Used to make these with fabric ribbon in the 1990's but the stores don't sell it anymore. Thank you for the detailed directions on how to make these with fabric. Your suggestions are so helpful. Thank you.
Thank you so much for your video. I have been making round quilted ornaments from my local quilt shop. But was not aware of the pine cone ornaments. They are so lovely. Great tip with the glue! You are a wonderful teacher!
OMG, I never saw these before. Guess Ive been under a rock, but this is so addictive. I have made over 50 so far. Just went to hobby lobby this morning and purchased 60 more eggs of all different sizes. Now Ive even started doing this in two tone fabrics. My fingers are callused over from pushing in the pins. They are going to look wonderful hanging on my stairway.TFS.
I haven't made these in years. They are so pretty and so simple to do. FYI They can also be made using 1" wide, fairly stiff ribbon cut into 2" lengths. I just love your videos. I have to say you are a born teacher.
I love that you put your finger in the glue, made a cute reference to balls and then apologized for it, and didn't like the last set of cranberries so just ripped it off. So real!
I finally found a site that would teach me how to make the folded fabric pine cones. Thank you for this and all your other wonderful videos. Looking forward to more of your recipes and craft projects. Happy Holidays
I love the fabric ornaments! I'm always looking for a new craft...have done so many different crafts over the years and love new ideas...it looks easy enough and fun to do!! thank you!
Thank you. I tend to like things that look fussy but aren't necessarily fussy to make. It's all in the details which if you're going to spend 20 minutes making something, may as well spend another 5 to kick it up a notch!
That is so cute! Would make cute Easter egg ornaments to put inside a basket. Love your videos ... so well explained and visualized. Refreshing to see a guy doing this sort of thing.
I don't know your profession, but you're an excellent teacher! I've watched all of your craft videos and enjoyed each one. The only one I find a little difficult is the crocheted snowflake. That's because I'm just learning to crochet, not because the instructions aren't clear. I'm going to try it soon. Thank you for the lessons.
That, they would. You can do the same thing using round balls and there is a way to fold the last square so all edges are turned under and also hide the pins in the corners if you wish to go that route.
Cute idea.. I think ironing the squares into the shape needed ahead of time would save time.. especially if making more than one, which I think most would do if doing these. Like the fabric idea more than the paper one I saw
I thought those were going to be so difficult to make, but you explained it so simply! I cant wait to try some! I love all of your videos and look forward to seeing more.
Those pinecones are adorable! and even I could make these! I just love Christmas, and having a few new items each year is so much fun. I can't make the elaborate things I used to be able to do each year, husband bedridden, but THIS I can do. Thank you so much for the video, I have so wanted a small project, and this is the first that really got to me. I tend to want to go wild with Christmas ornaments. They're really nice, and take little room to make. Just Darling!
Wow they are so beautiful! You are so good at showing us how to do it. I couldn't do this as I am not a crafty person and have no patience. You must be a teacher, you make perfect how to videos! Thanks for all you do.
I am starting a Christmas in July ornament making get together and several of your ornaments are kicking off the season. Thanks so much. Love your tutorials.
And they were absolutely beautiful. For the first ornament exchange, I made Christmas balls using this technique. I only made 3 or 4 though as I like to change up my ornaments. Fantastic job and I love mine.
A fat quarter is a quarter yard of fabric. They're sold as-is instead of having to be cut off the bolt. As well, they are twice as wide (where the 'fat' part comes from) as a normal 1/4 yard. A 1/4 yard that is cut off the bolt is 9" wide and 44" long whereas a fat quarter is 18" wide but 22" long (basically a 1/2 yard cut in half width wise instead of length wise). It's a good way to buy a bunch of different fabrics instead of having to wait for a store associate to cut all of them.
Thank you!! I subbed you because of your recipes...but was binge watching today and saw this!! You actually explained the process in more detail than other channels that did these ornaments. Two thumbs up!!! :-)
Once you get into a groove, they go rather quick. I could get all the fabric folded and pinned in 15 minutes without ever putting the styrofoam egg down after doing a couple. And no meaning in the numbers. I tried finding tags that would look good with them and had no luck until I found a piece of scrapbooking cardstock with the 25 days of Christmas on it. So I cut each 'day' out and made them into tags!
Thank You 😊 I love the idea of glueing everything, because I was wondering about that, when I watched some other videos and they did not glue, I was like oh dear that’s lame to come apart. Loved your video!!!🦋
Very informative and well done. I couldn't wait to try one of these. I had fun picking out different fat quarters and I enjoyed creating my first one. Will be making many more. Thanks for the video!
Wonderful video! This is the first one of yours I have watched. Easy to follow and you don't stray off subject- I really like that. Thank you for sharing :)
I'm in love with these! I call the style I decorated my home in rustic-lodge chic. ;). These will be an awesome addition as a group placed in a basket on my kitchen table. Love, love, LOVE them!!!! TFS! :)
I think this was a GREAT tutorial. I think I'm going to make these for my family with their college colors, Halloween (candy corn) and Harvest colors. Thanks for the idea.
Most impressive. I wish I had the patients and creativity to do stuff like that. But it is great fun watching and learning new things like this. Thanks for making this video. Is Christmas your favorite time of year?
One other thought to share with everyone- just change your fabric colors to brights or pastels and cover the tops with ribbons/bows, and you can make these into easter eggs! Happy Crafting :)
Really nice tutorial! I know you posted this a couple of years ago, but I just recently found your channel! My husband and I love your cooking tutorials! Sorry for all the exclamation points!!! :)
I love how you ripped off one of the berries at the end because you didn't like it. HAHAHA I do things like that all the time! Great instructions! Really cute too!
These also make great decorative "bowl fillers" - sans the Christmas portion at the top. I also like to make the quilt-pattern type that use round styrofoam :)
Not sure if you will get this since this is an old video but I'm confused on the instructions. I've watched this a few times but just can't seem to get the row thing. Are they all lined up or staggered. The fabric doesn't come through too clear so it is hard to distinguish the rows. Sorry if I am a little dense on this but I'm trying to make these and am not getting it.
Thanks. I'm German so I LIVE for Christmas! We spend 6 months celebrating it and the next 6 months planning for it. ;-)

I'm glad I found this! I made several of these a few years ago and they are still the prettiest yet. I'm going to make more, thanks!

i've seen several versions of this pattern but your choice of fabric and the result is really amazing. good job
Wonderful instructions and beautiful ornaments! Thanks for a great tutorial.

I love all the Christmas Ornaments you made and you explain it so well .
The ornamental pinecone de-mystified. What a great little ornament! Love your choice of fabric too.
It helps a lot if you iron your fabric first so you are not battling the wrinkles as you work. Your work also looks much smoother.
Those pinecones are adorable! and even I could make these! I just love Christmas, and having a few new items each year is so much fun. I can't make the elaborate things I used to be able to do each year, husband bedridden, but THIS I can do.

I remember seeing those that you did too. These are pretty much along the same lines so you know the time they take!
I absolutely loved watching your video. Your tone, description etc. was perfect. What I wouldn't give to get together and do crafts with you!!! :)
Great video and super instruction with a clear voice. Thank you so much for your time and talent and, of course, for sharing it freely! JCAllen

try using an old fashioned quilting thimble to push pins in and save the skin on the fingertip.
I loved this tutorial!!!! I always thought these looked too difficult to make until now!!! I just wish he would use his iron!!!
Love it, thank you for the demo
These also make great decorative "bowl fillers" - sans the Christmas portion at the top. I also like to make the quilt-pattern type that use round styrofoam :)
