I feel your frustration over losing your first day. I'm a field geologist and I do research on WSMR (around Salinas Peak) and we constantly get shut down by operations😂 Put in for the Oryx hunt as often as I can. I know the land out there very well from my research and have my fingers crossed that I get lucky!
I live here in NM, crime sucks but hunting is the best. Have done my once in a lifetime, did a depredation hunt on Holloman AFB and taken two off-range Oryx. Great eating for sure.
I put in for the draw and was lucky enough to get it. I have been putting in for this tag for several years. Residents have a much higher chance than non-residents, but it still isn't the best. Keep trying, and eventually, you can get drawn.
So because your muzzle hit dirt there is dirt in your action…not likely bro. If you have dirt/ sand in your action it had nothing to do with the muzzle dipping into dirt or sand. It doesn’t travel up the barrel.

How many broken horn oryx did you see? I see they have those hunts but hard to know how many legal animals are out there
Tons. What is crazy is they are significantly bigger bodied because they don't need to use the energy to grow their horn.
How did you get a permit. I live in NM and can’t draw this tag.

The muzzle hit the sand and got into the suppressor. When I pointed the muzzle in the air, it went down the barrel.
First a bomb?? Nah, that was Vegas. I work at the lab.
First atomic bomb was built in Los Alamos, NM and detonated at the Trinity Site in WSMR. I've worked with both places 😂
