Great work Mark. A real woodworker knows how to use a planer 👍. Seeing the Nose gradually taking shape under your hands is the greatest reward.
Thank you very much, really appreciate the compliment 😀
I suppose I need to question my own sanity. I actually sat here for 20 minutes watching some dude plane and sand a box made out of balsa, and I enjoyed every minute of it.
Good stuff. Thanks for posting it. I learnt a lot.
Thank you verry much, pleasd you enjoyed the video
Great video, so much info to help us budding first time "off plan" builders. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful, really appreciate the comment. Have you seen the three videos I have done looking specifically at building from plans, you may find them useful, as well as the video on printing plans. All are in my playlist, thanks again.
@@MarkRobinson555 Again thanks Mark. I have watched most of your videos, from workshop setup, tools, plans (printing and interpreting) and at least the last five builds. I know I might offend, but I tend to fly electric (sorry to swear) and would love to see an electric build or conversion. I obtained a Slec Fun Fly (I/C) without engine and have converted it to electric (not yet flow) but would love to see how an expert tackles the job. Cheers again and soft landings. PS: I have past on the UA-cam details to other club members who like me are novice modelers.
@@BrianChandler-pk5gf Hi Brian, thanks for the comment, pleased to hear you have been watching the videos and find them useful, thank for passing on the details, really good to hear. You are right I am not a huge fan of electric, just love the smell, sound and sense of history around IC engines, although having said that I do have and fly some electric. Thanks again 😀
Making shaping templates is a good idea. I need to start doing that, thanks Mark
Thank you Steve, appreciated the comment 😀
Great job , it reminds me of my early sig cougar , time to monokote . Ja .
Thank you, appreciated 😀
Hi Mark. Great video as usual and very informative. My wife has said to me many times. Don't you get fed up with all that sanding and shaping for hours. But if you want a model that looks right and is right then you have to spend the time to achieve that finish. The woodwork is my favourite part of model building. Thanks Mark.
Hi Terry, thanks for the comment, I totally agree with you, the woodwork is definitely the best, just love it, balsa so nice and forgiving to work with. I really enjoy the sanding and profiling, getting that finish just right. Have a great day 😀
Brilliant, just brilliant technique. Working with wood and shaping it is so instinctively satisfying! Thank you! Fotios, Greece
Thanks very much for the comment, yes working with balsa is so rewarding, just love it 😀
Nice clean work as always Mark...you cant beat shaping & sanding a balsa model.😊
Absolutely, its a very rewarding process, thanks very much for the comment, really appreciated 😊
Hi Mark. This episode is just brilliant! I’ve always had trouble shaping the nose. The template idea makes it easy. Question, to get the templates, did you trace them out from the plans before putting them on cardboard? Thanks. Love your videos
Hi, thank you very much for such a kind comment, it is greatly appreciated. Yes, I used tracing paper to copy the plans then transferd that to card. Really pleased the video helped.
Great job 👍 I have a question, is this engine too big for this model? Our old modelers laugh that now the models fly not on wings but on engines 😜
Thank you for the comment, it's appreciated. A 60 size engine is what is stated on the original plans for this plane, which were drawn up in 1974. I have flown this model before with an Irvine 61 and its a great match.
Nice job - did you weigh the shavings to see how much came off?
Hahahah, no, but now you mention it I wish I had! Thanks for the comment, it's appreciated 😀
