. Please report it through whatever means possible.
This is a massive problem and the platforms are complicant in not detecting and stopping these scammers.
It’s sad where we are with the scams. I don’t even answer my phone anymore because they might be recording my voice. How are feeling after the accident? Hopefully no lingering effects.

I think if there was a platform for managing giveaways from verified artists then that can be used by users to verify whether giveaways are authentic. There can be plugins for browsers which can give feedback on whether a particular giveaway/competition online is authentic or not based on the latest data from the platform. I don't know...that seems like a way to authenticate giveaways.
The Marshall BT speaker thing was dodgy. I still clicked through but Virgin had obviously already added one of the sites to their blocked list as I got the "cannot provide a secure connection" message on Chrome. This is typical when an ISP (which is acting as a proxy) sends back an SSL "denied" message back to the browser - do not attempt to circumnavigate!

You are correct that the more content you can give the model to train with the better it becomes. That's why public figures are more at risk for deep fakes.
I think all YT-content creators should have some common campaign, with a central message about Too Good To Be True ("All they after is YOU") .
It won't be long before everything is fake. It's sad to see this happening. On a good note, My REAL original ML1RS is still played every day while the LP and Strat are almost pricey wall art.

‘There’s no such thing as an £800 Gibson Les Paul ‘. That’s not true. You can get an end of season deal for less especially if you are sans VAT in UK. In 2018 I paid £655 for a brand new USA Gibson Les Paul gold top Tribute. Still have it. Needed £80 for a full set up, fret ends and work on the nut although after this it is boss. You need to shop around, play the big guys against each other and be aware of overstock as new year models arrive. Bargains can be had from major retailers.
You wants to use physical items that are never in older videos.
Some anti-scammer techniques involve using t shirts (with custom design and fonts), something center stage like a digital sign. It must ONLY be in promo's. Then announce all promos going forward will contain XYZ. The xyz should also state exactly waht the promo is for so they cant rip and reapply for another fake promo.
most scammers dont understand our language past translation (that they can rip from audio) and text entry they just throw through the AI. Thats why shirts work so well.

I’ve spent some time working with AI and Deep Fake tech in an ethical context.
Unfortunately there’s not much that can be done other than trying to educate people.
If you chose some kind of code word, it would take zero effort for them to include that.
In my opinion, educating people that this is happening and people reporting scams when they see them is the best system we have for now.
Hopefully in future there will be better protections implemented against this kind of thing.
