Very very close but, the 2nd pedal in chain always accepts a buffered signal when the 1st one is in bypass mode. So there are 2 buffers in series in the signal chain. Using an A/B box, you only use one buffer on each input, which IMHO results to a fairer comparison.
Bacana, continue postando!
did you record this with two microphones? sounds like there's some phase cancellation. btw great sounds from the two pedals, i'd use them both any day.
I think the guy's amp makes them both sound great. The beat up one certainly has a bit smoother tone (could also be due to components aging, as well as part differences in both models). The newer one is a bit edgier. I'd go with either one. There is a simple mod that removes the diodes in the D4 and D5 positions, improves high end response and adds extra output, but lowers gain slightly... not sure I want to do that if I bought a newer one, but look into that if you have a Taiwan built box. Or even a Japanese one...
It's pretty close, the Japanese version sounds a bit bigger. But nothing an amp cannot compensate if you have the Taiwanese version. But the reason I let go of my DS-1 is because of its low headroom. You almost have to crank the level to get unity gain.
Japan Win , pleasent mids litle lless drive but very clear sound with better articulation than Mit. Very open sound like a Ritchie Blackmoore. Mit version is not bad but less musical and less response and dynamic. Hard to control.. Mij have right tone.
Depending on when the Taiwan pedal was made, it could be better. I have just received a black label Taiwan pedal that sounds good if not better than the mij.
very, very close, would be hard to tell blind. I felt like the vintage one was just a hair fatter in the low end. I like that. If you can find one, good for you. The main benefit to me would be the nostalgia and vibe, along with the slightly different tone.
If you like more of a fuzzy bassy distortion go with Taiwan. But if you want less fuzz and more of a vintage tube screamer type of sound the Japanese is better. And ive got 2 ds-1,s both MIJ(83-86)and they sound completely different even though they got the same chip inside. So you just need to find a good one they are all different.
difference is like between modes on DS - 2 . .Japan DS-1 is like turbo mode of DS - 2 with a more hard and bright middle tones. Regular mode sounds like DS - 1 Taiwan with a soft low. Bypass is bad everywere :( it eats highs. Thats why i don't use Boss.

You are right!
audioware1 An A/B switch would solve that issue I suppose.
True that

both pedals are good choise
Is the left DS-1 Japanese or Taiwanese?
its always the same for me
A diferença é bem sútil.
The earlier ds-1s from Taiwan are exactly the same. If not better because they use better caps. But only a small percentage exsist.
I think japen is more smooth!!
I like that
right
Yes, the notes ring out a tad cleaner
ds 1 Taiwan sound slightly brighter. Very good demo
If you want to brag and be a cork sniffer, then the Japanese DS-1 sounds better, but otherwise they both sound the same.
I have a Japanese model that doesn't seem to sound good so I just ordered a mod kit.
no diference
DADY MAXTER Haha..they sound like to completely different pedals.
Japan is a little brighter with this set up. However, may try A/B testing.

Why change it with your hand. It's a stompbox.
Same reason why you dont actually stomp on them rather step on them lol
Japan are sound mos bright, the taiwan more dakness i prefer taiwan
Japan in slightly brigter then taiwan but not a big difference. Both playable

Which of the two do you prefer?
Which one is the Taiwanese? Lolol
Need mic when you want to do some comparison between this both pedal but im prefer Japan. more classic original sound.
Japan rocks🤘🏻
Like day and night. The Japanese sounds way better even though it’s dialed in”wrong”.
Hey people, You really think that the japanese one deserves to be paid 100bucks more than the taiwan? Well...
O NIcolas tem mal de parkinson? kkk
no difference ty fo dat video.
Japão é mais velho 😂😂😂
the same
No diff to my ears. I just bought me a stocker to replace the fat Keeley I have. Funny that hey
I prefer taiwan
Negligible difference to my ears. Should have done a blind comparison, people can be biased by what they think SHOULD be better

taiwan
Taiwan sounds a hair better
Taiwan number one 😆😆😆
I prefer the made in taiwan lol...
Taiwan.-
The same....😐
La misma wea...
tudo igual
Taiwan more clunk to it.
Taiwán better
Horribe
Taiwan is.better
hard to hear but the japan ds-1 is more open and breathing.
Both suck. Sold my japanese one for $20. My opinion
You could have made $100 bucks lol
