Tuerck's proximity to the second to last clipping point in comparison to Forsberg's was what gave Chris the win. But let's be honest, we all just wanted to see them go at it again!
i dont see how they got the OMT. i like both drivers and thought it was a good run for both but looked like hohnadell out performed him in the first battle. anyone have any insight on why they did a OMT?
swordsmanGFX ya i agree that battle was probably one of my favorites from this event, but it just looked like hohnadell was way more aggressive in chase run. mainly that first entry tho
Forsberg v Hohnadell and Forsberg v Tuerck were amazing battles. I agree that Aasbo has a very efficient style which doesn't produce very thrilling drifting. He doesn't really mirror the other driver's style and rather just wins out on proximity. Looks like his car could use some more steering angle.
I'm bored of Aasbo's drifting style, no risking, soulless.. technically yes, he's a good drifter, doesn't do mistakes, but that's because he's always so careful, no big angle, wall tapping or such a thing, but he's good at keeping low proximity
Yea I agree. I honestly think its due to the car's limitations. His style with that Scion is so similar to Sam Hubinette and Tanner Foust, consistent but nothing out of ordinary. If he used his 2JZ GT86 on the other hand though...
Martin Atyne no angle aasbo. But personaly i dont like where fd is going. Like where is the style? Forrest wang and alec are the ones that bring the angle to the sport. Now all that fd wants is speed and, no angle. Its just sad.
FD would be so much better without gittin, aasbo and forsberg tbh. would be awesome to see the newer guys getting some wins instead of the usual "guaranteed wins" lol
I agree for years FD and the judges have been so biased towards the big sponsored cars and drivers. It feels like the privateers and rookies are just wasting their time and money going into a series who only favors the big names in the sport. Its not the same anymore and how they set up the current world championship standings are more complicated.
I scrolled down to comment the same thing. I really don't think Aasbo should've won against Coffman, Coffman was a man on a mission and wasn't taken down by the pressure... He was sadly taken down by the judges.
+Ghostevent I wouldn't immediately give Coffman the win either, a OMT should've been a thing. Aasbo was better in the chase position but I thought Coffman had a slightly better line
Odi and Wang are 2 of the best young drivers but they always get put against each other or people like Forsberg and Aasbo that the judges refuse to give a loss to unless they spin or something. Don't get me wrong they're both incredible drivers and I've chilled with Forsberg a few times at my local track but some of their wins are unjustified.
The judges and FD could care less about who won. The judges are there to do their job and decide who moves on based on the runs. That is all. The energy drink sponsors sponsor good drivers, which is why they usually end up on the podium. It's not like slapping their sticker on a shitty driver's car will guarantee that driver a podium. Instead of jumping to theories of how you think energy drink sponsors have a stake in the series, take a look at the judging criteria and see what the judges are asking drivers to do at each round. It isn't always about maximum angle and proximity.
I'm in no means a judge but aasbo vs Coffman aasbo I don't think should have won same with forsberg and tuerck should have at least gone OMT I've always said that the judges in the series are biased towards certain drivers and half the time it's like I'm obviously right
Maybe for weight transfer or something along those lines the Mustang probably weights more than the competition so it might help the car move around better
Even the french announcer said he was known to have less angle and more speed, like wtf if i wanted to see speed i'd go to f1 or nascar not drift lmao..
Feel like Hohnadell should have took the win after the first battle, Forseberg made contact and dropped a wheel on both runs and didnt get as tight to the wall or clipping points with a shallower line and less angle, feeling like a biased decision has thrown it yet again, other than that awesome driving
You're comparing two runs without providing the mistakes on hohnadells lead and follow... With that mindset its obvious to assume biased decision making. Hohnadell made a slight correction on the second inside clipping point which upset the line a little bit on his lead. Chris Forsberg did have slight shallower line but he kept perfect proximity without dropping too much line/angle. On Chris Forsbergs lead you can see that hohnadell kept with chris but not as close as chris was on his follow run on the bank. You can also see Hohnadell dropping the line right off the first bank and after the transition. You can also spot Chris forsberg leaving Hohnadell in the smoke with angle from the 2nd to 3rd inside clippin point. Make sure you actually dissect the runs properly next time.
+Isho GT Talk about bias, all I hear is you defending Forceberg lol. Alex had the better lead in run one, much tighter transition and more angle. his chase wasn't as good as Forcebergs on the bank but he more then made up for it in the later portion of the track. Based on chase I think they were even in the first run but Alex definitely had him on the lead and should have won. Shouldn't have went to OMT
lowrider649 Im not defending Forsberg, im just dissecting the run and using the actual judging criterias to enforce my opinion on it. The fact that you assumed that hohnadell made up for his proximity on the bank at the later portion of the track shows some lack of eyesight since thats clearly not what happened. Watch it again and see how hohnadell gets left behind at the last part of the track between the two inside clipping points. But ye, somehow he made it all up at that part. I will admit, Hohnadell's lead was beautiful, consistent and fluid. The only part were he couldve gotten some points counted against him was when he entered the 2nd to last inside clipping point, you can see him wavering a tiny bit and upsetting the line by a slight margin. The OMT was definitely deserved. Seems to me you're actually just trying to count everything AGAINST forsberg and then assume im biased.
Isho GT I have asked Formula D as part of their bid to make the sport more consistent to supply a weightings chart if the ceiteria. As I'm still at a loss as to what fufils the most important components of a run. While we know the criteria for a run as set out in driver meetings; there has been little effort to display the weightings of each component of a run which is a big problem for me as if a judge makes a tough call on a close run then how do we know the fans that the judges have allocated the right weightings to a mistake that a driver makes in a run? We know straight lining is a zero, two tires of is a zero, but so many times I've heard "that'll be a deduction" for a mistake in the chase or lead that hasn't resulted in a direct zero that I do not know the numeric value in which that mistake effects the score of his lead/chase which has been critical to know at some events. There have been chases from drivers this season that have been strong but ultimately these drivers have lost on rounds because of minor mistakes in the lead. I want to know what is more valuable in a run, the chase or the lead? And If a mistake is made is it more valuable in the chase or lead, and what type of mistake deems a deduction to loos based on the good qualities of a run. I want Formula D to alocate criteria weightings to make that distinction clear in judging when a mistake is made and define in what position chase or lead is that mistake more valuable? I'm not counting against Forsberg but basing my analysis on the constincies in which the judges have applied in rulings previously.
+Isho GT Alec did fall behind on the last clip my mistake. But was that the reason the round went to an OMT? If so then what was that mistake weighted for his dominant lead run to be faded into an OMT? These the details I would like. When Formula drift insider was around I really liked it because it gave depth to a decision but helped to clear up the criteria and the weightings of them. But they stopped that when Formula D realised they had a consistency problem with their judging and people slammed them for it. Because of that they made the sport less transparent to mask problems in the sport rather then trying to make it better. That was upsetting as a fan.
+Alexander Willems but still tho.. The judges and Jared are acting like it is unheard of to initiate like that.. I remember Kawabata @ D1GP got cheered at when he did a reverse entry. Just saying.
Agreed...And at other events: "Wang goes deep into outer zone 1" or "Let's see if Wang can whip it out here". Best part of going to an event is you don't hear as much of the crap commentary over the engines
anybody can google a location now were not in the 90's... i see what you mean concerning the drift course, i lap there every monday but we use the full road course not the shitty little oval crap for people who can only turn left!
this was madness. forsberg vs tuerck should have been OMT
Yup, I agree
Yeah, I agree too
Yeah, but Forsberg was much closer in chase.
Tuerck's proximity to the second to last clipping point in comparison to Forsberg's was what gave Chris the win. But let's be honest, we all just wanted to see them go at it again!
ya fd bias but Chris was also driving insanely well
The Forsberg/Hohnadell run was INTENSE
i dont see how they got the OMT. i like both drivers and thought it was a good run for both but looked like hohnadell out performed him in the first battle. anyone have any insight on why they did a OMT?
chris was closer in corner 1 and hohnadell closer in corner 2.. if i remember well, and they both clipped... this run made my day
swordsmanGFX ya i agree that battle was probably one of my favorites from this event, but it just looked like hohnadell was way more aggressive in chase run. mainly that first entry tho
damn wang was on point, but that battle between Hohnadell and Forsberg was intense af man!
Those judges seemed biased towards aasbo. Even when he made mistakes, didn't hold enough angle, and had to correct, the judges gave it to him. Smfh
William Guglielmo wym Bro, Goodin had a late initiation and he was late coming of the last corner. I saw no mistakes with Aasbo
I feel like Aasbo is a favourite of the judges
Forsberg v Hohnadell and Forsberg v Tuerck were amazing battles. I agree that Aasbo has a very efficient style which doesn't produce very thrilling drifting. He doesn't really mirror the other driver's style and rather just wins out on proximity. Looks like his car could use some more steering angle.
holy shit you guys uploaded this in less than a week??? well done! Give some interns a cookie!
some of the best driving iv seen in a long while, wicked battles and alot better judging , please keep this up fd
Couldn't be less surprised about Aasbo winning.
indeed, podium needs new blood
i feel like if the judged are on drugs
Yeah... That or they are biased
+Nolan wolf definite bias. aasbo shouldn't have won his last title
1203125x i dont give shit about who's winning anymore , all i do is watch some good slides cause of the bad judging
Its 2019 and i still come to this video to see wang destroy that wing at 14:34. That is crazy good
I really think Formula Drift should get some truly excited announcers like the guys from D1 Grand Prix, it would make it more awesome lol
fruitydudexD facts bro
Tuerk and Forsberg's runs KILLED it! O_o Ah so close Forseberg.... Nice driving though!
Couldnt say better
Martin Atyne no angle aasbo. But personaly i dont like where fd is going. Like where is the style? Forrest wang and alec are the ones that bring the angle to the sport. Now all that fd wants is speed and, no angle. Its just sad.
Then you have Vaughn who crashes his car, but does it with style and skill.
17:42 waaaaow look at that follow run transition. Gorgeous
Had to watch this again! Awesome battles! Thought Alec beat Chris in their first battle. Great battles this round!
7:15 Justin Pawlak go 90 degree entry
"Weird iniciation here"
woulda been nuts if he kept up with the lead on that initiation.
VTnadaVer reverse entry
god damn forrest wang went crazy on his lead run , aggressive as hell
Lol "Wang, in the rear" 😆
Whole else thinks there should be a Forza Formula Drift DLC??
now there is a lot of fd cars xd
Aasbo vs Bakchis, what the heck, thats just some insane skill there.
Correction hohnadell vs forsberg was just all out sex omg what an amazing battle.
Awesome event, thank for the upload :D
I jizzed at forsberg's chase run
I love drifting and any Motorsport really but could someone explain to me how D1 works and how you win and what your goal is thanks
aaawwwww.....
what is the name of the car used by odi bakchis?
couldn't be less surprised about jtp getting into jr again....
esta vaina es calidad como me gustaría que en mi país se hagan estos circuitos saludo desde Venezuela
Forsberg chase run is really intimidating
At least Aasbo seems to be trying on his chase runs now.
Aasbo had a better lead and more proximity in the chase.
+Ghostevent I wouldn't immediately give Coffman the win either, a OMT should've been a thing. Aasbo was better in the chase position but I thought Coffman had a slightly better line
but this time we saw how forsberg actually deserved his place on the podium, i mean c'mon the run with hohnadell was just beast
Odi and Wang are 2 of the best young drivers but they always get put against each other or people like Forsberg and Aasbo that the judges refuse to give a loss to unless they spin or something. Don't get me wrong they're both incredible drivers and I've chilled with Forsberg a few times at my local track but some of their wins are unjustified.
once again big money energy drink cars in the finals? I honestly love the direction formula drift is going...
It isn't always about maximum angle and proximity.
+Louis Y If it wasnt just about angle and proximity Alec would have beaten Chris but unfortunately it isn't. It's about DriftAlliance brahhh!
I'm in no means a judge but aasbo vs Coffman aasbo I don't think should have won same with forsberg and tuerck should have at least gone OMT I've always said that the judges in the series are biased towards certain drivers and half the time it's like I'm obviously right
7:14 This run tho, Pawlak aggressive af
Wangs angle is literally godly
why v8?
Remember in 2013 when Vaughn Gittin Jr. did a reverse entry and the announcer freaked out? Guess he forget about that when JTP did it.
Ami I the only one who thought forseberg got a second chance in top 16? Alec shoulda got in normally
your not the only one
what psi are these guys running in there tire
like 8 i think
how the heck do they manage to see everything with all that smoke
Did anyone else laugh when he said wang in the rare
if only foresberg didnt had that mistake on the 1st run of the finals he would of won !
why do they have brake lights on the windshield?
So the judges can see when they are braking.
So the judges know when they left foot brake
Wang killed it on his lead run
Anyone know why Vaughn has a lift kit on his car?
Maybe for weight transfer or something along those lines the Mustang probably weights more than the competition so it might help the car move around better
So he could Crash into crowds more easily
Dominik Störk Thanks
Beast runs from Alec
Alec Honadell was on fire
In my honest opinion, i think the final battle should have been OMT.
14:09 ?? all out battle? chris was rekting him
Aasbo...always the one who lacks angle...always!
Even the french announcer said he was known to have less angle and more speed, like wtf if i wanted to see speed i'd go to f1 or nascar not drift lmao..
Silvia S13 facts
I've watched 3 of these and I am still confused how the judging works.
points are added by how long the driver has been in FD and also how bigger sponsors they have
+Rory Mallinson lol this made me laugh haha, but seriously... it's true.
14:33 forrest wang lost his wang
5:15 run hohnadell.... damn son
Didn't forest quit?
yea he quit then un-quit lol
He rage quit and then remembered what a dumb fool he is for doing so.
The Scion TC looks crap without mods but that car is amazing
"THE KING OF THE NOOOORRTHHHH!"
Recent decision appears to have been orchestrated:(
0:40 "Wang.. In the rear"
wow denofa having more car troubles.....so messed up.
Eu não me canço de relembrar
Pawlak should have beaten Gittin jr
i guess vaughn's car wasn't tuned well..
Feel like Hohnadell should have took the win after the first battle, Forseberg made contact and dropped a wheel on both runs and didnt get as tight to the wall or clipping points with a shallower line and less angle, feeling like a biased decision has thrown it yet again, other than that awesome driving

First time in a while that it's not obviously rigged...
it was still pretty obvious
Oh look another "FD is rigged" comment. Definitely not the first time.
tuerck should of went trough
12:56 friend battle.
JTP initiating with a reverse entry and it's 'weird'..
+Samuel Bercilla If he didn't lose much speed or if he did it on a lead run it would have been better.
+Alexander Willems but still tho.. The judges and Jared are acting like it is unheard of to initiate like that.. I remember Kawabata @ D1GP got cheered at when he did a reverse entry. Just saying.
+Podver3 And when Vaughn did one in 2013 and the same announcer went crazy.
Cameron playing tricks? 2 chase drivers running into him
Wtf how did forsberg win
Aasbo won
Wtf is up with the commentator ''Wang in the rear'' ''Wang throws it in'' like wtf
Agreed...And at other events: "Wang goes deep into outer zone 1" or "Let's see if Wang can whip it out here". Best part of going to an event is you don't hear as much of the crap commentary over the engines
too good
waiting for madmike won the championship
Hohnadell should have won the first time, refs suck
"Wang in the rear"
Matt Coffman was good
7:12
need better way of judging these events
not montreal...
Yeah because no one knows where the fuck Saint-Eustache is. Hopefully, they don't come back here next year. What a shitty course for drifting.
anybody can google a location now were not in the 90's... i see what you mean concerning the drift course, i lap there every monday but we use the full road course not the shitty little oval crap for people who can only turn left!
???? you see a drift competition in the lapping part? really?
???? wtf are you talking about?
no, i think he didn't understand my comment & thinks i said they drift the road course.
...or something like that.
... this still unfair
At 00:35 he says " wang in the rear."
damn forrest wong shouldd quit again slow ass drifts making ppl crash
Every time I watch formula drifting I wonder... Just why the fuck is there a commentator?????
