Can we just discuss how kind HB is thinking of the kid getting bullied and trying to talk to parents to stop this happening to others what a lovely man!!
I was thinking the same. I felt bad for that kid. His parents are clueless. The dad has no finesse he was like a bull in a China shop. Who needs parents like that. My parents bever cut my hair. I am very grateful they didn't cross that line and make me look an idiot.
Hair Buddha is spot on, kids can be cruel. Parents don't consider that when they get ideas that their kid will be stuck with other kids fir hours every day at school to deal with the aftermath of their bad decisions.
I love that you say, "think about what other kids will say" when you're dealing with your child & then sending them to school. It does leave permanent emotional scars & trauma. We don't need to give bullies any ammunition. Thank you HairBudda for having such a warm heart and caring about the kids :)

You were so kind in talking about how the parents probably aren't trying to give their kid a bad haircut and I completely agree with everything that you said. All I can think of when I look at that kid with this haircut is Mo from the 3 stooges.. I really hope he didn't get picked on.

I checked him out. It's very sad, he is only 23 and has multiple sclerosis (MS). He's using the channel to make people aware of the disease. He wears hats and this was a second bowl cut. I guess he has bigger concerns than his hair.

I searched history of bowl cut. Fun facts: It was common among European men in 12th - 15th centuries then Russian serfs (labourer on lord’s estate) in 18th century. The style req’d no skill or brushing and no cost if poor. It straddled line btw longer styles in and out of trend in Middle Ages and shorter cuts used by soldiers and religious leaders. Men who could afford it often wore elaborate hats with it. ✌️🌎

Bowl cut in Venezuela is known as "corte de tapara": the "tapara" or "totuma" is a type of tree gourd like fruit used to make... well, bowls. This is why Yanomami and other Amerindians in South America have this hair cut... if they have it, they are from the rain forest.
Amerindians are short, and aggressive. Character makes up for shortness.

Been watching your videos for a while now... I think you're fab and you make my day. I'm a hairdresser of 35+ years ( failed spinal fusions mean I'm unable to work just now) I've had a spinal cord stimulator fitted a few weeks back and I'm a little concerned that when I work again someone might expect me to have a bowl in my case! Mullets seem popular just now ( omg I did those in the 80s) I reckon perms will be back in vogue soon😲

I am 23 years old and from the age of 14 I cut my hair. I have a hair that has suffered a lot, but now it is not visible, after the passage of time. Now I enjoy a beautiful hair and saved from misfortunes due to some like you❤
My son had a cut like that when he was 10…yup in the 90’s…it was called the mushroom cut. He looked cute. But if it’s not the current thing I guess it’s not a good cut to give.

I've been maintaining my own haircuts for about 3.5 years, since about a year and a half before the pandemic.
I maintain a skin-tight undercut and trim/style my main body of hair. It's currently at bob-length, just past my jaw.
I started cutting mine and my husband’s at the start of the pandemic. Our hair is both wavy/ curly, so mistakes don’t show quite as bad.
Actually I'm 62 and when my son was about 6 a mushroom cut was very popular and it looked exactly like a bowl cut. It was a nightmare for me. He had beautiful Ginger hair and I had let it grow long. His father picked him up for the day and when you brought him home I'm sorry but he just looked like a sweet little derp. He was so excited about his new haircut I just held back the tears and told him how awesome he look. The worst part is it wasn't just a little boys that were wearing these cuts it was older teens and young man. My gosh they look Goofy. In my teenage years every man had long hair except for fathers. I'm looking forward to the day when long hair on men becomes very popular again.
