Very useful. I was using an Excel spreadsheet as a data source and hit up against the 1 million row limit. Append appears to be a solution that will allow me to begin a new table that is linked to a new Excel file and then append it to the original and so not have to change the connections to my related visuals.
Good luck with maintain these excels. It's good solution for one time report. Better is agree and keep same format across all files and upload all files in one process in Dataflow/Query. And it's even better because you'll get 1 extra column with source file name. So you will know exact from what file came data you looking at.
By appending, we've lost the data of what class the student is in. Is there a way to keep that data without just adding another column of "teacher" before the append?

I have built all my dashboards based on the API. Now if I follow your steps and append the historical one with the API one, does the data that’s coming from API in the appended table still gets updated or it overwrites the historical one as well? I need to keep the historical data fixed and refresh the API data daily.
