- The tunes of a true 'Tumbi' (also known as an 'Ektara') can leave the audience mesmerized. Yes, here's Anmol Gagan Maan who feels energetic while playing a 'Tumbi'. Sharing notes with us, she claimed that she is the only female 'Tumbi' player in the world. Notably, the 'Tumbi' is a folk instrument made of a wooden stick attached to a wooden head or gourd, and has a single metallic string running its length. This 23-year old young student of BA-IInd year shared some of her chenille-packed moments with us. Grateful to her guru Ustad Mundri Jee, she is now set to launch her new Punjabi folk album. She has also won Miss World Punjaban, Mohali, in 2013. She is also writing a book, 'How To Be Real Human'. Her parents are proud of the fact that their daughter is carrying forward the legacy of a folk instrument. Interestingly, at the age of 16 years Anmol won the World Folk Dance Competition in England and Russia. Studying in MCM DAV, Chandigarh, Anmol's aim in life is to promote real Punjabi culture through music.
