- The Chinese Make-Up company Catkin reached out to me several weeks ago to see if I'd be interested in trying their brand. Checking their website, I saw beautiful packaging and lovely color stories for their palettes, I agreed to give them a try. Here's my 1st impressions and I'm impressed for such a reasonably priced brand!

A friend just gifted me a beautiful carved lipstick from this brand. I had never heard of them either but the packaging it’s so gorgeous! The lipstick it’s a work of art!

I've purchased a few of their items from Amazon, but I've never seen the lip balm! I'll have to try to get a few things from their website!
I found their shadow palettes to be beautiful as well, but maybe slightly unpredictable on first application? Not that the application was had, it was just not as expected from the pan. Their neutral brown palette is one of my every day palettes.
It's a shame they didn't send you a blush because they are BEAUTIFUL!!! A standout not only in the range, but in my overall blush collection! Marbled and so so so creamy for a powder, with a gorgeous healthy radiance. They remind me of a combo between the Clinique Cheek Pop and the new Huda Beauty glowy blushes. I think you'd love them!
I think your look is pretty, the contrast of the lavender eyes and warm lip is unexpected! I like it!

What beautiful packaging! I love your reviews and would like to see another look with the pallet just for fun. The lack of transparency in ingredients makes it a no go for me to purchase. I followed the amazon link, too many spelling errors and instances where the wording is just not quite right. If I received an email written that way, I wouldn't open it. A "seller" in the comment section shared a list of ingredients, but I suspect it is incorrect. There are no pigments included.
I think the color looks alright on your face, at least on the camera, it looks perfect to me. And what you did with the eyeshadow finished up looking great. thanks for the video and Happy Christmas

I just received my foundation and I have a question. Do you remove the sponge resting on the foundation or blot the makeup pad on the sponge?
I like this foundation shade better on you than the Lisa Eldridge. Might be a bit cool but not too yellow.

I've read some disturbing things about the safety of makeup made in China. You say "be safe, be smart"... in order to do that I would need to see ingredients and know about where it was made. Also, there are some very questionable labor practices in China, so I would, again, need to know where and how the makeup is made.
Sure - there's that to consider. Here's the other side of that: 99% of people don't know what the ingredients are that are in their cosmetics even when they are listed. I regularly look up ingredients and what they do and even I don't fully understand them, chemically, because I'm not a chemist. As far as questionable labor practices - take a look at your cell phone and your computer and do a quick search on chip manufacturing labor practices - and then do a search of Foxconn. The truth is, whether we like it or not, Chinese manufacturing is part of our daily lives as is questionable labor practices. Which brings me to this idea - where does one draw the line? "I'm okay with it if it's my phone - or my computer, or the computer in my car - or the clothes on my back - but I'm not okay with it when it comes to make up," then that's your decision. I had given it some thought before I did this video - and I decided to go ahead with it for the reasons stated.
@@TheHoodedLid I do have the ability and education to understand about most ingredients, but you are right, many people do not. I do think people should educate themselves, too, if they are able to do so. I just don't want to put some things on my skin, especially as I have very sensitive and reactive skin, if I shouldn't be, (I am NOT a "clean" beauty user only, because the "clean" beauty trend is pretty much a gimmick.) And yes, you ask a good question in regards to manufacturing: where does one draw the line? You are right about Chinese manufacturing, for sure. For me a line is certainly drawn at non-necessary beauty products. Personally, I won't buy fast fashion made in China or makeup made there about which I have no info on ingredeints and safety and labor practices.

Lovely packaging and everything looks pretty on you. But purchasing make-up from China - no thank you. Went to their website and could not locate any specific listed ingredients. If they can't be transparent about what is used in the make-up, I'm not interested.
