Huntington Beach in the 80's will always be "Frozen in Time" in the minds and hearts of all of us that lived there and experienced that magical time. Long live HB!
When my son was young, we used to go here 3-4 times a year... just a fantastic beach !! Now that I'm retired and don't get in the water anymore, we prefer something a little more sedate and cooler.. Morro Bay is a favorite... thanks Chris !!!
This is what I imagined a California beach would look like... I only know California from Movies when I was a little boy, and THIS is what all(!) beaches looked like... always with a tall surfer with long hair called Chuck. Oh, I love cliche's ! ...and again, a perfectly executed video production by 'Yellow Chuck'.
My son and his friends lived in Surf City while attending Long Beach State. They lived a mile from the pier. I was a frequent visitor! A great restaurant on Main Street is Sushi on Fire. Great food and reasonable prices! Nice video!
HB usually gets a D on the beach report annually and can high levels of bacteria. I think it is 150,000 gallons of "treated" sewage gets released 6 miles offshore by the HB pier every day. HB has title "Surf City" but the surfing museum is in Oceanside. Lived in HB 4 different times now over the years. Nice work Chris!!
Nice tour, Chris. I love going to Huntington Beach whenever I'm in Southern California. One of my favorite beaches if I'm looking for a more active, lively beach experience, since it has the bicycle path and all the good places to eat, drink, and go shopping.
Excellent work as always, Chris! I think your Vegas videos are my favorite. However, this really brought back some great memories. I dated a girl that lived in Long Beach and she brought me down the 1 to Huntington a few times. My FAVORITE place in HB was Jimboy’s Tacos on 5th, but we were heartbroken to see it was permanently closed the last time we tried going down in September. Beautiful beach, mostly friendly folks. Looks like plenty of excuses for me to go back! PS, I don’t hate LAX, but out of mere convenience, it’s SNA for me all the way, unless you can get the rare reasonably priced flight in/out of Long Beach.
Thanks Michael! Yeah... all the Jimboys tacos in Southern California went under during the pandemic. OK... maybe you don't hate LAX... but even more than convenience, you have to admit SNA is just all around a better experience than LAX :)
I don’t know if they still have them but Tuesday nights on Main St, they used to have a farmers market. It’s something kinda interesting to do when it’s a little cooler in the evenings.
As you know consistent waves have turned Huntington Beach into the surfing capital of the world, where the world surfing championships are held every year. That said, I don’t think I want to surf in the waters where 1,300 lbs mako sharks 🦈 could be caught off its coast, or great white sharks could be spotted 400 feet from the shore! 🤣 Not withstanding, one of the loveliest places in all of OC. Thanks for the great walking tour, Chris.
By the way the Mexican restaurant that you showed is that where you can rent the bicycle that you mention before? 🤔The two that was on the their rooftop hanging there. 😅😂😉Just kidding. But maybe you can rent them. And eat some Mexican food after a long bike ride. Very nice and high quality good video. I always get a smile seeing your videos. You are good at bringing out positivity, and interesting information. 👍🙂
Great presentation, Chris! HB is my favorite beach in the north Orange County/LA County area. I like the southern Orange County and San Diego beaches better. But I liked HB so well, I lived there, twice! Just a couple of my musings about the beach there: -I went to this beach at night in August wearing a short sleeved shirt and shorts. It was cold! I practically froze to death. -Thankfully, HB has fire pits where you can bring your own firewood. -The water can be cold too. If you are used to Caribbean water this water will be very cold to you, around 60 degrees F. (15.5 degrees C.). -Speaking of riding a bicycle on the bike path, police patrol the area on bicycles. They even give out traffic tickets to people riding bicycles who break their city ordinances. -The beach area shown here is the Huntington Beach city beach. There's also a state beach farther to the south about half a mile. It requires a different fee than the city beach. It's also less crowded. -The ladies sometimes wear skimpy swimsuits. I just thought I would put that out there and won't elaborate. ;-) -The map shown in front of the police station makes the pier seem as though it's going straight west out into the ocean. The pier actually goes out in a southwesterly direction. That always messed me up because when I grew up, the Pacific Ocean was always west. When I lived in HB I lived near Beach Blvd and the beach was straight south of there.
We visited Santa Monica Beach a few weeks ago, it was 11am so similar time but cloudy and over cast. Our guide told us it was the June Bloom a regular weather phenomenon in LA but your VLOG it's lovely here Chris so is this weather normal or was our guide mistaken>?
Hey Mark. It was cloudy and overcast earlier in the day. The sun came out just about 15 minutes before I shot this. And yes.. the term here is June Gloom.
You may bring your own propane grill but it must be at least 18" off the ground. Propane grills can be put anywhere on the beach behind the line of Lifeguard Towers
Since May 27th, 2015 oil globs have been found along southern California (concentrated near Ventura, Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, Santa Monica, Malibu, Zuma Beach and Venice Beach). Please warn tourists of oil on Carpinteria beaches....I ended up with an inch thick of black tar stuck to the bottom of both feet. Really hard to get the sticky tar off. I poured olive oil on my feet to remove it, 2 hours later....still not great.
For the life of me, I can't seem to find any information where to find the washrooms/restrooms in huntington Beach. Please tell me if their beach restrooms are clean. Thank you
Yeah... I think the beach restrooms are reasonably clean... I mean... they are public restrooms after all. But they are plentiful... most of them are along the beachfront sidewalk
Probably because I walk too fast. And in a normal conversation other people talk so it gives you a chance to catch your breath. Instead I'm just talking nonstop
Even if it is a lot of people there it seems like it’s a lot of space for everyone to be there and enjoy a beach day without it to be to crowded. 🙂Or maybe it depends on which time on the day you are there. 🤔Are their many tourist visiting now in California? Is this the most busy time there? 🤔🫣🙂

Becomes time to be retired. So many things to do and to see. Thank you for the really nice video. Greetings Carmen und Sven
Thanks Carmen and Sven!
This was really helpful at my LA visit. Was listening to it while walking the pier. And I got the delicious food in the fish taco place 😋
Double thanks Joe!
Loved seeing the Saturday Market there. Always love finding treasures. There was a photographer I had to support buying some prints
My wife wants to move there so bad. I am a fan as well but Laguna is my favorite still.
I like Lagunas vibe better too.. Huntington Beach does have a more central OC location though
@@YellowProductions The sand though has little flakes of pyrite in the sand in Huntington though and it looks like gold. Very neat
Thanks Chris. Really enjoy your walking videos
Thanks Claire!
Great video as usual! HB is one of my favorite destinations especially when staying at Kimpton Shorebreak.
Yeahhhhh! Nice vid
Wow! Beautiful 👁....i sure wish I was there at that Beach👀

Thanks for the tip on Sushi on Fire Jeff
Looks great. We're looking at coming over next year from the UK. Thanks for the look around.
Any time!
I really love Dukes!!
I liked the walkthrough of the Artisan fair also! Good video 😊
Thanks Kris!
While it can be busy it was usually a lot less insane than say Santa Monica and Venice Beach with fewer tourists.
Very true John! Venice is just insane for parking on Summer Holidays
I used to eat at the sugar shack almost every weekend when I lived in HB. The parking garage you showed was the best place to go
Neat!
Love 🏄♂️ Surf 🏄♀️ City USA 🇺🇸 ❤
Awesome tour! We are here now and this video helped give us a lay of the land. Thanks so much.
Thanks Tracy!
one of my favorite!!
Fred’s has the best Taco Tuesday. At least it was before Covid

We love HB, thx for the video. Now we're going back next month lol 👍
Thanks for the detailed tour! I grew up near HB and this was a favorite spot of mine. It’s got such a fun vibe! It’s also very dog-friendly 🐾
Thanks Vanessa!
Dude this is awesome.
What an attractive and fun neighborhood! I'm jealous and wish I could visit or actually live there!
Great video! I love helping people move to our beautiful community!
Pacific City also very nice shopping and restaurants
Definitely Scarlett
Love Pacific City!
Thanks for the tour and video. How is the ocean for swimming? is it rough and has big waves?
Thanks Alex! Yeah. Huntington is generally known for some of the bigger waves in the area.

I like the HB’s (Hermosa & Huntington) thanks for another informative video ( :
Thanks ratquel!
Another great informative video Chris, Is huntington your favorite socal surf spot?
I bodyboard more now than I surf... so my spot for that is Salt Creek Beach in Dana Point
@@YellowProductions Salt Creek is the best! Think it’s the most family friendly beach I’ve seen in So Cal

Thanks for the video! I love Huntington Beach! Did all of the Ruby's close, or just this one?
Most of the Ruby's closed.. there are still a few left
NICE WALK AROUND THANKS

what are the best hotels to stay at in huntington beach
I've heard good things about the Hyatt in Huntington Beach
Can you remember the date of this video I heared the beaches are nit great in june, but all looks sunny there
This was indeed in June. It's often cloudy in the morning but clears up by Lunch time
