All Things Birdie

Приєднався 31 січ 2022
Hello and welcome! I produce educational videos about birds with a little bit of humor and whimsy! I'm a one-woman show researching, writing, narrating and creating videos, and I love it! And, I absolutely love birds. My goal is to convey a bird's unique adaptations, their history or relevant scientific concepts in a way that is informative and engaging. I hope you enjoy the videos as much as I enjoy making them. Thank you for stopping by!
What is bird friendly coffee?
What in the world is bird friendly coffee? Have you heard of it before? Or perhaps you already know. How bird friendly coffee came about and why, is rather interesting and so very important. How coffee is grown affects birds and other wildlife, especially migrants that over-winter and depend on the coffee plants for habitat, insects and pollen.

Is it a common grackle... or a Brewer's blackbird? It's hard to tell the difference between the two, especially taking into consideration their iridescent plumage that changes depending on the angle of the light. While they are similar, there are a few key things to look out for in these two beautiful birds. Chapters: Introduction 00:00 Plumage 00:50 Bird quiz answers! 01:53 Eye Color 02:10 Bil...
Finding a flock of over 20 wild turkeys!
Переглядів 382Місяць тому
While driving home one morning I happened upon a flock of at least 20 turkeys- AWESOME! I pulled over, whipped the phone out and started filming. This was all in the shade, but if you ever get to see a turkey's feathers in sunlight, you can see so many different colors- shades of dark purple, green, bronze, deep blues... they're so beautiful. I loved that I could hear their gentle calls to each...
Why do geese fly in the "wrong" direction?
Переглядів 597Місяць тому
Have you ever noticed a flock of geese that seem to be flying in the "wrong" direction during migration? Perhaps during fall migration you see geese that seem to be going any direction other than south? Are they confused or off track? This video takes a brief look into several reasons why this may be happening. Chapters: Introduction 00:00 Migration routes 00:42 Flying to feeding grounds 01:23 ...
Why do birds bob their heads when they walk?

Thanks
Speaking of birds flying in the wrong direction, today I got to see a White Wagtail, first recorded one to ever visit Wisconsin. Super cool! Great lifer. Somehow ended up in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, and was only an hour away and has been there for the last few days, such a treat!
What a wonderful video! I see them pretty regularly where I live and they're so adorable. Learning more about them from your video is just fantastic, thank you!
i have to watch one or two videos of yours before i sleep 😂❤ it's now a routine habbit for me
So interesting!
I saw California Scrub Jays in the Elfin Forest, Los Osos, California. I never saw a Steller's Jay. We get Blue Jays in Pennsylvania. All are beautiful and smart birds. Thanks for sharing.
Yes I live up in PANHANDLE TX. IVE WITNESSED LARGER MIGRATING FLOCKS OF GEESE AT DUSK N EARLY NIGHT BY HEARING THEM FIRST..IT ALWAYS AMAZES ME N THE INFO ON THEIR EYES N EARTH ..AMAZING TOO!! I WILL KEEP RESEARCHING THIS..VERY INTRIGUING
We have American Robins in winter months in my South Central Pennsylvania garden. I hope they make it in January and beyond in 2025. They are eatng holly berries now.
I saw cormorant fishing when I visited Guilin. One of the fishermen even let us pet his cormorant. They're nice birds and it's a lot more environmentally friendly than some of the other fishing practices that are out there. Since the cormorants are an animal that exists in nature, the fishermen who use them do not need as much manufactured equipment and they're not putting unnatural materials into the water.
I Recently subscribed to the channel i had always been Bird lover but because it was never a future thing in my country though i wished to make it a work of mine now that i am an engineer working on field these videos made me feel sooo special... please keep working and post more videos you are doing very good job i dunno who you are but you are doing great ❤
Why thank you- that means a lot, and welcome! I'm glad you're enjoying them and that they're touching the part of you that connects with and appreciates birds.
Well done, great footage!
I've never had nor heard of Bird Friendly coffee, but I definitely will be buying some! I love very strong, rich coffee. Thanks so much!❤
I am a coffee enthusiast and had no idea about this. Will start buying bird friendly coffee if possible!
Buen top
Techniques that reduce production means less profit. That puts bird friendly coffee into one of two categories. 1. Very high priced, or 2. Grown by someone who doesn’t know any better. Growers of coffee, like every other enterprise, are in business. Low or no profit means that they will soon be out of business. Perhaps folks who want bird friendly coffee should go into the business? Courtesy of Half Vast Flying
I have always been fond of the meadowlarks because of their unique pitch of high to low quality. They have beautiful vocals. Thank you for sharing the video of them. I learnt a little more about their habitat today.
I found my way here because I was just watching bird in my yard pecking my lawn and scoring worms and grubs. t was such a beautiful bird, so I googled and ended up here. This is definitely the bird I saw. Tacoma, WA
Where I live in the open rangelands of New Mexico, the nighthawks fly around calling my name, "Pete!"
I see them every morning
Magnifique oiseau super technique bravo bienvenue sur ma chaine nature amicalement
They're so cute❤😊
My favourite bird
Thank you.
Send me pictures of your common barr or Checker Homing Pigeons send pictures and air freight for two pairs of small or medium homers, is, $60.00 dollars plus box
I have a rescued Eurasian magpie at home and she is very expressive through her crest (even if it's not cockatiel-like exaggerated). Birds really have a full range of emotions. You just need experience observing them
False Picture. Its a Suncuno Bird Not Cedar Waxwing Bird
I'm that guy who always tucked his tshirt into his jeans in highschool. Everyone else was doing it wrong.
I come for the voice; if I learn something (as I always do), all the better.
Thank you, that's very nice of you to say! I'm always trying to work on and improve my vocal recordings for these videos. ...and I'm glad you learn something too!
@allthingsbirdie Please, don't improve(?) your vocals out of all recognition; your voice is a soothing balm.🤤
To make them more expensive?🤔
Fascinating for sure!❤
I always noticed this but thought it was some locomotion thing like how we swing our arms. Interesting to know!
My bird feeders are frequented by all sorts of bird species, I even see Wood Peckers hanging down from the feeders. I know Sparrows are an invasive species here but they seem to do well with the other birds. Occasionally I see a Sharp Shinned or Coopers hawk either grabbing one from my feeder or chasing it down.
I rescued one 3 months ago she was wet through cold and hungry I made her well again and have tried 3 times to set her free and she/he will not leave she has slept on my lap from the day we got it.i do love her.
One solution is to try to increase the numbers of their predators, such as sparrow hawks. However, they will also go after native song birds.
So cool! I’m so glad you caught this rare moment on camera, I’ve never seen a squirrel carrying her baby before
These songs bring warmth and happiness and reawaken a deeper man. Thank you
They are in our area MEEP
All birds are beautiful, well except for one, pigeons. Interesting video, thx for sharing & feel free to have a nosy at some of my videos on Kiwi birds called Tuis, they don’t swim, but they’re beautiful birds 🙂
سبحان الله العظيم على التفاصيل الدقيقة في خلقها وكانت سبب قتل ابرهه الحبشي في سورة الفيل في القران الكريم.
Group seen on Lake Pattagansett, CT 12/14/24.
What a great video. Subscribed.
The common nighthawk is what started my love for birds. For years, I thought their sound was bats. When I began to learn about birding and used an app to identify it, I knew they were not so common. I felt so lucky to live in an area where I have heard them for so long. I got to see one up close as it rapidly flew past me. I felt such a strong emotion when I saw those beautiful wings and their white band. I love them so much and can't wait to see them again in the summer.
I ain't got a problem with these birds. Sparrows are great scavengers.
Thank you for this beautiful video. I moved to Southeast Idaho with my husband and children nearly 30 years ago, and I had a Steller's Blue Jay in my back yard for the first time. I was so excited to see it. As a child I lived in the mountains near Los Alamos New Mexico and have fond memories of them.
