Ehsan Joya is one of the prominent dotar players in Afghanistan, who holds a special place among Afghan folk music artists due to his skill and mastery of this traditional instrument. The dotar is one of the original and ancient instruments in Eastern music, which is mostly common in the regions of Herat, Badakhshan, Hazara, Bamyan, Ghor, and Takhthar, parts of Central Asia.
Ehsan Joya has played an important role in preserving and expanding the heritage of traditional Afghan music by performing local folklore pieces and creating original music.
