- How to make folded fabric pine cone ornaments like the ones I did for the ornament exchange. You can use any selection of fabric for these; I used patterned fabrics with brown being the main color. You can also use ribbon instead of fabric.
What you'll need:
fabric (one fat quarter will yield you 2 ornaments)
rotary cutter
rotary mat
styrofoam eggs
sequin pins
craft glue (Elmers)
hot glue and hot glue gun
ribbon
floral piks and miniature ornaments to decorate the top
Hope you all enjoy!
Thanks. I'm German so I LIVE for Christmas! We spend 6 months celebrating it and the next 6 months planning for it. ;-)
Thank you. I tend to like things that look fussy but aren't necessarily fussy to make. It's all in the details which if you're going to spend 20 minutes making something, may as well spend another 5 to kick it up a notch!
Thank you so much for your video. I have been making round quilted ornaments from my local quilt shop. But was not aware of the pine cone ornaments. They are so lovely. Great tip with the glue!
thank you for such well put together instructions for the egg shape. love the pic with all your finished exchange ornaments.
this is #1 on my project list to make for Christmas this year; clear-cut instructions, thank you........
I love the fabric ornaments! I'm always looking for a new craft...have done so many different crafts over the years and love new ideas...it looks easy enough and fun to do!! thank you!
One other thought to share with everyone- just change your fabric colors to brights or pastels and cover the tops with ribbons/bows, and you can make these into easter eggs! Happy Crafting :)
The ornamental pinecone de-mystified. What a great little ornament! Love your choice of fabric too.
OMG, I never saw these before. Guess Ive been under a rock, but this is so addictive. I have made over 50 so far. Just went to hobby lobby this morning and purchased 60 more eggs of all different sizes. Now Ive even started doing this in two tone fabrics. My fingers are callused over from pushing in the pins. They are going to look wonderful hanging on my stairway.TFS.
I love that you put your finger in the glue, made a cute reference to balls and then apologized for it, and didn't like the last set of cranberries so just ripped it off. So real!
I'm glad I found this! I made several of these a few years ago and they are still the prettiest yet. I'm going to make more, thanks!
That is a really great way to make them, liked the fabric too.
I remember seeing those that you did too. These are pretty much along the same lines so you know the time they take!
I love to watch you, I never get bored I watch till the end. you do not get off topic and you are each to follow.
Gosh - those ornaments are darned cute!
Thanks for the demo. Easy and fun to make. Your instructions are clear and easy to understand.
i've seen several versions of this pattern but your choice of fabric and the result is really amazing. good job
I haven't made these in years. They are so pretty and so simple to do. FYI They can also be made using 1" wide, fairly stiff ribbon cut into 2" lengths. I just love your videos. I have to say you are a born teacher.
Great video! I must try this. I agree that you are an excellent teacher!
Balls! lol, it's ok no need to apologize, you weren't inappropriate! What a hoot! Crack me up 🌞 Those pinecones are gorgeous!
