Matt thank you so much for showing what incredible pieces that you can create looping. I will never match your talent but I can loop, and will improve with your benchmarks. Best, Peter
I cannot imagine a scenario where this dude and his incredible skill is playing in the corner of the room, but I just keep eating or whatever instead of giving him my undivided attention.
very curious to how your setting your delay for the drum fills. love your set up man! keep up the good work. also how you recording? mixer to zoom sorta deal?
Thanks! I just put a delay on the instrument input sometimes for the delay. I'm plugging the mixer directly into an interface. No separate stream mix. It's the exact mix that is going to the speakers. Plus, I'm not necessarily "recording"...everything is live-streamed. Live in the moment.
Man, the number of hours you have in learning to multi-task all that stuff is probably close to the number of hours I spent trying to keep egos tampered to keep bands together 30 years ago. ha ha. But, now I wish I'd learned to loop, instead. Good show.
Great performance my friend. I'm curious - why are you running both the Roland Hand Sonic and the Yamaha FGDP-50. I'm thinking of switching over to one of them from my current set-up.
Very nice Br 👏👏, your styles creations very interesting I am Christian worshiper singer I play Yamaha PSR S arranger keyboard player with KORG electribe 2 , I enjoyed your creations, must be nice with Bose Speakers too 👍, sound like alive band ,😊 Can you do few Christian great 17:33 worship songs ( I am calling God of Moses , I speak to Jesus ,) as well🤝🇨🇦 17:58
Oh! Something new in the equipment again. I wonder which drum set will stay longer... Roland seems more handy... but the capabilities of the new device can change a lot. I'm watching with interest :)
@@MattBoltonMusic I have the impression that the size and arrangement of the pads in the current device are also more appropriate. Playing it is more like playing an instrument. Yamaha is more like playing on a computer keyboard... it must not be very comfortable...
@@MattBoltonMusic OK Matt. I'll be happy to follow your progress :) a bit late, because I live... in a slightly different time and watching your live shows doesn't match my sleep time :D Regards and I'm watching closely. :)
Thanks. The saxophone has a battery pack and a wireless transmitter taped to it. Everything goes into a mixer first. The Yamaha finger drum is great. I was testing it out to see if I could use it on fly dates for a smaller setup.
Hi Matt, i love your setts , i have a rc600 ,definitely need more practice. Can I ask, what is the horn instrument you're using, it sounds amazing, thanks for the music 😊👍
I agree, last nite the Roland sounded better to my ear .. but if anyone can dial in a piece of equipment it’s Matt .. I’m guessing the Yamaha will sound much better as he makes the adjustments to it..
I like them both. But I haven't really explored or customized too much the Yamaha yet. I don't use ANY presets on any instrument or pedal I have. Everything has to be customized. So it'll take me a while to dial it in.
Forgive me for bombarding you with questions. What do use for vocal effects? Also on the rc600 are you putting drum on separate loop? I’m just trying to understand your workflow on the looper. Everything sound so good.
Hi Matt you're really talented and a virtual 'One Man Band' awesome. Can you tell me how you make the FGDP-50 play in time? I have one and find no 'Quantize' function and may return it. Thanks pal!
Thanks! Not sure what you mean. It's not playing anything. I'm just using it as an instrument and not as a drum machine of any kind. In other words, there is no quantization on a saxophone either, or guitar, or drums. They are just instruments that you can record into something else. What I think you mean is how is it playing the repeated beat? I'm recording what I play on the FGDP into an RC-600 Boss Loop Station. I'm recording a beat and then hitting play exactly on the downbeat so that it is in time. I'm recording the loop perfectly in time and the loop repeats itself perfectly in time. Hopefully that makes sense. The FGDP is doing nothing but producing sounds that I'm recording into a looper. The only time the FGDP is doing anything is when I'm striking it. All the other sound you hear is from the loop pedal.
amzn.to/3vqiaDH No, not really. The voice is like any other muscle. The more you workout the easier it is to have endurance. I often do back to back 3 hour straight gigs. 6 hours of singing. So 3 hour gigs or 2 hour gigs are like a marathon runner going for a jog. It's easy. When I take a 2 week break from gigs, like I just did for vacation. Sometimes, it takes me a while to get my vocal muscles back in shape. Not looking forward to gigs every night of the week this week. Luckily I'm starting with an easy 2 hour gig tomorrow.
Come on Matt ... I did not say Ringo was not talented ... I mean ... he drummed for the beatles for god sake ..top of the pack... and he popularize the match grip...so no argument there...but his leave me alone stuff just seemed ungracious for someone who portrayed himself as the happy go lucky , everyman beatle. And being that he is just 1 of 2 still alive that fans can interact with he could have been it done better ...and while we all need our space I just thought it was off puttingly weird ...for someone who while amazing and also amazingly lucky to just say... STOP. I on the other hand always answer ALL... my fan mail... and happy to do in person signing and pic requests ... which of course is often overwhelming as I regularly get somewhere between...zero and up to a couple dozen on a good year...haha.
Not replaced. It's decent. None of the presets are very usable and it's not as expressive as the HandSonic. All the presets are mixed poorly IMO and you can't edit them. It's definitely designed more for playing with the speaker. I'm only using it to have as a backup to the HandSonic and also for my travel fly-rig. I'm getting lots more offers for corporate gig fly dates and my current setup is difficult to fly with. So I'm trying to make a smaller setup. The only way to learn how to use it is to use it, so I'm gigging with it now just to see how it works. I will likely not remove the HandSonic.
Yes, it's not designed for professional use. It's for campfire drumming or band practice with acoustics. It's not a professional grade instrument, but I make it work.

absolutely loved it! O_O Great work!
Awesome, you nailed it! Bravo!!I use my RC600 for gigging too, and I'm in the market to look after this kind of finger drumpad, looks very nice.
Awesome!
That setup and the way you mesh it all together is sweet. Thanks for the inspiration and entertainment.

Hello Matt, so? Yamaha fgdp 50 or Roland hpd 20 Who is the best? 🤔
The sounds of Roland seem more naturals.... and the pads bigger...
I agree, last nite the Roland sounded better to my ear .. but if anyone can dial in a piece of equipment it’s Matt .. I’m guessing the Yamaha will sound much better as he makes the adjustments to it..
The Roland is like $1100, the Yamaha about $300. There should be a discernable difference. But enough to warrant the price difference?

Hai Matt, the output FGDP send to the looper via the output jack? or usb? I see the usb cable pluged it in there.
Output jack. The usb is just charging it.
Awesome man, do you ever get any PA noise from the usb being plugged in? If so how do you stop this?
