- Science Behind Jesse Pinkman's Bathtub? (This Was My AP Chemistry Final Project)
This was for my AP Chemistry class. I hope I get an A. (Subscribe and stuff)
MY TEACHER MY FINALLY GRADED, SECURED THE A
Insane W
Keep this up and you'll secure an A in life too
W
Good man yourself 👍
dude it's june why didnt you get a grade weeks ago
I was in AP Chem this year and we asked our teacher if she’s ever watched it.
She went “It’s super easy to make it. I can probably make it. I won’t tell you how to make it or this high school would lose the only teacher that’s ever got a shot at raising those Chem AP test scores (true, great teacher).”
Hahahaha that’s awesome!! I have a friend in New Mexico who took AP Chem at the high school they used in the show, and the teacher banned talking about Breaking Bad 💀💀
@@groovymanliveLMFAO WHAT
One of my college profs went into FAR too much detail about what they got wrong and right in Breaking Bad
It's actually really hard for the average person, you need to be a good chemist. Key pre-cursors are banned so there's a lot of synthesis to make them.
Bro just grow pot, it's easy, cheap, fun and at the end you've got pot instead of fucking meth
The look of realization from Walt gets me everytime
Walt has such funny reactions to Jesse’s shenanigans 😂😂
"...Oh god.."😟
He returned to Hal for a second.
@@alexmark6580😂
Funny part is they're later shown to actually have a plastic kiddie pool in which they're washing off, which I believe they could've very well used to hold the acid, and it just never occured to them
bravo bince
@@groovymanlive vrabo vince
Jessie mentions in a later episode they dissolved krazy 8 so they probably did end up using those
Vravo Bince
remember that not all plastics are suitable for dissolving bodies
UA-cam randomly recommended this to me, was not disappointed. I don’t know anything about chemistry but this looks legit. Hope you get that A.
He did :)
too late man i need a new bathtub
this is the moment groovyman got an A in their AP Chemistry class
Truly peak cinema
I was 16 when I watched this and genuinely wondered why Jesse didn't just get some polyethylene plastic sheet. They sell it as the heavy duty stuff for painting and what not. He could have just lined his tub with a sheet of plastic 😂🤷🏻♀️
All I’ll say is this, Jesse Pinkman is not the sharpest bulb in the drawer…
@@groovymanliveHe ain’t the smartest tool in the shed
I would just keep the sheet and the remains in my bathtub for the rest of time. Unique decor piece, y’know?
@@LWLProductions dilute it with water and run it down the city sewer.
@@Icee47he was looking kinda dumb with his finger and his thumb on the shape of an L on his forehead
Thank you groovyman, recently I've found myself in the very relatable situation of needing to dissolve a body using hydrofluoric acid due to my actions and recently creating a drug empire and was hoping for some advice. Glad you got that A bud
Happy to be of assistance 🫡
where you selling? I need a dose
I would recommend you switch to something like highly concentrated Sodium Hydroxide. It is way easier to handle and dissolves bodies just as well if not better.
i recommend using piranha solution (a mixture of sulfuric acid and hydrogen peroxide usually in the ratio of 3:1 sulfuric acid to hydrogen peroxide) to dissolve your bodies as it reacts really well to organic material due to its carbon

The writers of Breaking Bad really did their homework for a lot of things, and this shows it. I work in the Durable Medical Equipment division of a large hospital chain and one of the most common setups I do is home oxygen. The fact Hector is not wearing an oxygen mask like so many movies and TV shows do, means he's on a liter flow of oxygen that is less than 6lpm. The reason for this is if was using a mask instead of a nasal cannula like he is seen wearing, his character was on a liter flow that was low enough that could allow him to use an oxygen tank outside (as shown in almost all shots in Better Call Saul) that the oxygen coming out of the tank would not displace the carbon dioxide he's exhaling fast enough and would ultimately lead to hypoxia and kill him. An E tank at 2000psi at 6lpm would barely last 90 minutes and that isn't feasible for someone who is running a drug empire from a wheelchair. Speaking of wheelchairs they also use the correct branded wheelchairs that would be issued to a patient that gets a DME request with wheelchairs from Invacare.
Like seriously, they did their homework
As someone who is doing highschool chemistry, I understood enough of this to get by yet didn’t understand the right amount so it was still entertaining. The perfect balance of semi confused.
You’ll get there, don’t worry 😁
Hope you aced the test, what a cool way to show chemistry through media to further draw upon how it works. I could think of Fight Club's chemical scene in that realm
Haha thanks, I hope I pass too. It’s fun to see sound science in movie and TV, like in BB or Fight Club
Don’t use a bathtub…
I’ll be sure to keep that in mind
btw, its soo interesting that you chose this as your topic because I have also wondered about the chemistry behind this as well... why materials like teflon; polyethylene and neoprene are resistant to hydroflouric acid? I remember doing a descriptive writing assignment in one of my introductory chem courses.. so I am glad you're addressing this topic
Polyethylene is explained in the vid, and as for neoprene, it’s the same as PE, but 1 H atom is instead a Cl atom. Cl is in the same group as F, and only one period below, meaning it’s *almost* as electronegative. So it’s barely different from PE, and then teflon is already a fluoride so it wouldn’t react. This video was really fun to make lol
@@groovymanlive wow, thanks for replying to my comment. I think the focal point of my writing assignment back in my introductory chem course was on teflon but that was a while back.
I appreciate you explaining and clarifying it here. It certainly helps.
@@Eswarramesh2428 Happy to be of help, and I'm happy you enjoy :)
You guys got to melt bodies in nathtubs?! Your guys' chemistry class is awesome. Our chemistry class only had us look at sperm under a microscope. Our old science teacher was a wierdo. She was named after a coffee brand.
Ahh, good ‘ol Mrs. The Best Part of Waking Up is Folgers in Your Cup
...whose sperm? 😰
Mrs.Folgers gets around.
who provided the sperm 💀
whos was it
This is way too good to be a school project this is really well explained, and engaging to watch good job!
Good on you for getting an A and for delivering such an great analysis no matter if it was an AP Chem Final. You got a new sub
i found this while taking a break from chemistry homework and was not disappointed. i am in week 3 of a college class that's an intro to orgo, gen chem, and bio chem (and its an 8 week class so its a ton of info everyday) and loved how i understood what was going on! super simple explanation for those who are even just starting chemistry! you deserved the A!
Very well explained, congrats on that A!
I can tell this channel is going places, glad to be here early on. 🔥
Love this, bringing back nightmares from when I had AP chem
much love from another small creator and chem student, love the way you bring the story and lesson along at the same time
I would really love to see more of that kinda video
Great editing, script, narration, audio, all the information, and the whole video in itself
I wanna make more eventually, but I’m moving over the summer and won’t have my PC with me to record new stuff (everything I plan on making this summer is pre-recorded)
@@groovymanlive Alright, then we will have to wait then :D
Being a highschool chemistry student and understanding all of it terrifies me
I can't imagine the conversation about "so can I explain hydroflouric acid using an example from breaking bad where a human is dissolved?"
Yeah I had to make sure with my teacher. One of the assignment options was analyzing a scene from film/TV and I had to ask my teacher a couple times if I could do ANY scene and she was definitely a little reluctant 💀💀
@@groovymanlivebro there's no way that 75% of the projects weren't breaking bad
I was the only one 😩😩😩
Might be a school project but I found it as entertaining as the output of multi-million subscribers channels. Topic isn’t super deep since Walt kind of explains it himself(sans the mention of SiO2 by name) but im definitely subscribing in case you want to pursue this UA-cam thing with more videos.
I think its funny that we had the same idea with uploading our Final projects to our yt channels LMAO
W
Poggg
This is one of the most interesting UA-cam videos I have ever seen, Great job dude and congrats on the A!!
this better get an A, great job dude!!
This is actually well-explained, ngl good for you for having an A
Dude im going to sub you deserve more hope you make more videos like this
You deserved that A man. Great video!
this has taught me more than my chemistry class ever did
It's crazy to think that's they went that far in the second episode! That show was so good lol
you should make more videos like this even if not a school project this was a very great video that i was schocked to look at your sub count and find out you dont have more than 50k, you ahve potential man
Brooo this means so much to me, and it also makes me so sad because I won't have my computer with me over the summer to record any audio or video(all the stuff I'll be releasing has already been recorded), which means I won't be able to make anything in this style for at least a couple months. But I do think I will make more like this once I can, thank you.
@@groovymanlive well i wish you the best and i hope you get the chance to make the content you love to make, good luck :D
Thanks for making me remember these words from my OWN AP Chem class, Groovyman and YT Algorithm, very cool
This video got on my recommended and this is ART.
Yo this video is fire 🔥 fr
Also I’m dreading the release of the AP scores…
I just want them to drop so I can be done thinking about them
Man, I wished my Chemistry class had projects as interesting as this...
Loved this thx for sharing
good to know, really needed that right now.
"many memorable scenes" over the Skyler White yo footage, very nice. Great vid, congrats on the A!
Yesssss you're the first person to notice that!!! So glad that detail was finally seen 😂
I wouldn't mind animating this someday, maybe yet another post-college project.
Congrats on the A, good video.
Make this a series, showing the chemistry behind the show (or smth like that)
I would love to, but I’m currently in the process of moving, so creating new content is hard (I have some stuff pre-recorded that I plan on editing), but I definitely want to make more videos like this once I’m set up at my new house in a month or two
I am amazed that our chemistry teacher not only had us watch this episode of breaking bad, but linked your video as a part of the explanation behind the chemistry of this event
This is amazing bro 😂
Thanks this has been a big help now i know what to do
Ofc ofc 🫡
Yay, I am studying for my big exam. I understood it all very good. I am proud of myself, but also of you. This video was great and a massive W 😂🎉
Glad you got the A! Well deserved
the fact that jessie and todd from Bojack horseman is played by the same person is just wild
When I first watched that show it took me like 2 seasons to not just think “Jesse Pinkman Jesse Pinkman Jesse Pinkman” any time Todd said something
this is an awesome video, straight to the point and everything explained as clearly as possible. perfect
nice video, good job :)
I’m taking AP Chem 2 for my Junior science credit in high school and am excited as fuck to dive into how shit like this works. I understood over half of the video already from my Chem 1 knowledge and was surprised at how much sense everything here made to me. Anyways, cool video and I love chemistry shit.
Amazing video!
I learned something, good video!
great tutorial, thanks 👍
😳
W for getting the A. Fun little video to watch.
Congrats for getting A+
, in our High school I got 20/20 for my chemistry project
(and it was theoretical chemistry)
definitely deserves an A :)
Here’s hoping
The presentation is insane. Love the occasional jokes
My mans applied himself, right on!
ive always been curious about this actually , i took ap chem too
Great Video! A was deserved
I only have a basic knowledge of Chemistry but I still managed to understand everything here yet still felt as if it was out of my league.
Great video ngl.
Yessssss glad it’s understandable
lol i didnt get a final project in AP chemistry. after the AP exam we all voted on what we wanted to do for the remaining month and most people wanted to do a unit on O-Chem. I wanted to do a final project but whatever. Anyway, great video, glad you got the A.
Big W for this man and an A
GREAT JOB
Thanks for the tip
Incredible.
Good stuff
Good stuff!
im glad i watched this video before taking care of my problems
could have ended bad
That TL:DR, glorious
I know this was part of a class, but I would love to hear you break down other scenes, like the mercury fulminate scene.
Man that scene is wack
Got it got it. That helps a ton.
Why was this recommended to me? I dunno, but nice project, glad u got the A.
Congrats on the A
If Jesse just let him cook there would be no hole in the floor
The only justification Jesse had for not listening to Walter was "we have a good tub at home" when in reality the plastic tub had to have cost 3-5$ at the most
@@t.mountt844 fact
Very well made video
Thanks, I try 😁
"i hope i get an A"
boy you deserve an A+
i learned so much more in 5 minutes than an entire year of school
more like this, this is the type of stuff to watch at 3am, you will get a ton of views
Once I’m done moving and can record new content, I for sure want to make more stuff like this 😁😁
I learned more chemistry from this than any of my classes which really proves how shit the education system is
LMAO, depends on the school and which classes ig
Be honest, you probably just didn't feel like paying attention 😂
@@jamnnjelly3102 not my fault the teachers don’t make their subjects more exciting lmao
@@earnirplaygames9172that's probably the best comeback that you could've given
Thanks. I'll keep this in mind next time I need to get rid of a body quickly.
Of course, of course, I gotchu
What did your teacher say/think about the whole project? I’m curious to hear their comments on it as a fellow chemistry enthusiast.
She described it as “entertaining” which is a win for me
I loved this , great video. What grade did you get for this project ?
It unfortunately hasn’t been graded yet. We present to the class next Friday, so hopefully it will be graded by or on Jun 9
Nice video, my ap chem teacher made us write up a lab report for our final💀
Broooo sorry to hear that
also, what editing software did you use? I like your editing
Davinci Resolve, it’s free and super powerful. It’s a biiiit resource-heavy, but any decent computer should run it just fine
Your channel is based bro. Also, great video... idk what grade you got but if I was your teacher, I'd give you an A+
Dude I’m glad you enjoyed. Unfortunately my teacher still hasn’t graded it yet 😩
you better have gotten an A+ for this
I did 😎😎

and in totally not speaking from experience advice, sodium hydroxide is much better for getting rid of bodies as it's very cheap doesn't react with as many materials
Best Chemistry Project Ever!
wow you actually paid attention in class, I could never remember anything for more than 2 weeks
Good job
I always wondered if this was true or not. Thank you
Great advice! Can’t wait-ermmm uhh what?😅

I actually work with 49% hydruofloric acid, as a scientific glassblower, to clean the wuartz glass before we work it. Ive seen the burns it causes, amd i never enter tbat room without completely dressing up in safety gear, and rinsong the shut out of everything 😅

Honestly I consider this blown up already, it’s the most viewed on my channel
this is why im a physics student. (this was great)
Physics = 🐐 (I also happen to be terrible at physics)
"luxury of being non-polar"
Man that got me
I took ap chem this past year, half of the year our teacher kept his beard like Heisenberg 😂very fun class as well
