It was always a pleasure to play at St. Paul FBH with Joe Wilson, Melvin Smith, Keith Marshall, Kyama, Jeff Davis and a host of others. St Paul was almost like a proving ground. You either proved you could or you COULDNT! I came up a lot learning a huge amount from Joe "Flip" Wilson and Jeff Davis. After their lessons I then went on to accompany some pretty BIG names in music history. AL SMITH also taught me about amps and cabinets and I learned a lot form him on BASS. Great guys Great players!!
Hey I remember when we recorded this with Rachel as lead vocalist... wow so many memories racing through my mind. I wished they would have showed us on this video clip... Allen, Keith, Jeff, Glen directing before he passed away. Tammy and her hubby God I can't think of his name. Oh Frank... Natalie and Joe wow looking at this is so remarkable. One Love Dottie Coleman Pincus
wow this takes me back to my roots...Go Rachel.... I can't believe they are not showing us...God Joe, Keith, Glenn Simmons director before he passed...Hey there's Kiyamma Griffin, Allen, Yes... I will rest...wow
I was at the service...I was already a HUGE Jeff Davis and Flip Wilson fan, but I didn't know Kyama. He beasted that Hammond crazy! I'd be curious to find out what he's doing now. And that "Yes to That Home" project is still on cassette in my truck in remains in the deck. With all the CDs and MP3s I have, that tape STILL gets play like once a week.
This is shedding material to the fullest!!! The whole band is jammin' and the song is beautiful! S/O to Flip though, that guys one of my favorite musicians after this one!
Jeff's a great percussionist, ...and doesn't mind just staying in the pocket. Provides just what Flip and everybody needs in order to do their thing. Great music!
This is from the This Joy I Have project of St. Paul FBH church in like '90 or '91. This is their reunion concert in like 2001 or so... That is Kiyama on the organ. I have the cassette of the project. I don't know that is was ever on CD.
Play Joe...half of this must be recorded in piano because he took his keys of the keyboard three times and the music kept going. Smith boys are doing their thing on the bass and electric guitars
Precious memories! I remember those days. RIP, Mr. Jeff Davis.
