Wtf. Why is this the best video on the ashtray maze? I been scrubbing all of them to find the cleanest one to show someone, and they're all just people running against the walls and spamming TK. No intent to show the level off at all. Then this one starts with some 2003 Windows Movie Maker vibe and I'm about to write it off, and this guy is slow walking, getting the right angles of the room, using varied powers in a cinematic way, keeping the enemies in view... this is great stuff! Perfect showcase, be proud!
🤷♂️
I also did the new Alan Wakes musical but it's not as exciting as this lol
That's understandable
Doesn't the video skip the entire first verse though?
I have one :(
This Level made by Remedy is proof, that Video games are art, because this level along with this music...... art! pure art. As soon as Jesse said: "That was so awesome" I was like: "YEAH it was!"
Blackbohnster It was way fucking awesome. 😎😎😎
I actually said out loud that was awesome like 2 seconds before Jesse did. Mind blown.
Why control doesn't have part 2
@@gatticusfpv3174 I'm starting to notice we true gamers are gaining psi powers (is wish) I at least have noticed a higher perception in gamers though true gamers not most UA-cam let's players that play badly and need help on a piece they've played 20 times already unless they are faking it for interactivity in a way ?
A lot of people this games are the only reason I respect art either way they should be happy but no art had my attention before but I wasn't vary good or creative thing's have changed now though still land scapes are my weak point 🥺
I love that not only the Old Gods of Asgard are possibly parautilitarian artists but possibly the reincarnations of the actual old gods of asgard who also controlled the ashtray maze to help Jesse make it through without much hiss interruption because they inhabited the oldest house from a long time ago.
That is a very good way of looking at it.
Or The Old Gods of Asgard from Alan Wake
@@SabinaMona Kinda late but they really are the same band, in the AWE dlc a document says about them rehearsing in Bright Falls, and they get injured according to the God their names, Tor got struck by a lightning and Odin got cut in the right eye
@@Proto_Objey yes!
They're the Anderson brothers from Alan Wake. And some other dudes. But at least 2 of the members are known so yeah.
This is literally one of the best levels that I have played in any video game. Specially with earphones. I will never forget this level and that song, my God that song is so fitting for this level. Amazing bloody game. Just bloody brilliant. Bravo!
Totaly agree.
But what makes it so amazing? I haven't played Control yet, and to me it seems like any other encounter in the game. It seems that the only thing that people praise about it is the soundtrack, so if I were to take that away, would people still love it?
Genuine question
@@spidey5558it's basicly like SCP but well written
@@lorekeeper685 I meant specifically this level
@@spidey5558 this level is done so well
Also the other characters are praised too, I just don't want to give spoilers lol
Love this part
The whole game I was walking slowly, being afraid of enemies. And the building being beautiful and creepy at the same time, makes me feel like I am in a horror game
BUT
When I heard "Take Control" with guitar plays in the background, I just ran at full speed at everything.
Wish I can play this part again without overwrite my save.
@Khoa Nam I'm a year late here, but in case you never found out: you *can* replay it without restarting the game. One of the DLC adds two "arcade machines" that you can use to replay certain segments of the game, one of them being the Ashtray Maze.
Wish I could play this part again with the part being erased from my memory before. Very few moments are THIS fantastic. The first metal gear in metal gear rising is on par with this for example.
This was such a fantastic experience. Also, I exited the maze just as the song ended, and directly after, Jesse exclaimed "That was awesome!", which is the exact same sentence that went through my head.
The sound engineering here is on another level. There are subtle tricks used to make you think you are syncing with the song. But in reality, the song is syncing with your progress. Everything you hear, at each stage of the level, is carefully designed for you to hear a specific part of the track. As you make your way out of the maze, the song ends, just as it's intended to....every, single, time.
Congrats at being the first person I've watched on UA-cam who is actually competent during this sequence.
Really? THANKS I didn't know if I was lol
how can you be incompetent during this? I mean I know my strat of yeeting things and pierce isn't good but telekenisis just rips people apart so well
i thought i did pretty well during this sequence, but this was flawless.
You're timing fits the song so well I was starting wonder if it stayed on a small loop until you enter the next room.
I've already watched it 5 times. So damn good.
to be fair it's not easy to be competent in combat while handbanging. you're not seeing the enemies half the time (depending on how hard you headbang)
Came here after Musical scene from Alan Wake 2 - and Ashtray Maze is still the best! True masterpiece.
That's amazing. I can't believe this video is still gaining traction lol I made this like 4 years ago 😂
This chick is really good at navigation the infinite IKEA.
🤣
I mean, SPC and FBC ARE pretty similar in purpose, so that's not really surprising hahaahahah
@@Eduardomscarvalho SCP inspired the developers. Just beautifully weird stuff.
@@zacharyberridge7239 This is the most polite way I've seen someone correct anothers spelling props to u lol
@@chilimustard145 I didn't even notice the mistake!
And Poets of The Fall are the best!!!
Best band
Efforts are futile trying to convey the absolute baddassery of this segment. From the shifting psychedelic interior design, balanced enemy placement to the amazing work of musical art brought to perfection by its pacing throughout the level. Upon finishing, one only stops and stares blankly at the screen enveloped in a god-like state of invincibility and euphoria, trying to make sense of what just happened using the fragments of ones blown mind. Truly a masterpiece.
Quite the arteeest? Lol ❤
The music, level design.. this defines the excellence of Remedy... 🔥
Too bad 505 is fucking them with this Ultimate edition bs
I had heard about this song prior to playing the ashtray maze, but I didn't know what I was in for. Beautiful scene from an amazing game
This was easily one of the best video game levels I’ve ever played in a game. When Jesse put on those headphone’s I was not expecting this kind of music. Made everything next level.
This is hands down the most awsome moment in gaming, ever.
6:55 Got that right! Hell yes!
One of the best, most epic, and artistic moments in video game history, period, full stop! And I'm saying this after having played a particular level in Alan Wake 2, which is also on this level of genius.
The best sensation I ever feeled playing a video game... Soon after finished the maze, gone to YT searching more songs from Old Gods... And I discovered the great Poets of the Fall.
Awesome Band
I discovered Poets while i was playing Max Payne long time ago :)
And yes, they make great music.
One of the greatest videogame sequences un the history of gaming.
This is art
This was epic. I was bobbing my head the entire time while playing this sequence.
It's an even more amazing experience on the PlayStation 5
I’ve literally just done this mission for the first time. Best sequence ever in a video game.
And out of nowhere, one of the most awesome sequences in video game history.
every time i see those spheres, im like, "I don't care if there are 25 of those rocket launching, minigun toting, grenade tossing heavies, that healing shit is going down first"
This was the most A-fucking-Mazing part of the game so far. The kickass tune gets you so pumped up.
Still one of the best single player game finales that I've seen. It's so perfectly timed with the Gods of Asgard band's music, it's a work of art.
Just picked this up and beat it recently. Glad to see I'm not the only one that finds the starting pistol and the explosives the best combo.
This was absolutely my best favorite section in Control. It was beautifully well done and the song fits perfectly with the maze. (Plus I died a couple times in that section. But that didn't stop me from liking this awesome maze)
Poets Of The Fall. Sam Lakes always been in love with them.
Okay so I had this game for while and completely ignored it. Now with Alan Wake Remastered coming I found out that both games are connected and I feel the urge to play this. Just to hear these guys again ahhaha Awesome
Definitely a ride
This was awesome!
Maxed out Launch 1-hit kills even shielded enemies. Only heavies and bosses take few hits.
Game is a total breeze and fun to boot with maxed launch. You can tear large objects and kill multiple enemies, even heavy enemies with it.
Good to know. Been getting smashed on the last couple levels. Maze took a few tries & gave up on the post credit platform part. Died about 10 times on the 3rd platform to the invisible screamers. I went for mind control cause I wanted the red heal spheres but they die to fast & nothing follows into the next area. Launch is only half finished so need change it up.
One of the best game scenes ever.
This was my favorite level in Control and the song fits perfectly 😎🤘🏽💯
First lyric: TAKE.... CONTROL
Last lyric: I ....CONTROL
I've never played this game, but after watching this playthrough I must do so! You did very well with this maze. I hope I will be able to do it justice like you.
I was honestly having fun when I made this. Didn't see a method to perfection but I guess I did good becuase that's what I keep hearing lol
Did this today, awesome section. I had to laugh when that Bureau Alert came up, I had one as well and said aloud "I'm busy, go away!".
Just binged a bunch of runs of this. Yours syncs up the best and has the cleanest movement.
I've been hearing that alot.
One of the best experiences I've ever had playing videogames.
Remedy is so awesome and they pour so much heart and care into their games. They deserve to be up there among the legends like Valve and ID. Game industry needs more studios like this. And the fact they have been collaborating with Poets for decades to make their games even more memorable is just the icing on the cake.
For me, it was insane, ill never forget this level.
It's interesting to see how others play the game, I get into their faces a lot more with the shield.
Cette mission m'a tellement marquée...Un des plus bon moment de ma carrière de gamer..Merci Control !!!!!
When I found out the Arcade machine in the DLC let me play this again over and over I was over the damn moon
YOU ARE FUCKING WITH ME, NO WAY!
I tried this game on an off chance. OMG!!!!! Loved it. And I've listened to this song sooo many times. This game is amazing and I'm an a Assassin Creed Girl. One of the best games I've played
Truly an amazing journey.
This was the most phenomenal experience I ever had in gaming. I’m glad I invested in a big TV….now I want to try this on PS5.
Awesome was so happy to hear Remedy kept POTF! This sent chills down my spine...Ashtray maze is epic especially with that soundtrack!
veeery original totally loved it with walkman n headphones oldschool fking genius!!!!!
Good excuse for a cheesy rock song in an action sequence though.
Not only is this pretty easily the best part of Control, but it's a great example of how video games should be doing superpowers.
2:24 to 3:05 pure ecstasy
one of the best scenes on any game
The controls and mechanics was super refined. Flying super satisfying. Wish to have this in an open world game
The absolute coolest end game sequence by FAAAARRRR
Nostalgia ❤
I still can not get over how fluid this game looks.
You’ve always been the new you.
You want this to be true.
We stand around while you dream.
El mejor nivel del juego, espectacular :D
Love this game 💕😍
So this same band they use in game [ Old Gods of Asgard ] is also present in Alan Wake. Same universe??
Yeah
And Max Payne 2
There's actually a lot of overt references to Alan Wake in control:
Jesse recites a Thomas Zane poem in one of the audio logs,
A couple Alan wake objects show up as Altered Items, complete with a vision of Alan himself appearing and reading from a page
There's an AWE case file that specifically references the altered world event that occured in Bright Falls, Washington.
Probably more too, but those are the ones I know off the top of my head. It goes beyond the subtle reference with the band here, the game hard declares that its in the same universe as Alan Wake.
An aside fun fact: Alan Wake's American Nightmare, that came out 8 years ago, has a hidden message inside of one of the songs if you play it backwards that states: "It will happen again, in another town, a town called Ordinary". Which is of course a reference to Control despite the fact that control must have been nothing more than a vague idea in Remedy's head at the time.
Not to mention that Sarah Breaker from Alan Wake, her father Frank Breaker, is a former FBC agent.
@@Karragh where is a video about what you are taking?
Worth the entire game
this is so amazing
Great song
Man now I have to buy the game on my ps5 to replay this. God this was a great freaking game
Thanks for best timing run keeping action without pauses =)
I've been hearing alot of people say that. Do people really be that bad at this game?
If Higgs in Death Stranding 2 doesn't get a guitar solo scene on par with this, I'm gonna riot
your combat really sync with the music😍
Thanks
This song is a reference to the two old guys in the Clinic in Alan Wake who were part of a Heavy Metal band in the 70s called Old Gods of Asgard
Finaly some decent gameplay ;)
Best Gaming Sequence in History was in ALANWAKE ! That EPIC INSANE battle at the end of Chapter4 with PoetsOfTheFall background music :)
beautifully done my friend
I unlocked Multi-Launch just before this and had SO much fun pwning everyone.
one of the best part in game history
This level was a cherry on top of a big cake
Still the best what could happaened with gaming industry.
I wish the whole game was this epic!
That was awesome
I literally keep running in circles to the entrance fml
You need the headphones you're not at the right part of the game lol
I played this mission when my charge is fully upgraded. The action and damage were unreal.
This part is really cool
i was playing this level and my brother wondered why i was quiet. i merely paused, unplugged my headphones, and maxed out the volume. had an epic few minutes
The best moment in the game :')
i was watching this other guy do the ashtray sequence and not only did he launch objects way too soon and miss frequently, he kept trying to seize hiss charged and they kept blowing up on him. this was way more satisfying
Got this game recently and I'm so salty my headset decided to break prior to this. This section was godly, people at remedy killed it. So excited to get into alan wake.
I really liked the game and then i played this level and then I loved the game
I came here from Alan Wake and now I need to play it soooo bad ❤
Wish I could play this part again with the part being erased from my memory before. The whole game is creepy, you are always kinda on guard cause of that weird atmosphere. Then suddenly rock musics starts playing, fantasticly starting with "TAKE CONTROL" and you just suddenly know, you can go into beast mode with no regards to anything and just destroy everything in your path.
Very few moments are THIS fantastic. I'd count the first boss of Metal Gear Rising on the same level of beauty. You fight against a gigantic robot that shoots normal bullets at you, tries to stomp you and shoots a gigantic laser. Then suddenly the doc tells you to "stop the blade" and you just think "TF WHAT BLADE?", the robot hits you with a gigantic blade, you stop it with a quick time event and the music lyrics starts playing with "RULES OF NATUREEE". And that within the first minutes of the game :D
Half Life Alyx was kinda similar stunning at the start of the game. You start in the main menu, start a new game, the whole screen becomse white and when the whiteness fades away you are standing on a balkony/roof and look at a city with absolute stunning graphics. Not as a fantastic view as if you were on a highest skyscraper in the area, looking at a city like Tokyo, but still with the graphics of HL:A I was absolutely stunned for a few minutes. But on the other side, it's still nowhere near as great as the moments in MGR and Control
My favorite part of the whole game
Finnish Masterclass!!!!
damn! I kept dying because I wasted all my points on attacks instead of health
Finally, someone who knows the grip and charge are the best crowd clearers. 70% of my combat are in those two
Still a sucker for Spin and Pierce
@@Lubble- I got a +500 velocity on charge so it's pretty much a instant pierce lol. It explodes literally as I shot it
@@cameronsichmeller6759 ok
Hands down made the whole game worth playing!!
You know in hindsight this song spoils the plot so much
Yeah a little but sometimes they put the lyrics in reverse to mess with the harcore fans lol
@@chrnocrusader21 the reverse lyrics refer to a secret that wasn't even in the base game, but in the Darkness DLC. It's a dumb secret, but it is pretty cool that they had it planned from jump. Or maybe it was something they ran out of time to add into the base game. Either way,it has a wonderful notion of a connection behind the scenes, which just works with the game so well.
While I loved this game, this was my favorite part.
It became my best video game experiment at this moment 🤘
3:45, it is alike that a great starting for second round with the rhythm
Best stage in video game history. MOst underrated game in video game history too. Only thing it is really lacking is multi-player options.
Thanks!
I really wish we could play this mission again without overwriting the savefile
There's a arcade machine somewhere that lets you fight bosses again. This level is one of the choices, so you can play it as many times as you want.
best moment of all the game .
This moment in the game is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥. Fucking awesome. 😎😎😎😎
Congrats for being one of probably two people who didn't immediately shoot the five guards before the walls closed
Thanks lol
my only wish was that it was longer
