This soulless sucker that just happened to be born in a body with quite a bit of stamina be it without legs, just goes to show you how unfair 'justice' is. OF COURSE South Africa could not TRULY convict one of their national heroes, even though it was one only known for developing some speed, to spend an exceedingly long period of time in jail - like life, or whatever comes closest to life under their own laws' maximum (and appropriate) sentencing. After all, S.A. does not HAVE a lot of super stars that are renowned the whole world over...
I normally an not such a vindictive person, and usually always tend to first of all try to understand what's behind things like this what went on in a perpetrator's mind, what the psychology and circumstances were, what lead to faithful decisions (or rather, acts). But in this case, this dude with his enormous ego, his feelings of pity that merely involve himself (how je cries for himself in court, in front of the judge), his uncaring coldness, the ugliness of the way he fought with the girl who later became his victim, ... it nearly makes my blood boil.

his story is not farfetched at all, burglars surprising you in your bedroom happens quite often actually, them running into the bathroom is not unheard of either. Literally the only reason I didn't believe it is the story that she was two timing him with a rugby player, that was the word on the street and he found out and shot her. @MS E I remember watching the trial and observing him (his reactions to what others shared and how he spoke of her and his own actions). The one thought that refused to leave my head was, ”this has the same components as domestic abuse that ended up being deadly”. Tragically death is eventually where many domestic abuse relationships will end up with sooner or later. The abuser ”needs” to get a rise out of what he/they’re doing, and what used to give them relief is not going to give them that anymore so they have to increase the violence, this being cranked up more and more will eventually often times lead to the woman either espacing or being killed.
I can’t stand it when some people say ”he found the right partner because now he doesn’t abuse anymore”. As if a woman is at fault for being abused, and a man is simply the victim under her thumb even though he is the one abusing. Make that nonsense make sense! It’s such a tragic subject and how many react to it is part in keeping the issue being unresolved in society. Blaming women are not the solution!

The biggest overlooked evidence was from the autopsy of Reeva's stomach which had undigested food. And the text message she had recieved from her ex boyfriend shortly before her death on Valentine's day. It's obvious Oscar and Reeva were up all night having an intense arguement over the text message, Reeva threatened to leave him and she got scared and ran to the bathroom locking the door and he killed her in a jealous rage.
Oscar lost his mom at a young age and his father abandoned him, so he has an intense fear of abandonment. Reeva's ex boyfriend is also a professional sportsman except he is ablebodied .. and for Oscar being disabled, one could imagine this is a deep insecurity for him, her ex is a threat to him and the text message from the ex on valentine's day was the match which lit the fire.
Oscar couldn't handle that her attention might be elsewhere, someone from her past, eventhough it may have not been the case he couldn't separate real from imagined, his whole life he had been abandoned and was different to others, but now he thought the woman of his dreams was going to leave him, and worse for another sportsman who has normal legs. He probably felt deeply hurt, and maybe angry with her, that she was texting her ex on Valentine's day which was meant to be their special day, he felt threatened, he felt insecure about his disability, he felt a creeping feeling she was going to leave him, just like his parents left him. But not this time, he decided to take control of the situation, if he can't have her then no one else will, and the woman in his life won't leave him this time, he will just hold her lifeless body in his arms, crying as he feels a victim of the imagined intruder (from the text) who had entered their fairytale life and dug up all the deep and dark childhood insecurities.

The fact that the bathroom door was locked, leads me to believe that maybe they weren’t sleeping. And maybe they were up arguing about some thing and she went into the bathroom and locked herself in there to get away from him. Because if you think about it, nobody locks themselves in the bathroom when you wake up in the middle of the night to go pee. I mean, in all honesty, most of us don’t even shut the door when we’re going to the bathroom in the middle of the night. So I don’t know, I just feel like there’s more to the story. And his recollection of what happened, doesn’t quite add up for me. I just always try to put myself in the victims shoes, and try to see myself doing the same things they were doing. And I just never would lock myself in a bathroom unless there was somebody on the other side that I did not want getting in, especially if I was in the privacy of my own home, or my boyfriends home. Not to mention, if he truly called out to Reeva to call 911, before he shot, don’t you think he would’ve heard her answer from the bathroom?

Even if they were in a heated argument that wouldn't be 1st degree premeditated. It would be 2nd degree. I don't understand why people who are afraid of home invasions don't just get dogs. A dog is far better than a gun. A dog will be alerted by the slightest noise from an intruder.
I don't think there is evidence proving he intentionally shot her. I just think that his story is not believable. Why would someone shoot through a closed door at an intruder? Why wouldn't Reeva answer saying, "It's me!" Or the moment he left his bed, how did he not notice she wasn't in the bed? But I didn't follow the case closely. I would have found him guilty not based on the proof or witnesses but based on the how incredible his claims where.

I’m an American and have been around and been using firearms regularly for almost 30 years straight. I’ve been constantly training myself to try and understand the best tactics of how to use firearms from everything from self defense, offensive and counter attack maneuvers, hunting, and even building, tear down and cleaning, and modifying (legally). I’ve been in a shooting before at a mall even. My point is that I’m always prepared for a home invasion and there’s no possible way that I would ever do what he did. Even if I knew far less than I did, I would still not do it. If I genuinely thought an intruder was in my home then I’d keep the firearm pointed at the door while calling police and simultaneously checking on the welfare of my wife. My goal is to not use my pistol or my shotgun. It’s the last thing I want to do as it causes a ton of potential issues. The only way I’m firing is if I have no choice as I’m protecting myself and my family. I’m also only firing if I know what I’m firing at. There’s no way I’d be blindly firing through a door, particularly if I didn’t know exactly where my wife was and exactly who and what was behind the door. If I thought an intruder was in my home, the door was closed and I had a gun and I didn’t know where my wife was then I’d have the police on speaker informing them then I’d break the door down after shouting numerous times just so I could find my wife and be prepared for the intruder. But I’d never even assume an intruder if my wife wasn’t answering behind the bathroom as I’d assume a medical emergency.

I don’t discount the fear that can be associated with disabilities. I know a paraplegic who has expressed similar concerns and is often armed with a gun. But, the known facts of this case make his story implausible. When ppl cover their faces when “crying”, I often think they are not really crying. I think he hunted this girl in his home and expected to get away with it.

Didn't he check to see that she was safe beside him when he heard an "intruder"? When he called out for her to call the police, didn't he hear a response from her? If not, how could he take a chance to fire into the bathroom, when he did not know where she was? Didn't he know that she might get up to go to the bathroom at night? Too many things make no sense. I bet she went into the bathroom for protection from him, and then he shot her through the door.
