I can't wait to see the restoration video of that old German Violin. I have a late 1800's to early 1900's German violin that was my great-grandfather's, similar to that one. I played it in 5th-8th grade in the US. After not playing it for 20+ years I had it restored and have really enjoyed relearning playing the violin again. Can't wait to see how that one turns out and to hear it!
I'd love to see the restoration on that violin. All your choices and strategies when completely unaffected by the wishes or situation of the owner, because it's yours.
Great Video, Olaf. I can't wait to see what the old German violin looks and sounds like after restoration. FYI; I'm a 77 year old retired Evangelical Pastor and self taught luthier of 25 years. (Thanks to UA-cam and visiting other luthiers). I always enjoy your videos and have not only learned a lot by have received confirmation on many of the ways I do repairs. Thanks again for a great Video and have a blessed day "down yonder".
I just happened to find your video this morning as we just had a time change here in the US, and I woke up very early. I am a retired Luthier and living in Idaho and enjoyed watching you immensely! Your clamp jig for the lower bout cracks is ingenious!! Oh, how I struggled getting clamps in just the right position to glue lower bout cracks. 😢. Amazing 😮😅. Get it patented and sell it.😂 Thanks a lot for doing this video. I enjoyed watching, and I hope you continue sharing your knowledge and experiences ❤❤❤
Best video this year Olaf! Fun and interesting angles and excellent info about varnish and restoration. I’d love to see more full restorations, especially any details on retouching.
Great videos, as always Olaf. I know it's not necessarily practical with the bass bar bright issue. But I love to see the sound differences between a poor setup and a corrected setup. Wish we could have heard it before you reduced it. Keep at it, good sir!
Great video Olaf, thanks. I really enjoy these 'day in a life' style videos! Could you tell me where the name 'Pierre Lomont' comes from please? I have googled it but can't find any music related results. Keep up the great work!
Hello Mr, hope you are well, was trying to see if you had a video about how to deal with a crack which was repaired with White glue? Someone very clever had that idea on the one i am working, they had also glued the sound post and part of the table (including the crack. I am no professional luthier, but i managed to take it all apart without further damage to it, now there is only that crack on the table, with a line of white glue, which i need to figure out! I am thinking of building a matrix, to break it, however am dreading it will snap right next to it, which would lead me to have to make a match shape long strip to replace the damage and all but, i kind of was wondering if you would have a video in that area! Good day.
I would really like to see a whole video on setting up violin and Repair . I guess it was thrown away in the garbage. Enjoy your videoing your riding your bicycle
originally i wanted to make guitars but something about violins just appeals to me more, i think its because it feels natural using basic tools rather than big machines and synthetic finishes...
How do you tell your clients’ violins apart when they are in your workshop? I don’t see any tags or other identifying labels. Do you just remember who they all belong to?
Something like the string height being so far off but so close to an exam, would you go head and change that or just leave it as to not change the feel of the instrument when the student doesn't have time to relearn the feel?
I'd love to see a restoration video(s) on that German Violin. 👍👍
I definately want to see the restoration.
So so so super cool 😮👍👍👍👍🤙🏼👋

I'm so excited to see how the German violin restoration turns out!
The Pierre Lomont violin is really beautiful in terms of color. Just... ahhhh amazing🤩
You can never have too many clamps. As evidenced here. Lol. Whatever works in a pinch!
I really enjoy these day in a life videos.
I’d love to see a video about you repairing the old German violin that was left in the rubbish bin
Yeah, the Piere Lomont master Violin is a great instrument, I love mine.
Amazing video, love watching the master at work! Would love to see more cello stuff in the future if possible 😊
Bravo, Olaf. Thanks for sharing your thought process, your day..

This was great to watch, thank you!
Thank you, Olaf. Always love seeing the small
details, of what you do, like the tail gut adjustment
and the nut slot adjustments. 😷✌🖖
I love these days in you shop videos. Also a restauration video will be much appreciated.
Very interesting thanks Olaf 😊
enjoyed every minute
How absolutely wonderful this video. It's always a treat to Olaf's work. It's craftsmanship at it's finest.
What I would give to have you reset, clean and polish my cello. Wow
So you take something that looks like an instrument and transform it into one. That's awesome.

I've gotten a lot better at changing strings after watching how you do it and then copying your procedure.
💗 a NEW video in the works! 🎉
Restorationville!

I would love to see a full video on the curbside German violin.

Evah Pirazzi on a cheap student instrument?

Whenever I drive past that bridge I think, "kora." But I'm weird like that.
Wierd seeing you driving on the "wrong" sode of the road. Would
like to see more vids of brisbane.
