Excellent Video! You are my go-to guy when it comes to everything NAS. Could you please make a dedicated video on best security settings to follow in trunas scale? Basically how to lock it down or prevent it being hacked or preventing unwanted access? It would really help a lot of us using this os.
For anyone wondering (DXP4800 Plus): Yes, you have to tear the warranty sticker when changing the OS SSD. Why the outer case won't come off when changing the OS SSD - it's because of the damn spring in the RAM section. (there are a total of 16 screws that need removing)
Hi!, is there any way i can encrypt the data in the hard drives. in case the hard disk is removed all data is readable. that's the only reason i am trying to switch to different Nas OS.
Now I want to go back to UGOS, but I’m not sure how to undo step "4.2 Modifying UGOS and BIOS". Does anyone have any idea or experience with the file system? What are the steps to undo /mnt/nvme_efi etc.
great video, I have install unraid to my DXP480T Plus and the Unraid is not able to recognize and display my thunderbolt 3 ssd case. is is any method to solve this problem? thank you.
I got in on the kickstarter. In theory, you should be able to, I think it was supposed to launch by now. But I checked a few weeks ago and they were showing as "out of stock". There's a few running around on ebay and FB maketplace, but use at your own risk.
Nope, and they promised they would be listed across additional Amazon sites other than US & Germany during June. Looks like they were way too confident since they are still shipping to some kickstarter backers.
Why not just boot a live Linux system and create an image copy with dd from the internal SSD before overwriting it? This way you should be easily able to roll back whenever you like, right? You could even start that vanilla uGreen OS from an external USB drive whenever you want.
At the moment you cannot. They seemed to use their stock when sending it to all the reviewers. They had a Kickstarter campaign for USA and Germany, but at the moment everyone is waiting in anticipation.
I bought mine from China and freight forwarded to me. Unless you can read Chinese and has a mean to get it shipped to you, your only option is to wait for other shopping options.
ok why buy one of those COTS NAS device and then put a different OS on it, the main part of the cost on those is the software. A DIY NAS would be cheaper and have higher performance.
Because the price for the Hardware is amazing for the early bird Kickstarter price. It's cheaper and better than the System I build half a year earlier myself. Will migrate my unraid soon to the dxp 4800 plus.
The hardware on the ugreen ist really competitive in terms of price at the early bird price, and also looks really slick. I like the SD card slot and USB c on the front so I can keep it on my desk for my photography stuff
Great, now they have to *become* available to purchase

Soon ... switching my previous setup (jonsbo n3 with unraid) for this all-flash baby! Just thinking about installing Nas OS on top of proxmox :)
Are you please able to make a video on how to enable the ugreen nas led in truenas
Thanks for the video. Are the Ugreen NASs available for the UK yet?
If i have to buy a new ssd i have to factor that into the cost and the value proposition.
I get booted into Grub rescue mode? idk what to do

Damn, we're early today on this one.
When the turkey (turkey solution nas) is still raw , no worries just cook it ourself😂
One point of clarification - I believe DXP2800 does NOT have to OS on an m.2 ssd but rather it is on a 32GB eMMC.
Very true. Thank you for the correction and apologies for the oversight
This also implies that you can't install TrueNAS on the eMMC, unfortunately. Openmediavault seems to work just fine.
I hate seagulls! 😂
Nice and useful video, I never booted the UGreen SSD before replacing it, just in case.
trying to get truenas scale installed but i get the grub rescue mode and cant fine anything on it

Can we even buy a ugreen nas right now?
Yeah not that I can see. I’m not buying from a site in Chinese only.

There is a new big UGOS update with lots of fixes.
If I replace the OS SSD and boot/install from the USB first will I always have to boot from the USB or can I remove it from there forward?
For UnRaid installation.
just wish i could actually buy one of these
Few people on the Facebook group are selling theirs at cost.
@@eliminat which group?
@@tv-rx7ti the one ugreen made for the kickstarter
Love the channel but your studio needs a makeover
Where can You buy ugreen nas?

Got this for $400 with kickstarter and Unraid before the price change. Complete win for me since the original OS is still lacking in features.
Good luck building a cheaper and faster DIY 6 bay NAS with hot swap bays. I bought the 6 bay, you can't beat the price.
@@john_in_phoenixI got the 6-bay pro early kickstarter as well. Planning to do a proxmox with truenas. The hardware cost was what got me
