- It’s time for our 2019 Regal XO to go to the boatyard for some new bottom paint. We found a local marina that will affordably do the work for us rather than traveling all the way to a do it yourself boat yard.
During the trip, we show you how we operate the power tower radar arch on the Regal and see some sights along the way like Monarca’s waterfront restaurant that is a good dock and dine, the new Slip away food truck park and also Cruisin’ Tikis Cape Coral.
Love the videos. Walkers is a block away from our house! Great boating area!
Air bubbles in the water. Reminds me of a Dangerous Catch episode with Captain Phil. Thanks for sharing the boat yard sounds reasonable .
That's awesome about the air bubbles! I've heard about them but hadn't seen them. Thanks for pointing them out. I sure hope they work.
Interesting top. Easy to put down. White bottom paint seems odd but the other Regals to showed also had white bottoms. That is a good price to have the bottom work done.
The other regals didn’t have any bottom paint. I’m guessing the prior owner painted it white so he doesn’t see the black bottom on the lift.
Cool video. I live over on SW 30th, so i know all these areas your boating, maybe run into along the boating trails !!
This is so fun - we are currently house hunting in your area - bookmarked Monarca’s and lots of other landmarks - Packing and moving is tough. We take breaks and watch your beautiful videos. Thank you so much for helping us get through a tough time.
It will be well worth it. We pinch ourselves every so often.
You must have had a light breakfast, because the Yamaha got up on plane real nice! 😂
Solo and empty cooler. Lol
Nice spending this little bit of the afternoon with you
Nice to have a Regal dealer so close.
FYI Boca Grande sandbar barge concert this weekend......should be a chit show, no shortage of qualified captains!!!!
I’m holing up there for the weekend. Don’t have to move. Lol
yep captain Tom great video and smart idea to get it done life is short lol alk in mich.
Thats awesome. i learn so much from your videos.
I've made that trip a few times to my dealer opposite yours. I try to stay away from them, not a fan! I'll have to check the height of my tower, I can get under that bridge fine, but there isn't much clearance.
The boathouse painted our old pontoon a year or so ago and did a decent job too.
Hi, Tom, that's a good deal, for bottom take care of it, hope to see soon, we would like to take a trip on the Regal XO
Curious where you live that it seems like a good deal?
That food truck court seems like a nightmare for car traffic. We have almost got hit a few times coming in/out of Ford's Garage, from both sides of the bridge.
Maybe they will put a light in?
Good luck with the service.
I thought the same. It’s a madhouse there sometimes.
@@AdventuresofHappyOurs Just a hint for people that have had this issue, when you come down Cape Coral towards Ford's Garage:
Turn Left on Del Prado, then take the first right. This will take you in the back way to Ford's Garage and you don't have to deal with the traffic.
@lordTowle yes I’ve used the back way. Not all know it!
its a boat its always something
Hi Tom, Had a 2008 Meridian 341 for about 6 years in Marco Island until I sold it just before Ian. Glad I did or it would have ended up like your boat in a neighbor's yard. Looking at a new 26 XO. Walkers is a good dealer. Good luck with the bottom job! Do you know the bridge height at max tide that you went under?
Bridge is listed at 9’. The regal needs 9’10” with arch up and 7’1” with arch fully down.
What format do you use for navigation? Also service? You know you’re going to do it lol. Another Great informative video as always Captain Tom
Knot sure what you mean by format. I use the Garmin chartplotter and also Navionics on my tablet or phone.
2k; wow that seems kinda reasonable
That’s definitely reasonable price. I have a question. I hope you can answer. I just bought a boat from greater kill in Staten Island. I had just watched a video of yours from three years ago, showing different areas and going up to the North Shore of Long Island.. I need to cut across to the south shore of Long Island. Just wondering if you know of things I should look out for. I know Jamaica Bay and the south shore and have been to Statue of Liberty twice that’s it. thank you so much for your time if you see this .great channel. The boat is a 1973 31’ Jersey sport fisherman.
Only way from south shore to north shore is around Brooklyn to the Long Island sound or around the fort of Montauk point.
OK Tom - Now I am really confused - I saw your Regal at Ryco Marine down by Ft Myers Beach about a month ago (I bought a boat there) I thought they were working on the bottom of yours. Ryco must not have been working on your bottom? (sure looked like it) PS - Get that cool Regal on a covered lift ASAP
No that wasn’t us. No lift in our foreseeable future. Lol
And what bridge clearance height at the Del Prado bridge were you told to expect?
Charts have it listed as 9’.
no such thing as a reputable marine dealer or at least here in wisconsin I've been riped off every time
Port 32/ walker marine did right by me.
Isn't the boat house in the cape a regal dealer as in port charlotte? Is there a barrier coat on her also?
I don’t think the Boathouse in Cape Coral is a regal dealer. I haven’t seen any regals there. I see Crownline and Cobalts though.
Hey Tom. Love your videos. Would consider a trade up to the Regal XO. What is the height from waterline to top of tower. We live off of the Eternity canal. Thanks.
With tower up 9’10”. With tower all the way down. 7’1”
Guess you couldn’t get the Meridian up there for service
Nope. Not under that bridge.
$2K for haul out, zincs and bottom paint seems absurd. Is it not a normal thing to get pulled out, power washed, put on a rack and paint yourself then put back in? Like $300 in the Chesapeake Bay. Plus paint cost
The closest do it yourself boatyard is 4 hours away by boat. Add the cost of time, fuel, labor, storage and paint - $2000 is a bargain.
@AdventuresofHappyOurs Absolutely, $2K is a steal knowing all that. Plus, bottom painting sucks. Hahahaha
@CaptainTodd that’s for sure!
Soy de guate saludame Vane
You should put that boat on a lift.
I like the flexibility of a captains walk dock. The lift takes up too much space and who knows what boat I’ll have next. It may not fit on The lift. Plus the $30k price tag is a tough nut to swallow.
