Honestly the "Lots of babies" bits provided me with great comic relief. So much useful information was a bit overwhelming at first. Looking forward to the next one. Keep up the great work!
Bro breeding cherry shrimp is not as hard as I thought thanks for explaining everything, I went from 12 to over a hundred in a relatively short time. Prime Time thanks for directing me to the Wet Spot 👊👽✌💙
Great video. I mostly keep Tanganyikan cichlids & I had no clue Jason keeps that many Tangs as well. Shellies dig like crazy the best way to keep plants with them is to fix them on the rocks. I stick them inside of the holes and since the fish don’t use the rock the roots hold and attach to the rocks Thanks for putting out this video Shellies need more love, especially Callipterus!
I loved the info on shellies, i have similus in a 29 and i have 20 or so fish and all are doing great. I liked the info on the baby brine but ive been unsecessfull in raising brine..Thanks for the tour, you have a fish room thats awsome.
i'm writing for some advice, i absolutely adore your 'multi' shell dweller tanks and the fish, and i want to do a multi tank.. here's the thing, 2 months ago i changed out the dark gravel to light gravel(small - only 10 lbs in the tank), can i just leave the gravel or should i cover with this, add on to of gravel . i think gravel would be okay since they live where there's large rocks and shells, not sand.. what do you think? will arragonite cloud the water if i put the whole bag under water to pour over the gravel.. i plan on getting this to started feeding them and any fry.. baby brine shimp what else would you suggest? thank asap
A superb tank! I am envious of the tank size choice options in the US. If you wanted this aquarium in the UK, it would likely have to be a custom build.
The 50 Gallon Lowboy is still one of my favourite aquariums on all the channels I watch. I would love to do the same thing, but my water parameters won't allow it without drastically adjusting it. And I prefer not to alter my water. The flip side of that though is that iget to keep and breed beautiful and exciting soft water, low ph species.
great video!!!! Ive been looking into getting some multis. Do you think that a 10 gallon with 2 males and 4 females is okay??? I know its a little small but i don’t want to commit a 20+ gallon to shellys (especially since ive never had them before)
A 10 gallon will be fine for a while but you'll be needing to get rid of offspring in the future as it will eventually become overcrowded pretty fast or upgrade to a bigger tank later on. I started with 9 multifasciatus and have 40ish of them. It's only been a few months and they breed very easily. I keep them with guppys in a 55 gallon. The guppies have babies and the baby guppies swim down and get eaten which gives high protein diet to the shell dwellers to increase the desire to reproduce(similar to his use of baby brine shrimp) along with flake food.
I had no idea Puncs were uncommon. Pruess always seems to have a bunch. I have a pair of females with a alto compresscips in a 50 low boy now. Might see about being a male now and start breeding.
Well... Shell dwellers are great, but I came for the GUN SHOW!!! If I wear a Flip Aquatics T-shirt as well as Jason does, I will run the risk of making LOTS OF BABIES!!! Little known fact: The 2nd half of each GCCA meeting is held in the gym.
Great video but some of the facts are a bit wrong. I keep and breeding 15 of the 16 species of shell dwellers. Smallest tank you can breed in is a 20g long but best is 33long or 50low boy. Similis can be more aggressive then gold occeletus all depends on tank setup and surface agitation. caudopunctatus are still considered shell dwellers but will live in rocks or shells are more of an opportunistic inhabitants.
Ben Chalfin Great points my brother. I think it’s time someone does a video about your fish room. That would be great to show some of the cares species you breed and the kungweensis 🔥🔥🔥
JJ Cabin everything is crazy right now excepting our first child but once everything calms down I will do that. I have a open door all fish hobbyist are always welcome to come over anytime. Nothing better then a good bourbon and fish talk
I laughed till I felt sick when you rerun the dead fish in the tank. It was the look on his face. I have had that happen to me one second everything is running fine the just five minutes latter not only is there a dead fish right in the front of the tank bit it has been eaten to the point you do not recognize it. You stand there in misbelief.
In Sydney Australia it was a effort to find the Neolamprologus similis, but finally got my hands on them and love them. my colony has now bred several times so I will be looking to spread these little gems out for others to enjoy as much as i do. Anyone interested Details are in my name Great Video thanks
Thanks for stopping by!
Prime Time Aquatics how do you catch Multi Shellie’s! I have lots of juvies ready to go to store how do you catch them?
You should have dropped some flakes in for that skeleton fish.
Hey look, it's one of my favorite fish rooms! What an abundance of offspring ;)
You two are hilarious together! The way Rob tried to comfort Jason after seeing the skeleton was priceless.
I like the positive energy of this video more than the fish, lol. Keep it up this way

That's my favorite tank, that Lowboy is awesome!!
How does Jason vacuum the substrate in the shell-dweller tanks without upsetting the fish’s scapes and shells?
That was great. I am glad you went back.
Love you guys together, so funny!

Curious as to his method of catching the Multi's in order to sell them since he is using shells.
I would love to see this fishroom one day

I miss 2019 so much
GREAT VIDEO
I want to keep these in a 20 long.
Question
Aquaclear 30, Coarse sponge filter or dual sponge filter?
Peace ✌️
I can't quite figure it out, is there a lid on this tank?
Anyone know the lights he has on most of his tanks?
Also, is the only filtration on these Shellie tanks a sponge filter?
I’ve wanted shell dwellers for awhile now I just need to convince my parents to let me get another tank
Had a huge colony of brevis and lost all except 2 males. Want to get back into it with multis
Great info thanks. Any tips of catching the juvies? Mine keep darting into their shells as soon as the net comes need the tank
Still laughing about the fish “carcass”. Happens to the best of us 😂💕
Would this work for mbuna?

Thanks so much! And that stinks that there are better option in the UK. I love the 50 gallon low boy though. It's a great tank.
How about barbs and loaches?
Love the colab!
Jason do you DIY most of your tops? or do you buy them?
I love the color of that sand. Any chance you could tell me what brand that is?
Damn, awesome fishroom. :)
Great video.
hi again, would it be ok to put 1 or 2 Petricola Synodontis in my multi tank?
How do i keep the paramaters stable? I know for a low ph i can use wood but what can i use for keeping a higher ph?
@Prime Time Aquatics if you ever want to have a panel discussion this n shell dwellers I’d be more then happy to share my knowledge
Great video as always. What substrate are you using?

Brooooooo his fish room is too sick. I've got multis going crazy in a 40 breeder. 50 gallon low boy incoming for sure.
My eyes are always drawn to that low boy in all his vids.

The "Lotsa babies" joke... not that funny when overdone.
First
Meme's get old real quick when you over use them :)
Lots of babies wasnt that funny tbh
How do you let a dead fish stay in there that long 💀
