Ms Georgette Djaba is a lawyer in London and a Human Rights Activist.
She is the daughter of the late Henry Kwadwo Djaba Snr, a Ghanaian millionaire businessman.
She talks about the painful ordeal her father went through as a businessman during Kwame Nkrumah and JJ Rawlings era. Mr Henry Kwadwo Djaba Snr died on 29 September 2013 in Ghana.

Bawah surrendered so that negotiations could start as demanded by Afrifa and Kotoka. But as soon as negotiations were to start, Afrifa ordered his execution. So Joshua Hamidu added his name to those who were to be executed as revenge for taking his kinsman life.

How many of you wouldn't put your children in the best schools and affluence if you can afford it? Check your biases. Is it Georgette's fault that her parents were rich? Chill. Put everything in context. She was just a preteen at the time of Kotoka coup. She was still a 16year old teenager when Rawlings did his first coup. What are you talking about?
Isn't it strange that after listening to her story - just the trauma of a little girl at the time, many people here are not even expressing some sympathy or empathy towards what she and her siblings had to go through at the time? You are here berating her, for purely being her father's daughter. Have you stopped to check your biases? Military regime isn't exceptional from these rules. If Ghana should open investigation today on AFRC/PNDC, most of the old folks will end up in jail because of the unlawful manner they handled their victims.

I heard that Dr. Kwame Nkrumah declared himself a life President and Ghana a one party state which are some of the reasons for his overthrow. I am sure some laws in Ghana were made with the sole interest of the ruling party at the time and not the people. So why should a law of this nature be referred to in judging others for treason even when that same constitution states that the judiciary os responsible for interpreting the law. I am quite sure that there were some personal interests in the execution of the Generals and not just a matter of justice

Georgette isn't fair, the point is that Afrifa overthrew a legitimate govt whether he handed over quickly or not. This is not to suggest that his execution is right, i honestly don't support it but please be honest and fair.
At the point of Nkrumah's overthrow he was a dictator who was abusing his power. He declared Ghana a one-party state, so he certainly wasn't operating a legitimate government. Under the Detention Act, he was arresting people without trial. Beyond arresting Mr. Djaba, he also arrested his former colleague J.B. Danquah who actually gave us the name Ghana. He was around 65 at the time. Not sure what a 65 year old could have done to warrant his arrest. Nkrumah had the opportunity to decolonize Ghana but he didn't. Even more extreme he forced local Kings, Chiefs to swear allegiance to the CPP, and forcefully removed them when they didn't. The jury is still out on whether he was good for Ghana. He took over Ghana with a surplus, the cedi was 1 to 1 with the British pound, but was overthrown with Ghana in a lot of debt. Remember Nkrumah wasn't executed without trial as the generals were in 1979. Nkrumah's overthrow had external influences but he brought a lot of this on himself. The more i read about him, the more I think it was premeditated. The Detention Act was signed when he was a prime minister in 1958. Ghanaians need to study our history!

Ankrah was head of state for 3-years after Nkumah’s overthrow, while Afrifa only served a year till hand over to Akuffo-Addo’s father. What coups did Afrifa mastermind when you say “all coup”?
