Just purchased the 2016 X3 Xdrive 35i and wow, M pkg. with enhanced pkg. and adaptive suspension, amazing vehicle. Blows the japanese competition away in the compact SUV segment, very quick, great suspension, plenty of room (much better than anyother compact SUV) and great looks. Drivetrain in this vehicle is great and the tech is top notch. Worth every dollar.
alex, any 2019 bmw x4 m40i review coming up? i'd love to hear your take on it. i really like the way you do your reviews even after just watching the first 2 videos..
Nice review like always. I'm opting for a used BMW x4 x35i with Msport package and 20" wheels. Does it ride really firm even with the adaptive Msport suspension ?
Any idea on when you'll get to test out that adaptive suspension in one of the BMW X models? I've always wondered if the "comfort" setting with the adaptive suspension on a BMW X model was more like a very, VERY firm Lexus or treading right into soft-sprung Lexus territory (I had hoped at least). I read and heard almost everywhere, when you buy a BMW, a firm suspension is the deal with the devil you make when you buy these "driving machines" or so they say.
mountainhobo If you don't know coupe has a shape where front is lower in front than the back as sedan is leveled, it's not the doors but the body style that's coupe,so you have a 2 door look with 4 doors, just take a look at cars and compare and you"ll see..
kedar140 No. "A coupé (US coupe) (from the French past participle coupé, of the infinitive couper, to cut) is a closed two-door car body style with a permanently attached fixed roof".
mountainhobo I can't believe it, but apparently there is an ISO standard for Coupé. "ISO 3833-1977 defines a coupé as having a closed body, usually with limited rear volume, a fixed roof of which a portion may be openable, at least two seats in at least one row, two side doors and possibly a rear opening, and at least two side windows" Oddly enough Germany signed it but the USA didn't.
58 thousand dollars? In money? That's about the same price as a Hellcat Charger. I think I know which one I'd pick. I'd like to benchmark this against my own car...see how it stacks up. 1996 Buick Roadmaster Wagon. 17/27mpg. Comfortably seats EIGHT adults (2 in the barf seats which are totally usable. Tows 7000lbs. Maroon leather heated everywhere. Holds 4x8 sheets of plywood. Noise and ride 10 out of 10. Handling sucks, but how often do you track your daily? Glass roof no extra charge. Vinyl wood on sides. LT1 V8 will roast the tires all day long. Low 15s in the 1/4 mile. 15" tires ride better and cost half as much as the BMW. Price? I paid $1400 three years ago.
Zuriel Briones That's my point. The X4 is an answer to a question nobody asked. It's a car that doesn't do anything better than any other car. Compared to the Charger, it has less space, is less comfortable, but is more expensive. It appears to do nothing well.
***** less space and less comfort?? This is a crossover. Those are the 2 things they're meant for. Comfort can be subjective but I don't know where you got the idea of a hellcat having more space than this
I think I could do some family hauling in the Charger hellcat. A good bit more room than X4 too. Hellcat vs X4 is a stupid comparison, that's my point.
I like the x4 because its like a x6 but smaller and the x3 just looks like in the front it looks like an suv but the back looks like a sition wagon. I have an x3 right now and its 2013 and i hate the way it looks from the back it looks like a wagon and i can't wait till the lease is up so i can get a x4. guys its a smaller x6 and any one that wants a suv in the 45,000 dollar range should consider the x4 over the x3 and guys there both the same price so Consider the x4..........
Not a very popular vehicle for BMW, selling only 500 units a month Same goes for the X6, and X3 sales are down over 40% in 2015 The new Lexus NX is taking sales from somewhere and it looks like it's BMW
so the 3.0.L doesn't require 91 octane? is that true for this engine configuration on other BMWs? i still think this is a very ugly car. It reminds me of the 318ti - the ugliest BMW in the 90s.
jowowetan Well, require is a tricky word. As I show on the fuel economy page, BMW does tell you to use 91 octane. However like almost all engines sold in America it will run safely on 87 octane as well, with reduced power output. I rarely fill a car with 91 and have never had an issue.
jowowetan The world has taken a liking to big butts( kim kardashian)as we know cars are called female names by men for a reason, some men like a car just because of the headlights (eye's) etc.If you don't like big butts I understand,we all have different taste in women, be glad we have option, hahaha
I drove this car (actually without M sport package) and it was a yawner. rear seat is very uncomfortable. Price is giving the buyer no value; should be $8,000 less

Finally you reviewed the ultimate driving machine.
Thank you very much for the tremendous effort you put in your videos.

Me too 🤣
Hi Alex, thanks for the great and detailed review on the BMW X4.
Very comprehensive review. Systematic and informative!
lol at the emergency release
This is a fantastic Review!
Thx Alex....great review as always
alex, any 2019 bmw x4 m40i review coming up? i'd love to hear your take on it. i really like the way you do your reviews even after just watching the first 2 videos..
For your next review, I suggest you review a BMW 535 gt
Nice review like always. I'm opting for a used BMW x4 x35i with Msport package and 20" wheels. Does it ride really firm even with the adaptive Msport suspension ?
Nice review, Alex. You mentioned the BMW 3 Series GT in comparison, have you reviewed one of those already?
CJ VN I have not done a full video on one, but I did spend a day in one late last year
Have u reviewed the Macan yet ?

Thank you!
Greater review i like the car.
Alex, I find it interesting that you put a 2000 BMW X5 on your ruler to compare the length of the X4. Why did you make that choice?
Elliott Manning Because I was surprised to find out that the X4 is actually bigger.
Hi, will u do a review on mercedes GLA?
Alex, what score will you give if it has adaptive suspension?
What do you think is the better vehicle? The V60 Cross Country or this X4?
***** Well, the X4 is more fun and the xDrive28i model is more efficient, but being the cheapskate I am I'd get the Volvo because it is cheaper.
is there a digital speedometer?
What did you say about steelsprings?
$58,000?? they got me fucked up
do u work for the cia?
Nice review but I don't see a point buying this car like suv like crossover....
Am I nuts, or does this thing look like a Focus sedan from the belt line up?
You say 7 for trunk but wrote 8.
look at all the glorious plastic
So why would anyone pick this over the X3?
mountainhobo the same reason people pick coupe vs. sedan
kedar140 But it's not a coupe. It has 5 doors.

Uhhh............comparing a performance coupe against a luxury crossover vehicle. You're adventurous!

And if it wasn't obvious. This isn't a performance vehicle. If you have a family goodluck hauling them around in a hellcat
I think I could do some family hauling in the Charger hellcat. A good bit more room than X4 too. Hellcat vs X4 is a stupid comparison, that's my point.
You should be comparing the BMW X4 with the BMW X6 and not with BMW X3
I like the x4 because its like a x6 but smaller and the x3 just looks like in the front it looks like an suv but the back looks like a sition wagon. coo-pay

The dumbest comment I've read yet 🤡

Too many models overlapping...too many ugly!
