I would like to ask if I could use your example of the swing air glitch from the Dino mine level, in a video I’m making. I would go and get the clip myself but I let my cousin borrow all of my PlayStation games a few years ago and we don’t now want happened to them. I could download an emulator but for a 10 second clip thats going in a Palworld glitch video it’s probably not worth the time to work the whole game. Of course I would give you credit for at the end of the video. If that is alright with you.
My first Spyro game was Spyro 2 Riptos rage. I was given a PS1 when I was a kid since I had some sort of blood disease, so I had to sit still alot. So I remember me and my sisters had a blast with it. When the third one came out we just all agreed that it was the most fun one, in our opinion atleast. When the remaster came out, me and one of my sisters did a "lan" party so to speak and played trough the second and third game.
Spyro 2 was so good, there are still some lines from the characters that live in my head, rent free all these years later. I remember we rented spyro 1 but number 2 was the first one we owned.
I thought I was the only one who played the trilogy in reverse order! Spyro 1 always felt very weird to play for me after getting used to the last two games; especially the dash which feels way weaker and looser in 1.
I started on 2 and to this day haven’t been able to finish Spyro 1; it’s just too different it’s almost like it isn’t even in the same series (compared to 2 and 3 which are pretty similar vibes)
For me as a kid it was 2, then 3, then 1. I don't think I 100%'d any of them as a kid, but I finally got around to doing it for the whole trilogy when Reignited came out on PS4, and then did it again for the Steam version.
Mine was 3. Somehow I got max completion on it as a kid but it took me till my teen years to beat 1 and 2 at all. 2 always bored me because it felt half the levels were the same or not completed.
Awesome series!!! Not using even a single frame of gliding is incredible dedication and requires so many cool workarounds. Sounds like these take a lot of effort to make and they're all excellent
Spyro: Is a dragon, design looks built for flying, can't fly normally. Sgt. Byrd: Is a penguin, can fly. EDIT: 12:40 Well yeah, undead can't cross running water.
@@cass7448 I don't know anything past the first trilogy, but I think one of the dragons in spyro 1 specifically mentioned his wings being unusually small or something.
@@329link After the original Trilogy and 'A Hero's Tail' they released more games in another reboot trilogy ' The Legend of Spyro' and in the third title 'Dawn of the Dragon' he is older and there is a free-fly mode so it may have been more down to age I suppose
"In the Spectral Realm, water is as thin as air" - a giant squid from a PS1 platforming videogame with a purple protagonist who has wigs but can only glide, wait what
I absolutely love your channel. Not just for nostalgia sake, but for the patience and skill you show on these classic games. Kudos to you sir. Please keep the content coming.
12:35 You're undead, you have wings and can't fly, and you fall through water like it's not there. You're actually playing Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver.
I missed the stream where you did cloud spires and I couldn't wrap my head around how you managed to beat it. I had no idea that glitch existed but I am glad it did. Well done Nathan.
I’m having an absolute blast playing the remastered version and I love seeing the original. They really did it justice and kept it true to the original.
Spyro 3 was my first video game (along with SpongeBob SquarePants: Super Sponge, which I received at the same time). It forever colored my gaming experience, and I still can't help but hold any game I've played since to the standard it set. The order I played the trilogy in was 3, 1, 2.
huzzah!!! the trilogy is now complete! some of those tricks were wild to see pulled off, and im impressed you could get as much done as you did. also you have way more patience than me to pull off those proxies and have my eternal respect XD very glad i was able to be there for the majority of the streams~
Spyro 2 was my first game ever, but Spyro 3 is my all-time favorite. Some of my best memories growing up are trying to play the games with my grandma helping me hold the controller, and I credit the series for making me want to be a game developer. When the Reignited trilogy came out, the games finally looked how I remembered them looking when I was a little kid.
After playing through the games dozens of times, watching Speedruns, glitch showcases and googling for skips hours on end, I'm honestly astonished how you manage to teach me a new trick with every video in this series. I'm also really impressed that you managed to do all of these tricks, because some of them are very tricky (pun intended).
24:40 Even though I've 100 percent completed that level (My all-time favourite spyro level), I didn't even think of freezing rhynocs to get on higher areas. That is real neat!
For the past 7 or 8 months I've been watching you grow as a channel and can't wait for this channel to blow up because more people should be able to watch these videos
Had no idea there was so many glitches in the game, surprised you were able to get 91% without gliding. Probably more than I got when I played it normally when I was younger.
these videos are so satisfying. congratulations 👏 on this achievement i can't imagine how many attempts the tricks took you. i wasn't expecting you to beat the game but you did and got a really high completion rate. the original Spyro games are special to me and to many so to see them played completely different was fun.
Just gotta say the background/side bits are so well done, I really enjoy the subtle steam animation over the purple scales it’s so nice. The theming of them for each game is a detail I doubt everyone noticed but man do I enjoy them
Funnily enough my first spyro game was the first one but i had absolutely no idea the other 2 existed until a year-ish before the reignited trilogy was announced. PS1 emulators usually give me a headache so i never bother trying to set it up to play games i never played before, so i never looked. Reignited trilogy was my first time playing 2&3. And i absolutely adored Spyro in the first game as it was, easily one of my favorite mascot platformer/collectathon characters.
Same, I played Spyro 3 first too and many years later the other two ones. Still as a child though and to this day I love playing through these three, even though I know them completely from memory. I enjoyed every second of this video and I will definetly try some of these crazy glitches next time I play! :D You want to do Enter the Dragonfly next?! Oof... may the dragon god bless you. 😅
First thing you said just hit exactly home. When I was a child, I used to play Spyro 2 on a crt in my room, and when my parents got me Year of the dragon, I just assumed it was Spyro 1 and after playing it I was super confused because of the story and additionnal mechanics!
This was my first ever Spyro game as well. I played it a very young age, never touched or heard of any Spyro game afterwards. Then the Triology came and I heard about it and omg it's so nostalgic I love this game so much. Funny side story: When playing Spyro Year of the Dragon I once raged and pressed all sort of buttons at random. Somehow I managed to open the settings menu and change the language to English. I was at an age where school didn't even start to teach us English yet. I was so frustrated, because I couldn't understand anything of the game anymore and I swore to continue the game after learning the essential English basics in school. Turns out before that could happen my family sold my console and games.
It's amazing how many little mechanics come together to make this possible. Calling it right now, 10 years from now somebody will figure out how to do this and open up the bonus level.
These spyro challenge run videos you did are some of my favorite videos on youtube! Would love to see you do this with reignited, or the other spyro games!
Fun fact: This is the first video in this series I watched. I kept seeing this in my recommended and decided to watch it later. Today I went ahead and watched it not realizing that this was the third episode in the series. Since the thumbnails were so similar, I never noticed that the games were changing every time it appeared in my recommended. I will watch the Ripto's Rage video next before finishing the series off with the Spyro the Dragon one. Just to mimic your backwards playthrough of the series.
When I was really young I would play games but just kinda messing around with them. I remember a gliding tutorial for one of the spyro games and would try to make the jumps without gliding. Don't think I made but one or two jumps, but it's really cool watching you play the trilogy without gliding
year of the dragon was also the first spyro game I played as a kid! i still have huge amounts of nostalgia for this game even after many more playthroughs. also I love that you not only beat the game, but got as close to 117% as possible! some of the proxies are ridiculous!
Wow, I'm also one of the few people who played Spyro 3 first and later Spyro 2, because all I knew was there was this cool looking game named "Spyro: Year of the Dragon". You've done amazing work implementing all sorts of strategies here, well done!
You madlad. I was waiting, I swore this entire video you would never enter the Super Bonus Round. And yet... you have a way in that follows the rules. God. Damn.
I was really young and had gotten a psx and two game disc bundles: one had crash 3, ctr, and crash bash, the other being the full classic spyro trilogy. I love all three and even have the reignited trilogy on switch
My my, so many cool strats in this run!! Love your dedication. If you're looking for something to watch while editing or something, DrRank is running these games with no charging. Maybe not so many glitches and strats required, but a good watch!
Great video, though I personally would have banned flying as Sargent Byrd for consistency's sake, as he needs his wings, making his levels mostly incompletable. I could also see a ban on Sparx levels, as he is flying with wings throughout. I do still agree that the sorcerer's flying saucer's should be allowed, as they don't use Spyro's wings.
My first Spyro was the one with Cynder. That black pink dragon. I dont remember its name, but i remember that i hated the controlls. It was so hard to do the challenges from each dragon, to get the new powers, because the controlls where just keep failing and not registering.
I had nearly the same experience as a kid! I played the first Spyro game first, but the next one I got was Year of the Dragon. I didn't play Ripto's Rage until I was like 10 and buying a game with some birthday money - combine that with the fact that I heard around the bend that there was a "new spyro game" (aka year of the dragonfly, which regretfully I did eventually spend money on too) I assumed that Ripto's Rage was it, and was very surprised and confused to find Spyro forgot all of his cool abilities like swimming lol
10/10 work as always! I appreciate and respect the amount of effort that goes into these videos, and I hope it won't be long until many more people notice!
I would contest that because Sparx is always flying in his levels, they fall into the unplayable category similar to Sgt. Byrd. Either way, amazing video and I've really enjoyed watching all 3 parts of this challenge.
@@teaz3139 In the video they actually did rule out both, using it as the reason why Sgt. Byrd and Flight levels are both banned, but I was mostly jesting anyway.
Agree great video, but the rules seem arbitrary in places. Not allowing Spyro to fly but allowing Sgt byrd to seems hypocritical. His reasoning “the levels were designed with his flying” as a reason to allow Sgt Byrd falls a bit flat when you consider the entire game of spyro 3 was designed with gliding in mind. Not to mention he later uses sgt byrd to beat a normal level in enchanted towers? So it’s fine if sgt byrd flies in this level specifically but not spyro ? No mention of Sparx flying either. I’m not really complaining much because it’s an entertaining video but still.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who played them backwards LOL I love this game and Just got a spyro tattoo, it means so much to me that these games are still being talked about
Love your Videos. Sadly I've never finished any Spark (got the reignited trilogy but never got past lvl 3 in spyro 1) Hope you'll continue to find these crazy challenges. Rayman 2 is my favorite video of yours.
I just want to point something out which a lot of you may or may not know. You can play Sergeant Byrd's level in the lava world. If you jump all the way on top of his cage and walk toward the wall it will trigger the portal and you can play sergeant bird even though you haven't unlocked him yet.
Great Video. Really enjoyed all the previous ones as well! Can't wait until you get to Enter the Dragonfly. If you do the "Swim through Air Glitch" should really be the last solution. Or do it completely without it!
My first and favorite spyro game was a hero's tail. At the time, my family had a ps2, with lego star wars, atv 2, star trek conquest and three ps1 games. A heros tail, in my opinion, is awesome.
Great channel and theme going on atm all I can say is I see quick growth and this man's a genius and I ain't even talking about his games yet great game play man new sub 👏
Personally I had Spyro 1 and 3 at the same time back when I was really young, I adored them both, especially 3. The funny thing is though is that my sister called it Spyro 3, she referred to it as Spyro 3 to me, and then I called it Spyro 3.... It took me a handful of years to realise that if there's a Spyro 1 and a Spyro 3 then there MUST be a Spyro 2?! When I was around 5 or 6 I vividly remember it, being stood in a game shop, looking to my right, seeing Spyro 2 on the shelf and actually being like "WOAH!? WHAT? THERE'S A SPYRO 2!!!??" I was SO excited, my step dad at the time even said "that game is really cheap, you can get another if you want?" And I said "No I just want Spyro 2!"
Been waiting for you to do Year Of The Dragon, as that was also the first one I played! When UA-cam recommended me your first Spyro video a while ago I read the title and thought "Pft, no of course you can't, that is the whole point of the game". But I clicked anyway, and boy was I wrong haha.
@@planescaped In every aspect you are probably right, but personally my brother played the third with me the most so it keeps a special place in my heart
I played backwards too! Getting the original Spyro YOTD 117% over the summer was so satisfying. I'm working on Ripto's Rage, and once I finish that I got to hunt down the first game since we don't own it/it's lost. After that I'm gonna buy the Trilogy and play in true order! YOTD is my favorite ^^
@NGPlus great video! however you dont need to perform a zombie glitch in seashell shores to reach sheilas level, you can simply go on the side wall and face spyros back towards the ledge you want to get on top of, as you jump turn him towards the ledge and the twist of his animation should give him slightly more height than a normal jump
pausing 10 seconds in because SHOUT OUT YEAR OF THE DRAGON!!! Also my first Spyro game, and one of my favorite games ever to this day. Absolutely love it to pieces
I am genuinely curious to see these video dip into other PSone classics too, like beating Crash 1-3 without breaking ANY boxes or Abe's Oddysee without talking to a single Mudokon. It'd be interesting to see like-minded challenges in those... granted, that second one is a bad idea, as you need to at least save the first Mudokon of RuptureFarms 2 to get back in and the bird portal is in a different screen, but POINT STANDS! I'm loving these, can't wait to see more.
I'd love to be able to come up with an idea for those very games that has either not already been done, or sounds at least somewhat feasible. Thank you 😄

I'm glad I'm not the only one who played them backwards LOL I love this game and Just got a spyro tattoo, it means so much to me that these games are still being talked about
Very cool video! Thoroughly enjoyed this and the other 2 Spyro vids.
Your runs are always so awesome. :) Thank you for them!
Love your Videos. Sadly I've never finished any Spark (got the reignited trilogy but never got past lvl 3 in spyro 1)
Hope you'll continue to find these crazy challenges.
Rayman 2 is my favorite video of yours.
Thanks, I've already started Rayman 3 on Twitch 😁
I just want to point something out which a lot of you may or may not know. You can play Sergeant Byrd's level in the lava world. If you jump all the way on top of his cage and walk toward the wall it will trigger the portal and you can play sergeant bird even though you haven't unlocked him yet.
Been waiting for this challenge! I love Spyro and these videos are so interesting.
Great Video. Really enjoyed all the previous ones as well! Can't wait until you get to Enter the Dragonfly. If you do the "Swim through Air Glitch" should really be the last solution. Or do it completely without it!
Spyro The Lizard
My first and favorite spyro game was a hero's tail. At the time, my family had a ps2, with lego star wars, atv 2, star trek conquest and three ps1 games. A heros tail, in my opinion, is awesome.
Never thought i'd see someone trickshot one of the fireworks factory dragons, but i'm pleasantly surprised.
This is my favorite spyro game it was also my first introduction to the series I love your vids and am so glad you did this game!
I found the third game kind of lacking compared to the first two personally.
Been so hyped for this! Great stuff
now i'm curious to see how many glides you'd need to max% each game, with and without proxies. great video!
The only game of the original 3 that I actually beat and have the most knowledge in, so I'll actually be able to appreciate this video even more.
Ah cool, hope it meets expectations!
I've watched this video 4 times now... I cant explain why but it's just addictive to me
@NGPlus great video! however you dont need to perform a zombie glitch in seashell shores to reach sheilas level, you can simply go on the side wall and face spyros back towards the ledge you want to get on top of, as you jump turn him towards the ledge and the twist of his animation should give him slightly more height than a normal jump
Fantastic work as always looking forward to the other Spyros :)
pausing 10 seconds in because SHOUT OUT YEAR OF THE DRAGON!!! Also my first Spyro game, and one of my favorite games ever to this day. Absolutely love it to pieces
Year of The Dragon is a cover for the Dragon Space Program confirmed.
Thank you 😄
