I had the good fortune of getting some close-up shots of the western tanager's call. Unfortunately, I didn't hear it make its song as it was probably too late in the season.

The first time I saw a Western Tanager on my back borch I couldn't believe it! This incredible little tropical bird in my gray northwest climate. Some have a lot of vermillion on their heads, and look like flying flames.

Beautiful. I’ve seen/heard summer and scarlet tanagers here in GA. Someday I’d love to see the western.
