The greatness of gurudev is that he practiced what he preached. In the early 1950s when he was in Madras for his second yagna, he was living in my grandfather's house (we are related both through my mother and father). He never forgot the hospitality shown to him and always made it a point to visit my grandpa after he had wound up his law practice and moved to Palakkad. An example of his humor: When my grandpa was in his late 90s and gurudev was visiting him, my grandpa complained to him that his sight, hearing etc were failing. Gurudev responded to him that given the state of this world, he was better off not seeing and hearing anything!!

What a great spiritual master. The children who were fortunate listening this story ,would have really become very good human beings,later in life. A simple story with a great moral behind it. But for swami Chinmayananda , our hindu religion and vedic tradition would have been accepted by the western world.
Those who got his blessings were indeed lucky.. Sometimes I weep in secrecy, longing for the day i'd meet my teacher. Those with realized masters to guide them are indeed very lucky!!

It's not a mantra (as in famous mantras like Gayatri etc.); It is a Hindi song encouraging to always chant Ram's (God's) name during the course of your daily activities. It has 4 stanzas
1) whether you are eating, drinking or sleeping, Say Ram (or think Ram)
2) Whether you are writing, reading or playing, Say Ram
3) Whether you are standing up, sitting down or walking, Say Ram
4) Whether you are smiling, laughing or on the verge of death, Say Ram.

If we observe carefully, the rat resembles people, the man praying is guru, the bird, cat,dog are sansara, people always run for the guru 😂, guru helps them, people then go back with another big problem problem..
