I’m most likely moving to Washington state in four months and I’ve never lived by the ocean ever , I am super excited to go hunting for sea glass and other sea treasures

Thank you for these videos. I visit my son stationed in Oak Harbor and have only found small pieces along Deception Pass. Thanks for tips on those of us with limited mobility. Your videos inspire me to keep up the PT exercises to hike on this beautiful beach.

It is rewarding to explore a beach covered with rock beds. I was up at Deception Pass West Beach two weeks ago leading a 5th and 6th grade class on a field trip. We did find a few agate pieces (around 3 or 4) but my experience out on North Beach that leads out to glass beach has always been better. I would have probably have had a better hunt out at Deception Pass if I was able to focus on the rocks and not the students. So, I'm open to returning to do a better hunt. Just get out there and start hunting and you will see the physical results quite soon!

Tim! I am a fellow beachcomber and would like to tell you about a little unknown island here in the south Sound called Anderson Island. I have been combing these beaches for 30 years now and have a such collection of agate, jasper, petrified wood and sea glass, I have now started to use it as gravel in my front yard pathway! I invite you to check us out! We are located off of Steilacoom, it is a short 20 minute ferry ride over and you can start combing right off the ferry boat. Or you can drive to our local store, grab a map and check out 2 of the beautiful trails that lead to beach to do your combing! Hope to pass you one day while combing these lovely beaches here on A.I.!!
    Happy Combing to you!

Kymberly... sounds interesting. I'll have to make a journey down there. I'm in Port Orchard, so it shouldn't be too much of a drive. What beaches would you most recommend? The beach just off the ferry looks quite accessible but I was wondering about others also. I did look at the Island on Google Earth but it's somewhat hard to see where the best access locations might be. Thanks for the tip. Tim Blair

@@timblair3004 I suggest Andy's Marine Park. It's a beautiful 1/4 mile hike, with a well kept trail to the beach. I find mostly agate there.
Also, off of the ferry, heading east about 1/2 mile between the ferry dock and the Riviera Marina is also a favorite of mine. I find a mix of everything there.
People say the beaches have been so picked over over the years, that there is nothing left to be found but to a True beachcomber, there is no such thing. Enjoy!
      Peace, Love and Beachcombing!

I absolutely hate that point..lol walking poles or find a piece of driftwood really help to balance that rocky area. Just there yesterday found a ceramic foot from probably a small figurine and a very worn marble. And for beginners know the tide table for the day! Dont be on the beach with a tide higher than 6ft.

I thought glass beaches didn't allow removing the glass...it's against the law?

There is a restricted beach in California called "Glass Beach" that lies within MacKerricher State Park. Gathering sea glass is illegal there. The public beaches in Washington State allow beach combing and the collecting of sea glass.
