Nice video there 👍. I have a Skywatcher 72ED and the backlash is less than 10 on mine as it's not a rack and pinion type. I may need to set backlash live on an actual star and look at the focus numbers. I hope it all works when I'm next out imaging 🤞🤞. All the best and keep the splendid videos coming 😊
Grats on getting setup with autofocus... it's one of those game changers. Now you'll be able to leave your rig out back while you sleep.. confident that your images will remain in focus :)
Thank you for sharing Ben! I got the ZWO ASIAIR plus last November with the 120 mini camera and 30mm guide scope and the ZWO EAF Focuser (which was very easy to fit on my Explore Scientific 127mm telescope, just had to use longer screw’s). I have managed to use the EAF Focuser on two occasions due to the British weather . I’m very impressed with the ZWO ASIAIR plus so far easy to use plus the Focuser is excellent, nice sharp stars.
Hey Tam The EAF should make thing that bit smoother. Im expecting a month of cloud though, now I have splashed out on a few new toys haha! Always happens.....I dont think the Astro Gods like me much! I have just eyed up a 32mm guide scope which comes with the 120mm mini funny enough. How you finding that little cam? I will be getting it next month if the wallet agrees. As for the ASIair, I also got mine November but not got round to setting it away. Wanted to do some more on NINA and try to iron out the glitches I have been having before switching over. Many Thanks!
Hey Ben! - Super video matey, really nicely paced and in-depth! :-) I really rate the ZWO EAF highly, so happy with it that between me and Chloe we own three of em'! 😀 I have to ask, what was the background music for this one? loved it! Clear skies bud 😀
Chers Luke! Sounds like you collecting them haha! The music grabbed my ear too hence I used it. Im sure you have Epademic Sound, I recognise some of the tunes in your videos. www.epidemicsound.com/track/8G6AklryY4/ Clear Skies buddy to you and Chloe!
Thanks Avanteesh. Thought I would give a "how to" video a go this time. Glad you liked it! Clear Skies Buddy and all the best getting the focuser sorted with your Newtonian.
Are you using the ZWO 533MC Pro with this scope? If so...how are you images turning out? Are they undersampling? Reason I ask is...I have just purchased the WO ZS 61 and was intending to use my ZWO 533 but found there was a bit of undersampling going on of the exposure image....Have not had a chance to use it yet but I am curious....thanks in advance....oh and great video!! Also if I may...what mount are you using? Im using a EQ6 Pro and I cannot get the focusing housing past the locking bolts so I have had to turn the scope upsidedown so the focusing housing is on the opposite side? Thanks in advance.
Hi Appologies for the delay in answering. Yes it is the 533, there is slight undersapling but I seem to get away with it. I have also used it with me Red Cat 51 alot which is suposed to be even worse but I got some nice images with it to be honest. The camera was intended to be used with an esprit 120 that I didn't end up getting so just kept using it on my small scopes. I also have the EQ6 r Pro and I also had that problem. I had to rotate the scope a little and it only just fit but I have the Mk 1 zs61 so may be the reason why it fits. Thank you for watching.
The shafts have a flat on them you need to make sure each one of the two grubscrews on each side of the couple...one on each side needs to go onto the flat of the shaft the other then clamps to the round part of the shaft otherwise the couple will get loose
@@CosmuzzAstro I have a GT-71 I just bought with the same EAF. When I was getting it all going I found the guy did not install the EAF properly and there was a slot of backlash in it. Its fixed now of course. I am just starting and havent even taken a picture yet I am just trying to learn as much as I can about it and have watched a lot of your videos. Thankyou for making this content as it certainly helps to learn all this
Hi Cosmuzz, glad to see your getting auto focus nailed, for me it changed my images for the better and kept me warmer as well 😜 One thing I noticed in Nina you had the AF curve fit as just trend lines. If that’s doesn’t work out, I’d recommend trying hyperbolic (with or without trend lines) Looking forward to seeing what your next images look like.
Cheers for the heads up mate. It's all exiting stuff when you add more to the set up. Im just glad to get rid of the pain in the butt routine I have been going through just to focus. Guiding is not far round the corner for me either, hopefully next month if the wallet agrees. Take it easy man and stay warm haha! Clear Skies!

Great tutorial on the ZWO EAF Ben!
Cheers Joe!
Going to try and be more useful and do (How To) videos a bit more this year I think.
Clear Skies Mate!
Great explanation. I just got my EAF and will follow this video fir installation. Subscribed 😊.
Glad the video has helped you.
Thank you very much!

The 120 mini a joy to use for guiding, money well spent.
Cheers Tam
I have been looking at that funny enough. Oh by the way this comment only just popped in so not sure what happened there.
Nice walkthrough Ben!!
Thanks Buddy!!!
thanks for this helpful video!

Great video. Is that a PrimaLuce Vixen style dovetail plate?
Thank you.
Apologies for the delayed reply. The answer is Yes it is.
Awesome Tutorial Ben! I want To Get an EAF for My Newtonian as well!
Thanks Avanteesh.

Clear Skies Buddy and all the best getting the focuser sorted with your Newtonian.
Mechanical installation was well done. Couldnt make out much on your screen for the software part.

Thanks for pointing that out Mark. I missed mentioning that for some reason. Never mind, at least you caught it.
Many thanks for commenting mate.
