If only there were a metal hold-down built right into the machine so that you wouldn’t need four hands to hold the piece of wood as you try being the hollow mortising bit back up…🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
This was painful to watch. 3 grown men who couldn't figure out how to operate this remarkably simple, yet capable, machine. I believe if I was that dumb and unskilled, I sure wouldn't post it on UA-cam. lol
I don't know why he posted this, it is totally ridiculous. He should have at least practiced this before he shot the video. Everything about what he showed was rubbish.
I just picked one of these up for a good deal. Then I'm watching this video and thinking wtf! Then I read the comments and realize my initial thought on this video was spot on. Dude is a bit clueless.
Well, no one was hurt during the filming of this video so there's always that. It was almost like watching the old "Wild Kingdom by Mutual of Omaha". "While Jim tries to subdue the mountain lion by rubbing his belly while wearing a porkchop necklace, I'll stay here and talk to you about Mutual of Omaha's accidental death and dismemberment coverage". "Whoops! No Jim, he doesn't like it when you touch those!"
Appreciate the comment, this is a machine that My buddy has had for years. He couldn’t stand it he asked me if I wanted to have it. Are used to try to use one of these when I was in high school. After this video it ended up in a garage sale that we sold for about 30 bucks. Someone else’s turn to see if they can get it to work. Glad you at least found the video somewhat entertaining. Enjoy!
I had the Delta mortise machine. Had to return it and exchanged for a Jet model. The problem with the Chinese made Delta, was the cast iron frame was slightly twisted (bad casting). Store said that this has been happening a lot
I've had mine for 5+ years and the only negative thing I can day about it is that the chisels could've been a little sharper out of the box,but you'll have to learn how to sharpen them anyway, soooooo. Good machine, high quality, fairly simple
Sir, you need some basic training on how to use this machine, this mortise machine is great, I have one that I use very often You don't have the bit placed up in the holder right. the 2 prongs that stick out are used to strip the bit out from the hole.
You’re not even set up right and using the stop to hold your material down as you remove the chisel bit. You also need to alway plane the chisel against your work piece while it’s against your fence so you’re square. You made it all so much more difficult than it’s supposed to be.
Do you see the crows foot above your work piece that’s to remove the bit but still remain loose enough to slide your work piece. Then you have to space your cuts so you just come back and clean out the bridges afterwards
adding the wax was the only useful part of this video. if you're having trouble removing the chisel from the wood, i don't know, maybe lower the material clamp. Maybe wood working isn't your "thing".
Don't listen to these jerks. They have low self esteem crappy lives, and it makes them feel good to find people they think are more ignorant than they are. I can tell you're a awesome young man with a great future! That is if it aint the end of the world, lol! Great video, and when you learn a new tool, it takes some time.
Could not watch more than the first 5 minutes of this anxiety producing video. You are missing the essential woodworking caveat: “One must be smarter than one’s tool”, Grasshopper. Either that or you purposely are acting the fool to bash a competitor. Yeah, that does happen.
I've never seen any of your videos before, so I do not understand your skill level. With that said, it appears you do not have the basic ability to operate a drill chuck. So, that really impacts my views on everything else you do.
Life of an Xbox. I understand your thoughts, but I really only have one question. Have you used this exact machine before. If you have and it works for you I am in total agreement. I understand about the clamp but I’ve tried using this machine every which way. As you can see in the background there’s plenty of machinery That we maintain and work with. Everyone Who has tried this Machine can’t stand it. I gave it to another person to let him take a shake at it. I’m glad it’s out of our shop.
Honesty, the only quirk is you. Read the instructions.

Exactly. Him trying to get the bit out of the wood and not using the provided hold downs that are specifically made for that reason.
I don't know why he posted this, it is totally ridiculous.

I’m sorry bro. That was painful to watch.
It takes a single person who knows how to use basic tools about 30 seconds to change a bit.
Dude!....Read the instructions. Your hold down needs to be against the workpiece.
I think you should find another hobby before you loose your finger.

LOL, well done!
Buhahahahahahahahahahahaha You win
Epic video! If you end up getting your driver's license, you should do a video on that.

This made me literally laugh out loud and woke my boyfriend up from his nap 🤣
I knew they'd be funny comments. Made my day.
Hahaha this guy is an idiot 😂😂

Next up, “this fork is no good for eating soup!”
Jumpin' jaheesus! I've owned one of these for 20+ years and it still works perfectly. Maybe you should try reading the instructions.
Surprised you could figure out how to film this
I'm looking at Delta mortisers and this was actually helpful. Thanks guys.

All new meaning to the title, “Dumb and Dumber.” Geeeeez!!!!
If this was an “As seen on TV” parody, it wasn’t funny.

It's probably best if you leave your dad's tools alone
This was clickbait. Should have been titled
" i do not know how to use a mortiser, can someone please help me?"
Thanks
I feel bad for Delta. Their equipment works well. Too bad idiots make them look bad.
Square it against the front edge of your cut piece
I heard the word wow a couple of times in the video, I total agree WOW!

Have been injured yet? How many times?
I own a Delta mortising machine. It’s not difficult to use.
That video however was extremely hard to watch.
Unbelievable. The manual tells how to accomplish all of these actions. This is shop humor???
Jesus wept. Why do folk 'demonstrate' without knowing what they're doing?
You clearly have no idea what your doing
This is painful to watch

So is this video a how to "not" use this machine lol
I don't unplug my tools to change bits or blades because I'm not an idiot.
I would remove this video to save yourself
WOW so many mistakes made right from the git go.
Notice the big fucking clamp on both sides of the bit...One guess what that's for.
This is the product of an xbox life.

@@livefree6878 Rob Cosman uses the same machine

so sad that I watched this , total amateurs
Why in the world do you post your failures to the the web?!!
Very, very poor demo . . .
