Love mine and they are still going strong after 10 years of ownership. The key to any outdoor kit in my experience is to look after it and treat it regularly with associated care products. The Meindl waterproofing Spray is also worth using on these.

I love my Meindl boots, but after two and a half years, mine now leak and are no longer waterproof. I have religiously waxed them regularly, but one of the boots has cracked quite badly, and both leak. That said, they are extremely comfortable, so even though the boots are now finished, I have ordered another pair.

excellent boots .. used them on many occasions ,, plenty summits done with these boots ,, as long as you clean and look after these boots they won't go wrong ,, a little stiff for normal hill walking but for lake district Snowdonia British extreme its OK ...

+George Morley maybe you should work on fitting your crampons properly, and spend less time reading? 😁

Alan Currie It was another chap who said it, so it's a secondhand dit, Hence I didn't feel qualified to leave my original comment there! I don't honestly know. I was only looking at these because I have another pair of non-waterproof meindls that I think are great, and I'm wondering whether to buy these or not.

+George Morley it's always a risk if fitting onto flexible boot but if boot has decent lip to grip onto and the crampons pulled really tight it shouldn't come off. Also footfall should be more cautious so as not bend too far, as then you're asking for trouble.
