Was gonna say the same 👍
i hate how dumb you make me feel :D, Top job @mainly heres me thinking im ready to qualify
Ok, so thinking about this first video a bit. My understanding of this is that it would not be quite the same as loss of PEN on PME. Here when the main switch is off, there is no return to the point at which the earth connection is made from the supply neutral. So the earth cabling doesn’t become live.
However the neutral bar becomes live because the line conductor to the A1 terminal on the contactor in the consumer unit exits at A2 and there is no return path to the supply neutral.
And so with the main switch off, would that mean that the coil in the consumer unit would not operate because there is no return neutral, and the line conductors of circuits are live supplied from the live neutral bar and neutral conductors through various pieces of equipment
??????. My brain hurts!!!
Same in my flat when I moved in. Out of interest I queried it with the smart meter installer who checked with his boss and said it was acceptable. Not sure they really understood the problem.
Seen this before on a block of flats with how the economy 7 was wired wasn't as many flats as you hwithbut luckily we had dual supply CUs so just put henleys in for the neutrals for the economy 7 for 5 flats
That’s crazy , and dangerous and quite obvious. You have a neutral to the contactor yet not used. Nice job to sort that out and your name will pick up all future work.
Already have R .. got all the flats to test
Wasn’t even a big job in the first place to do it correctly and safely!!!
4.16 protection against electromagnetic effects where cables enter consumer unit/ distribution board I think also needs to be taken into consideration. Great shout about the neutrals becoming live honestly I doubt I would have spotted that (feeling ashamed)
So in a nutshell, the flats situation is the same scenario as losing the PEN conductor in a PME supply, but only when the contactor is energised.! By redirecting the live supply which triggers the contactor back through the system having lost only the Neutral when the main flats switch is off, which does not switch the contactor live, as it is fed from an earlier position. Phew.!!
How is the earthing to that envlosure you got open? I can see the trouble brewing there too.
No one would be working on that board between midnight and 7am so no problem 😀
Borrowed neutral very dangerous!
You have actually explained the problem in two words.
Should that 3 phase board on a TT have a 4 pole incomer.
4 pole RCD upstream mate and a 4 pole 609473 before that 👍
@ why don’t all 3 phase boards have a 4 pole incomer ? Surely it’s better for safe working and then you only isolated the local board not the upstream board or sub.
@@rogerbean393on some machinery switching the neutral can damage the equipment, it’s recommended to a 3 pole isolator for three phase on terra neutral supplies and a 4 pole for tt systems since the neutral potential is not guaranteed
Neutral earth potential*
Well spotted, you can’t make it up🤦♂️
Might as well wire a perm live its almost there . A whack of the neutral is as more dangerous as a live . And how on hell has it passed time and tiem again back handers .
