Sackboy has since been nerfed and is no longer as powerful as he was when this video was recorded. He's still a decent character, but he's no longer the no-brainer he used to be.
He needed the nerfs more than Kratos for the simple reason that Sackboy's level three guaranteed eight or nine kills in a free-for-all. He was unquestionably the best character for ranked matches because of his meter gain and low AP super threshold. Kratos may have some lingering issues, but his level three is nowhere near as good as Sackboy's, and he can't get there as easily.
It's been awhile since I last saw this video. You are right about Sackboy, though anyone should never lose hope. I use Toro, even if his Oni was nerfed I find other ways to make combos and such. I use his other forms equally as much as any other. I just don't like how they nerfed him even though he is already weak enough. I don't need his Divekick but It would be good for one level one. It's not the player's fault anyways for falling into the kick. Good matches as well.

You have to invite someone to your party before you search for opponents.
