what size was your finished backdrop? how many packs of table cloths did you buy total? I want to try this out. you made it look less daunting. the time stamps were great too!
Thank you! Yes, exactly! and if the wind blows it's easier to see large gaps in the middle of the twine layers if you use the backdrop outdoors. The mesh fencing is the way to go! Thanks so much for watching and commenting Jack! 🙂
Thanks Dina!! 💕 This is by far my favorite method now too. Yes you do but, if you skip some rows/lines you can save time. I wanted mine to be really full so if the wind blowed you wouldn’t see any of the green mesh behind it at all, but you can still get the same effect skipping some areas to cut time. It’s best to start the project and do a little at a time or do it while watching a movie/listening to a podcast. So glad you enjoyed! 😊
@CathrynRobinson-vv1uo Thank you!!! It’s definitely a project you want to give yourself a good amount of time to complete. It took me about a day, but hindsight I could have definitely skipped a lot more holes to save time and it still would’ve looked good. It’s great if you have a day off and you just put on a movie and kind of zone out while doing it! 😊
Super cute! I was using Dollar Tree rug liners, but this looks wider and more durable! I do every other like or skip a couple lines to speed up the process.
Thank you! 💕💕 We’ll that was resourceful of you! But yes this mesh fencing is def the way to go. Especially if you have to transport or want to store and reuse. It’s more durable and still pretty inexpensive, plus you’ll have a lot of the roll left over even after a full backdrop like the one I did in the video. I recommend party city tablecloths over Dollar Tree too, just because they are thicker, less opaque and come in better colors in my opinion. Yes, skipping definitely holes and lines definitely cuts down the project time! Thanks so much for watching and sharing your thoughts!! 😊
@leonieamouranda5251 Hello it’s about 1 inch. I had a link posted originally but they’ve sold out. I believe I bought this one: www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-Green-Plastic-1-in-Mesh-3-1-3-ft-x-25-ft-Garden-Fence-Hardware-Cloth-889250EB12/206478200
I started at the bottom doing every hole and it was so time consuming and too full. About a quarter of the way up I started skipping holes. You can skip a lot and it still looks good 😊
@@BashBesties Thank you for your quick reply! I've got the fencing hung and some strips cut. I start on mine as soon as I put my almost 1-year-old to bed!
When I go to weave the strips through I just grab at different areas close to the halfway mark for some dimension. You can also trim them after if needed to what looks visually pleasing!
Hi Stacey! This would be so cute for a Bach!! Yes super easy you just unfold the tablecloth from its packaging lengthwise (don’t continue to open it up as if you were trying to cover the table width. Only undo the folds that they made to put in in the packaging if that makes sense.) You can always trim where you need to as well, just make sure the strips you cut are the same size width. I believe I did 2 in width cuts.
Love this! 🌈 We’re always trying to find sustainable party ideas. Is there a recommended way to store for use again? Any advice on how many times it can be reused? Thanks!
So happy to hear! I do the same and either keep it hung up somewhere or roll it up with the tassels inward and place it in a bag or more sustainably maybe a sheet 🥰
Hey! The backdrop stand you use isn't available any more! Is there another one you recommend that would hold something like this with a balloon garland? I can't figure out what to buy and thought you might know best. Thanks in advance!
Hi Nicki, oh no sorry to hear that. They do go out of stock occasionally. I did a post on my blog about my current backdrop recommendations with the links to each. Here’s the blog post link: misseventplanner.com/the-best-party-backdrop-stands-for-birthday-party-in-2022/
This is an awesome tutorial! Question-without the backdrop stand, do you have any other suggestions on how to hang it? We're making one for our graduation party, but I really don't want to spend that much on a stand I'll only use once. Have you hung it other ways?
Thank you! It’s light but also very strong. You can use nails already in the wall to hang it up or removable command hooks. You could use rope and tie it to a wall outdoors or tree depending on where you plan to place it. Or you can go for an inexpensive backdrop stand on Amazon in like the 30s range. You may be even able to tie it to a curtain rod or stairs handrail. It’s very versatile just depends on what areas you have at your disposal. 😊
How wide are the squares on the mesh fencing? I can’t find the one you linked I was going to order a diff one but wanted to make sure the squares weren’t too big
I believe the squares are about 2 inches wide! It’s better for it to be a little bigger than smaller. The smaller ones make it very difficult to put your fingers through to make the knots which makes the whole process take even longer.
All you have to do is make sure you don’t crinkle up the strips after you’ve cut them. Once you put the whole backdrop together the small creases from the tablecloth being folded are not that noticeable.😊
Hello, sorry for the late reply. The tallest knot is about a foot high I would say. Basically as high as each strip would be if you folded it in half. The strip should just hit the ground a bit to cover the bottom empty holes.k in the grid. Hope that made sense! 💕
Hi, I generally charge it as a rental, but I include the price it took for supplies and a portion of the time to make it since I can use it again 😊 Supplies are cheap it’s just time consuming!
Hello 🥰 I used about 2-3 per color. I believe this backdrop was 7x7 or 8x8. If you skip holes/lines you won’t need as many tablecloths. I just wanted to make sure if the wind blew there was absolutely no gaps
I keep them just in case I want to use it for another party and list them as available to rent for parties. If you use the grid that I recommended in this video; it’s super strong to store for later. Just roll up the backdrop and put it in a large trash bag.
Yes that length sounds about right. You only unfold it length wise not table width. Say you we’re going to take the tablecloth out of a pack and then lay it out on an actual table. If you unfolded it where the creases are across the longest length of a rectangular table then stopped, that’s as far as I open it up before cutting the strips.

Hello! I bought 2-3 in each color, there was 7 colors but I didn’t use a lot of them and I filled in pretty heavy. This backdrop was a 7x7 or 8x8 I believe. I’d probably recommend buying 2 of each color with this method.
This is amazing!! I plan on trying this, in my sons school colors for a backdrop for his graduation party in May
Thank you! If you plan to make it big Get started early and you can do a bit at a time every month, by May it’ll be all complete! 💕

That green mesh fencing was a great idea! When you use wire or twine it always sags in the middle. I like this uniform look much better! Nice job.

Such a useful idea! Will try this out!

This is amazing! I ll do it for my daughter 2nd bd
Thank you! That’s awesome, I hope you guys have a great party!!! 💕💕
Love this do you add a string to every hole?
Hi Ana, you can but don’t need to. It’s better to skip some! 😊
Sorry if you mentioned this already, but how many table clothes do you need to create something like this? Thanks and so cute!
I think I bought 14 (2 of each color), but didn't use them all and I definitely could have skipped some holes to use even less. 🙂
@@BashBesties Did you skip any holes at all? Or pretty much put one in every box?

@@BashBesties Thank you for your quick reply! I've got the fencing hung and some strips cut. I start on mine as soon as I put my almost 1-year-old to bed!
Hi, how do you get the varying heights in the strips? Do you cut them afterwards or stack them at different lengths while making the knots?
When I go to weave the strips through I just grab at different areas close to the halfway mark for some dimension. You can also trim them after if needed to what looks visually pleasing!

Making this for a bach :) can I ask-is the length of the strips just the length of the table cloth ?

i just stored mine for a future party tbh! i let it glide of the bar on the top to avoid cutting my tie wraps and it’s still intact after a year
So happy to hear! I do the same and either keep it hung up somewhere or roll it up with the tassels inward and place it in a bag or more sustainably maybe a sheet 🥰
Do you recommend the same method of one per hole or every othe hole for the hanging/ceiling garland
If I was using for the ceiling fringe, I’d definitely do every hole but if it’s the backdrop you definitely can skip a lot!
@@BashBesties thank you

Thanks! Gable boxes are here (amzn.to/3V8JOwa) and the stools are from IKEA! 😊

Yes!! It’s so light and easy to transport. I put a large bag around it and we folded it in half then took it to an event!

It’s an 8 by 10 I believe. I usually use it for max 7x7 backdrops. Link should be in the description box for exact product measurements though 😊

Hola cuantos manteles utilizaste para todo ?
Hola 1-2 para cada color. depende de que tan grande lo quieras

If you use the grid that I recommended in this video; it’s super strong to store for later. Just roll up the backdrop and put it in a large trash bag.
I’m confused on how you unfolded the tablecloth. I feel like my strips don’t look as long as yours? They’re about 55in long; does that seem right?
27ish inches when they’re folded (before being looped on the backdrop)
Yes that length sounds about right. You only unfold it length wise not table width.
Say you we’re going to take the tablecloth out of a pack and then lay it out on an actual table. If you unfolded it where the creases are across the longest length of a rectangular table then stopped, that’s as far as I open it up before cutting the strips.
Can you use ribbon?
Hello, If it was durable strong ribbon I suppose you could.
How long did this take you?
About a day off and on 😊
How many tableclothes did you end up using
I believe about 2 of each color 😊
Can you tell me how many tablecloths you used for this one?
I think I bought 14 (2 of each color), but didn't use them all and I definitely could have skipped some holes to use even less. 😊
About how many table clothes in each color did you buy?
I bought about 14 i think in total and didn’t use all of them, so 2 of each color.
the strips are 1.5 inches wide. How long is each one?
The length will be automatically cut for you once you follow the method and cut the width. It’s eezy peezy! 😊
How long are the straps.
The length of the strips would be the same as the width of the plastic tablecloth you buy. 😊
How big is your cutting mat?
I’d say it’s about 18 x 24 in
How much would you charge for this…?
Did you skip every other row?
How Big was this finished?
I believe I did a 7x7 and you should skip a lot of rows holes or it will take forever! 😊
Did you only use one roll of the garden fence?
Yes, not even close to the whole role was used. You should have a lot leftover. 😊
