We unfortunately teach names and dates and events in our History, Social Studies, and Civics classes, not the core concepts and values contained in the Constitution and the Federalist Papers. Now we're seeing a big push to teach religious doctrine in the classroom, but not even a passing comment from politicians about teaching how to ensure the survival of our democracy. Please go after your local school board as a first action. It is not the school's responsibility to teach religion and morals. But it is the school's responsibility to teach about the foundations of our country.
