I hate/love the overuse of Boccherini's Minuet in G in 90% of "fancy restaurant" scenes. Also, I hate when crime dramas show the villain sharpening knives or planning horrible things while listening to "Sheep May Safely Graze" or something similar. Like the audience is supposed to think "He listens to that violin stuff, what a weirdo!"
Maybe bad choices of music for movie, but there are several pieces of music I heard for first time. Violin concerto in D minor 2nd movement is a favorite.
Oh, that scene with William Hurt (RIP) was truly cringeworthy. But you made me laugh with your comments! I still remember how that movie was so celebrated at the time for its shamelessly condescending PC plot theme, I think it even won an Oscar or something. "Se7en" - LOL. Forgettable movie to me, since I don't even recall what happened in the end! "Brief Encounter" + Rach 2 = overdose of schmaltz. And I love the Rach concertos 2&3 all by themselves. Thanks for another fun video!
I really liked 'Brief Encounter' when I saw it many years ago and I think I still would even today (I don't mind the sentimentality, it's a melodrama after all). But glad to see some of the other picks whose acclaim I've never understood (Platoon and Seven).
Ok I'm about to hit play on this but just let me say how UTTERLY DISAPPOINTED I shall be if Love Eat Pray's misuse of the aria of the Queen of the Night is on it. An song in German about patricide to celebrate eating really good pasta in Italy. NO I say good sir, NO.
Why don't you make another vid on the actual composers who had classical or concert careers but wrote great film scores. Not just Shostakovich or Prokofiev or Walton or Copland, but also Rozsa, Korngold, Herrmann.

The deaf person one was so cringe!
what do you think about the use of Brahms Violin Concerto in "There will be blood"?
I love your channel and your videos. Please never stop
I am quite surprised when V for Vedetta is in this list.
Yeah, I don't mind this use either.

The Se7en one really hit home 😭

I don't mind any of those

So much truth!
😂😅😅😅 well as I was watching platoon I thought that Adagio was overused. But is Oliver Stone really that bad ? 😮

What are your alternative choices?
I honestly really dislike the 1812 overture…
